To everyone who has mailed the list and Jeepster re the Manchester gigs:
Ticket prices and outlets will be divulged later this week, as we are
organising a mailout that both the internet & snail mailing list will
get simultaeneously. I am hoping that the announcement will be Thursday
or Friday of this week.
Cheers,
Katrina.

Well I'll have you know tht it has been a exciting week for the kids in
Ireland's fair city.
Firstly I got an email from Stuart D saying that they would love to try
and play over here.
Then, I went into Hmv who checked the computer system and this time info on
B&S appeared so they ordered a copy of 3..6..9 for me. Phew. Supposedly the
distribution over here is very low.
Then, I went into Comet records and there staring me in the face was IYFS,
so for nostalgic reasons I had a look at it. To my surprise tucked away
behind it was the 12" of 3..6..9. Wow! Unfortunatley purchase of the 12"
wouldn't have been beneficial due to fact I would probably have to wait
until to Xmas so I could play in on my record player.
Also, in the event guide (free newspaper stylee thing, like The List but
so much smaller and cheaper) there was an interview with Teenage Fanclub.
The reporters talks of the great bands from Glasgow: The fanclub, Pastels,
Primal Scream and Belle and Sebastian. Then whoever he speaks to from the
fanc' refers to B&S as an example of the best music to come out of the
city. Not bad for a bit of publicity. Hopefully this will help as nobody
here really seems to know them.
Well I just thought that I would enlighten everyone on the bands progress
in other european countries.
Claire.

So here I am, sat desperately trying to think of ways to avoid my
surrender to the call of labour. I can't even partake in my usual
afternoon recreation of playing keepie-uppies with my beachball because
I'm wearing shoes today rather than trainers, and by God they make it
difficult. That'll teach me.
Anyway, I thought I might tell you some of my favourite places to listen
to Belle and Sebastian.
On buses and trains, especially on long journeys, especially when it's
raining. Loads of time to lose yourself without (m)any distractions.
There's a pub in Stirling, and the manager always plays your CDs if you
ask very nicely. They play the music really loud and it's brilliant to
see everyone's reactions when IFYS comes on. Someone always asks what it
is.
This is the same pub where I witnessed an old guy engaged in a most
bizarre activity with a bottle of Becks. It occurred to me as only
mildly strange that he had bought two beers at once when he was
evidently alone, but I never thought any more about it.
Until, that is, he started talking to the brown paper bag he had was
unwrapping. Not the usual drunken ramblings and profanity, I hasten to
add - his tones were affectionate as he gazed lovingly into the bag.
He then took one of the aforementioned refreshments and proceeded to
pour it gently into his paper package, encouraging its contents to
'drink up'.
After a bottle of beer each (his brown paper 'friend' was by this time
sodden, and beer was spilling generously over the table) the guy decided
it was time time to reveal the contents of the saturated bag. So he
pulls out these two crabs. They were alive, I swear, and he spent the
best part of the next hour drinking with his pincered companions, every
so often tipping the beer slightly so they could have another drink.
Sorry I kind of digressed there. I'll shut up for a while now, promise.
Love Nicola xx

Dylan in the Movies....
"The story is about a boy who goes for a walk in the park at
night and is scared in case anybody comes up from behind and
grabs him.
[Keith Watson]
Comes up from behind and "grabbed". This'll be Kelvingrove park eh! Is that what they're calling it now?
That's why it says "don't look back", which is
also a film about Bob Dylan."

Yeah, Eeyore was a blue donkey who didn't like anything. He was also a great
existentialist.
But I'm a girl, and my real name is Ninette.

Were they on the Sarah label?
and does anyone know about the future of the band? because last thing I
have from them is "Operation Heavenly."

your Manchester planning got me all green! :)
>327 - you can find out from the WWW page. Think Oon may have
>trouble making it from Thailand though....
TheyĀre worth the trouble of course :) IĀm not at all
fond of flying...but if it takes me to see them, I
wonĀt complain. The only barrier between me and
Manchester this time is my boss really.
I canĀt imagine coming up to her and say Ā boss, can
I have a week off. IĀm going to England to see Belle&SebastianĀ
.... she would probably punch me.
IĀm entitled to a vacation after next June tho.
So, see you all next summer! i assume they will do some tour
on summer won't they?
>Well now. why not take a trip from way up Northe
>to way down South. I think IĀm probably in the
>warmest place right now (Greece) ......
Sorry Nicholas :) talking about warmest place, I donĀt think
anyone can beat me on that. WeĀre actually in winter season
right now. but itĀs still just a liitle below 30 celcius
at night. :)
happy winter everyone!
