I'd heard it was going to be Dec 27, a split show with (another of my faves)
Jane Siberry.

Thanks to all who sent their lists in, including the last minute ones
this morning!
The results were calculated using the famous EUROVISION SONG CONTEST
SCORING METHOD ie 10 pts for first choice, 9 points for second etc.
Apart from the top ten songs, I also used the lists to determine the
following information -
TIGERMILK is slightly more popular than IF YOU'RE FEELING SINISTER, and
the three EP's are in this order of popularity:
3. 3,6,9 seconds...
2. LLPJ
1. Dog on wheels
It seems that most people have a copy of Tigermilk, but those who don't
voted like this:
10. DOG ON WHEELS
9. FOX IN THE SNOW
8. YOU MADE ME FORGET MY DREAMS
7. BELLE AND SEBASTIAN
6. STRING BEAN JEAN
5. LIKE DYLAN IN THE MOVIES
4. GET ME AWAY I'M DYING
3.= SEEING OTHER PEOPLE
3.= STARS OF TRACK AND FIELD
2. JUDY AND THE DREAM OF HORSES
1. THE STATE I AM IN
And now the moment you've all been waiting for...............
THE OFFICIAL B&S TOP TEN SONGS (including all songs, released and
unreleased)
10.= LE PASTIE...
10.= PHOTO JENNY
10.= WE RULE THE SCHOOL
9. LLPJ
8. JUDY AND THE DREAM OF HORSES
7.= BELLE AND SEBASTIAN
7.= STRING BEAN JEAN
6. EXPECTATIONS
5. SEEING OTHER PEOPLE
4. MY WANDERING DAYS ARE OVER
3. GET ME AWAY I'M DYING
2. SHE'S LOSING IT
1. THE STATE I AM IN
Of the unreleased songs that received votes, MODERN ROCK SONG is the
most popular.
I could probably do some more in-depth analysis with the all the
results, but I was crap at maths in school and you probably don't care
anymore now that the final 'chart' has appeared.
And before anyone asks, the song that received the least votes ?
There wasn't one. We love all the songs, don't we...

> I have heard the name magnetic fields in several places. I was just wondering
> who are they and are they any good??
They are an American band (or rather a bloke called Stephin Merrit,
with various collaboraters and musicians who seem to change each
album),...sound a bit similar to B&S..., they are absolutely
brilliant and you should go out and buy all their records now and
come to my disco and dance to them too!!!....recommended releases:
all of them but especially the 2 album CD
"The Wayward Bus/ Distant plastic trees" and the "House of tomorrow"

Well, I've been diligently checking the Sessions homepage for weeks now...
And today I checked the "Upcoming Sessions" schedule (through next year)
BUT THERE WASN'T ANY LISTING FOR THE B&S SESSIONS!
Why is this?? Has it been cancelled? Or maybe postponed so that its airing
will correspond with the release of the Modern Rock Song EP or new album??
Answers, I need answers! So I can set my VCR!!
thanks,
Amanda

B+S on the Radio and TV.
------------------------
Just a couple of points.....
1. In the mail out it was mentioned that B+S 'might' be
appearing on 'Later with Jools Holland' on the 29th November(i
think, sorry haven't got it at hand)...any concrete info or
developments?.
2. Also...on the grape vine people keep talking about
'Evening sessions' on Radio1 and there occurences. Whats
happening here then? - are there any up and coming sessions
planned or are any going to be repeated?(i've never heard one - so
sad)
And finally.....gigs are great and all are trying.....but can the
list be told of any up and coming: TV appearances or Radio
Sessions in general?

Oh,I know the annoyance of that, alright,my friend loves Kula Shaker very
much (please don't hit me!) so I wrote up a questionnaire for Alonza
Bevan, maybe there were soem spelling mistakese but all in all it was nice,I
even decorated the front cover very 'mystic' style,I had my friend who was
attending the concert, throw it on stage and Alonza himself picked it
up!Along with soem flowers attached...
This was last November,no replies yet! Maybe he didn't like some questions
but they were all in good nature,I jsut ask if they ever smack up Crispo a
bit,and if he enjoyed it? plus other good questions,
Ah! Someone knocking on door..one sec...
anyways, yes now I'm here with a phamplet that says 'Will Everyone Ever Love
One Another' so I was saying,Alonza's opinion doesn't exactly insult or
bother me,but I can just imagine the ridicule from Stuart..feel the wrath of
Belle and Sebastian...
Jacobnites, who are they..oh has anyone heard of a group called Rootjoose?

I seem to be getting many of the posts 2 and three times -- is anyone else
experiencing this, or is it just AOL screwing up as they so often do? I had
a post returned for "too many hops" (great to picture my message jumping
merrily across the Atlantic with wings on its feet! -- only to land with a
splash and sink out of sight right off the coast. All for the better as it
was written at a very late hour after Chinese food and sake with old friends
and I really can't remember what I might have said in it), and seem to have
missed a chunk of postings mid-week.
Very jealous of all those who will be going to the Manchester shows!! Please
bring back many many "cyber polaroids" to share...

Oh Gawd. Looks like I didn't solve the multiple mailing problem yesterday
did I? But top-notch detective Andreas has come up with an idea and I'm
trying it - this mail as an apology but also as a test. I tried about 3
things yesterday in an attempt to stop it.
It looks like my mistake was assuming I am to blame - it might be a new
subscriber to the list with such a badly configured mail program that it's
bouncing back repeatedly. I've removed the suspect and mailed her/him.
This doesn't mean the older messages won't still bounce a bit - I haven't
got any control about what the brain-damaged program is doing - so PLEASE
BE PATIENT! If it's any consolation, I, as list-owner, have received many
hundreds of bounce admin messages from your mail servers worldwide. But
that's my job.
So apologies - bear with me! - and don't leave the list in exasperation if
you can help it! I'll be mailing the people who unsubscribed in the last
24 hours as Andreas the Hero suggested if this attempt cracks the problem.
Sorry again,
Cilla

Well, I've got *both* my ears pierced.
Ahem.
Isn't it obvious, though, why it's so much easier to confide things via
email, to ppl you have never met? It's because you know they can't batter
you for admitting you're "inclinations".(Well, this is the 20th century
after all - what did I expect?Enlightened behaviour?)
Also, doesn't it really piss you off when if you so much as hint that
you might find ppl of your own sex attractive, everyone immediately
assumes you're going to jump on them personally and have your evil way
with them?
Or is it just me? :(

Years and years ago, we referred to a homosexual friend as "gay" in front of
my grandmother, who apparently filed that piece of updated vocabulary away.
After an outing of the church ladies (to a winery!?), she told us how all
the other women were discussing the trip and kept saying it had been "such a
gay day!" Gram was quite pleased with herself for knowing the "new" meaning
of the word, and had chuckled to herself all the way home. Of course, Gram
used to refer to her new neighbor as "a hanger." It took us quite a while to
figure out that she meant "hooker" -- and she was embarrassed to learn what
it meant...
