Such is my level of boredom at the moment that I feel the
urge to join in the Tigermilk discussion.
My fantastic idea is to release bits of Tigermilk, some
demos, some radio sessions and whatever else comes to mind,
as a Hatful of Hollow style stop-gap release. I think Hatful
of Hollow is the best Smiths album, because it's all jumbled
up and got a nice picture in the middle.
That's it really. Bit rubbish I'm afraid.
I've also decided that nice paper or cardboard is more
important than any gimmicky promotional tricks. But if
you're going to do gimmicky promotional tricks, I suggest
following in the footsteps of The Cramps and making a
nudie-twist video.

It's not really a promo idea but it would be great if B&S recors were
available easily in France (and other countries i think). I needed one month
to get LLPJ and one month an a half for Dog on wheels. And for the moment, i
can't purchase 3,6,9 (but Dazza will send it to me, thanks).
The radio broadcast and the magazines are very laudatory. But when you have
to chosse between two different records you heared last evening on radio,
you buy the one which is available in the shop. And B&S IS NOT.
I just think that to allow the distribution out from UK would be a GREAT
PROMO IDEA.
Good evening to you all, i'm going to listen to Dog on Wheels...

No, there's a bit about B&S as well as the lemurs. It's only stuff that's
come off other B&S sites though. Lemurs are fantastic though, loads of
great pictures of them. Got to be the best lemur site on the web...
If you like that sort of thing.

I have just subscribed to this list. (my first)
I don't know who Belle and Sebastian are , I don't know what they look
like and to be honest I don't give a monkeys.
But to the point, I'd just like to thank them for their music that I have
recently discovered. I can pay no greater complement to them than to say I
will be pursuing their back catalogue with vigour.
Slange var, lads and lassies.

I think the idea of performing in schools is a great one.
The kids would like it, except the awkward ones at the back
who hate everything, and it would give the teachers a nice
rest. The band would benefit from publicity in all the local
papers.
At my school (a long time ago) we had a visit from a
christian rock band. I was sitting in the back row with my
preconceptions and along they came with a song called
"Sitting in the Back Row with your Preconceptions". It was
rubbish. They also took the piss out of Motorhead for being
poor musicians. But the teachers had a nice rest.
I'm also in favour of a "crap" towns tour. People in remote
outposts are usually gagging for a bit of rock and roll. I
know I am. A tour of the highlands and islands would be good
too. Plenty of press coverage and a good time for all. Or
village fetes or something like that. Church bazaars.
Anything a bit different really. They'll be time enough for
the NEC later. There's loads of arts centres as well. I'm
sure the Burton Brewhouse would welcome a well-scrubbed
bunch like Belle and Sebastian.
Have they disappeared without trace from the only chart that
counts?
Nice to hear from Thailand.

Following on from the Duke's tour of schools, this reminded me of
Heavenly doing their "Crap Towns" tour a few years back.
I distinctly remember the audience at Yeovil (!) being generally younger
and not the usual crowd from Bristol gigs. I wonder how many of these
people were seeing their first live show?
So, I nominate the Princess Hall, Burnham-on-Sea for the next B&S show.
Its big, the stage is huge and its only about £70 a night to hire. The
council just gave it a makeover though, so they might have to shake
hands with the mayor or something...

That would be rubbish cos then I'd have to spend more money buying them
both, though it'd push it up the charts higher I expect. Didn't pulp do that
with something, where they released a song with 4 different covers and
people wouldn't know which one to buy.
Belated favourite B&S moment: the 'Knife and a bikechain bit from I could be
dreaming', which wasn't in anyones top ten funnily enough.
Pastie could be an acronym. If I wasn't knackered I'd think of an incredibly
witty and profound one, but I am...so I can't. (and neither can anyone
else, eh?)
