Sorry about this, but someone called Jon keeps emailing me, but his
messages never include his address. So, Jon, if you're out there and want a
reply, either get your mail sorted so it automatically includes your
address in the 'reply to' section or write your address in your message.
Otherwise I'm never ever going to be able to reply to your mail.

I saw that too, and forgot to steal it from the pub to write to the list
with, so thanks Jim, also, I was watching Live and Kicking, honestly, and Ian
Brodie (Lightning Seeds) was asked what music he was listening to at the
moment, and he said he was really into Belle & Sebastian. It fair made my day.
Ben.

Not news of the B&S appearance I'm afraid but a reference in an article
in today's Independent on Sunday review section in the UK. The piece is
a profile of film-maker DA Pennebaker, mainly about his 'rockumentaries'
but it also tells us that he is responsible for the interview segments in
the TV programme. After a description for those of us on this side of
the pond (which makes it sound like a programme well worth watching and
not unlike Later with Jools Holland) it goes on:
'Although Pennebaker's involvement is restricted to 10 minutes of
interviews in each hour-long episode, he apparently exerts pulling power,
not only among viewers but performers. Douridas says the prospect of
meeting the veteran film-maker lured the chronically diffident Scottish
band Belle and Sebastian into giving their first television performance
(they had a song called "Like Dylan in the Movies" on their last album).
"They were very shy", recalls Pennebaker. "I really liked them."'

Hello all
I just thought I'd say 'hello' to you all, and say how glad I am that there
are people out there talking about B&S....I heard 'If you're feeling
Sinister' at the beginning of this year (okay so I was behind the times...)
and I've been hooked ever since, but I haven't been able to get a copy of
'Tigermilk' and I havn't been in the house when they've been on the radio,
so I have a request to make of all you nice folk out there...
Can anyone please tape me a copy of 'Tigermilk' as well as the three Radio
One sessions???? I will, of course, supply blank tapes and postage ( as
well as my eternal gratitude...) I hope you can help me, and I hope that
the two people whi I emailed from the mailing list archives - who I think
may have received a garbled message from me - can forgive me for confusing
them :)
Anyway, I live in hope that my search will heard here on the list, and boy
am I glad that we'll get some decent reviews of the Manchester gigs rather
than bored music journos in the NME
Later
JON
PS: Just heard the Norman Cook remix of Cornershop's 'Brimful of Asha' on
Xfm and it is amazing......

Hi people!
Just thought I might mention that B&S are a new hot topic on the Super
Furries list!!! And they've got a lot of fans there! A sfa/b&s thing
going on? Well, B&S have got the analogue synths on Electronic
Renaissance there! Does anyone (Katrina?) know who the Pet Shop Boys fan
is in B&S because ER is very reminiscent!
So anyone going to Manchester on the Sat wants to meet up? I hear the
cafe on the top floor of Afflecks palace does the best cheese on toast
in the world!

Spiritualized is an offspring of Spacemen 3 led by Jason Pierce. They have
released the indisputable album of the year called LADIES AND GENTLEMEN WE
ARE FLOATING IN SPACE. It is as sonically and lyrically devastating as IF
YOU'RE FEELING SINISTER is charming and inspiring. Every song is a
symphonic wonder and the record thunders with gospel choirs, orchestras,
guitars and synths and the band is kick ass as well. I can't go on enough
about this record. The DARK SIDE OF THE MOON of the 90's.
I have not seen them live yet but I will in a couple of weeks. It took a
while for LADIES to replace IFYS as my favorite album of 1997, but it is
undeniably better.
