that bit in mayfly when you can hear the stylophone start buzzing before it
plays.
...and we all got in the tub to save on the leccy bill,
me and Joe and Phil...
when Stuart kinda chokes up "she was not impressed..."
and then recovers it in the newer version of State I am in.

I hope I haven't left this too late - it's so hard to decide, my favourite
songs keep changing. Oh well, here goes...
1. The state I am in
2. We rule the school
3. Electronic Renaissance
4. The stars of track and field
5. Like Dylan in the movies
6. Modern rock song
7. Beautiful
8. My wandering days are over
9. String bean Jane
10. The fox in the snow
Well, at least that is what I think at the moment - I'm sure tomorrow
it'll be different...
Is anyone going up to Manchester from down south (London area) for the
gigs. I really want to go - have the official dates been released yet?
Love, Rob

Frankly I'm sick 'n' tired of hearing about it, but I have to add my idea anyway.
Why not rerelease it three songs at a time on CDsingles and 12"s? Over the course of a year, everyone who wants it will have it in its entirety; and it'll still be somewhat obscure because it'll be "b-sides."
I reply:
The problem with this is that an LP is so incredibly different in concept to a single. They aren't just "collections of songs". Tigermilk flows brilliantly from song to song and each has it's place and order (that's one reason I find it to be such an incredible album). Singles are sort of the same but I guess less so (a sides can kind of be different to b sides). But still, when a band makes a release, I'm sure they agonize over what songs to put on and where.

hello,
has anyone noticed the similarity between the bass line in "electronic
renaissance" and the bass line in New order's "procession" ? Funny that...
Oh, and the bridge type thing at the end of "photo jenny" reminds me Glen
Campbell's "witchita lineman"...
does anyone feel like putting a b and s tribute band together...i play
guitar and can sing like a drunken seal...who plays bass? drums?
stylophone?
we could call ourselves "laverne and shirley" or something, and play reggae
versions...erm...i'll stop now
thank you,
alan

A clear Anise liquor that turns cloudy when mixed with water. Very popular
among the middle class of the south of France.

I don't know what to make of all this. As a new arrival to the list,
I'm slightly bemused by all this heated political debate on the
subject. Surely, a little patience is required, I'm confident it'll
come out in its entirety in one place, no crazy bsides, extra CDs for
the select few. I have a certain degree of faith in the group.
All this fuckin elitism about how it can't come out in the original
sleeve, well that's for the purists only. The important thing is that
we have beautiful new songs like 'Modern Rock Song' or 'Slow Graffiti'
(or is it one f two t's, I can never remember) to look forward to.
'Tigermilk' is great, but we can wait...
Top tens are impossible but I love their spontaneity
1 Modern Rock Song
2 Seeing other people
3 Lazy Line Painter Jane
4 Stars of Track and Field
4 Slow Graffiti
5 I could be dreaming
6 Judy and the dream of horses
7 Belle and Sebastian
8 Sleep the clock around
9 String Bean Jane
10 I don't love anyone
As for ripping off bob Dylan, or whatever the pastie may mean, yeah
yeah...all I know is that like the Go B's, the Pastels or hell, the
Shangri-las, they're one of the few groups whose lyrics combine the
astral and the apparently banal and can fit into any emotional
situation the incurable romantic may find himself in. 'Seeing other
people' may be a gay anthem, but it means something altogether
different and altogether more personal to me. And that dear friends
is their beauty....
Goodnight young lovers xxx

hiya,
david here from the fanclub.
we just picked up the post (our weekly trek to south london) and found
that we had a letter written entirely in french.
we don't want to not answer just because it's in a different language,
but need some help, is anyone fluent in french here? would you mind
translating a double-side of A4 into english for us?
if you can help then mail us back and we'll forward the letter to you
(i'll never be able to e-mail it 'cos i won't be able to get all the
spelling and accents correct.).
thanks
david kitchen.
(nearly died last night when the computer fried itself again, but hey,
it's working again this morning so maybe it'll be alright for a while.)
PS: to all the people who offered help with the website, i'll get back
to you soon, it's just that my inbox if suffering a bit at the 'mo, to
everyone else, don't stop mailing us, we will get through it all!
