have just had another b &s t shirt moment, incidents which are
becoming increassssssingly common, 'n happen virtually every time now
that i wear my bus t.
this time it was the bloke in our college shop who was wondering "if
i really was" the girl wearing a b & s t shirt last week. he has a
nice smile and was interested in the crayons i was buying too, so
i'll have to remember he's a nice boy next time i go there.
last week the boy serving at margiotta corner store said he liked it
and that he knows richard.... everybody i meet seems to know
somebody who's friends with or been out with or eaten quiche with
ssssomebody in the band ...
and that 'ole bus shirt attracted lotsa attention when i was home
south for the summer too, so it's not just being in scotland .
has anybody had any reeeelly interesting t shirt moments out in "the
fray" of the big wide world?
the other kate
ps is orange /brown bus one.

Hey guys,
Theres a bit of graffiti in Glasgow somewhere on Renfrew Street
according to my flatmates that just says' La Pastie de la
Bourgeoisie'
not sure when it first arrived but its definately been arond before I
heard of the single realease, beacuse I can remember discussing what
it meant with them...
We also came up with cake, imagining a 'Let them eat' type situation.
So either its Belle and Sebastian connected or maybe (and this would
make me feel dead cool) Stuart saw it and it inspired him.
thanks

so does everyone else feel the same way, or are we
all feeling a little fragile about our little
bourgeouise beatnik pasts? ;-)

[Keith Watson]
I'm completely in agreement too - I'm just surprised how much he knows about these kind of people living in Glasgow - there are none of them there. I live in Edinburgh where all the Oxford/Cambridge Yah Hooray Henry types come and it's unbelievable. Before coming to University in Edinburgh I didn't know these people existed. It's a case of any excuse not to do a real job, and to have a huge extended "holiday" under the guise of "helping people" (This, at least is the analagous situation that I see to the beat generation thing).
I need a bloody holiday - I haven't had one since a week in Llandudno in 1990.
Cheers,
Keith.

Hello,
I know this is straying off-list somewhat, but just out of
interest, is anyone going to see Luna and The Pastels in
Edinburgh on Friday?
There is a slight link because Stuart wrote a little piece
for the Pastels press release which accompanies the promo of
their new album. It was a sort of "Why I love the Pastels"
reminiscence-type affair. If anyone's interested, I could
type it up for all to see.

Must say I cant see what all the fuss is about with this ep. Dont get
me wrong, I'm a big fan of B+S, but other than Century of Fakers which
has been released with funnier lyrics anyway (Elvis), the ep is (IMHO)
quite weak. The ep has McCarthy feel to it me thinks. And I rushed
out Mon morning for it too. Still, great band tho.

Interesting but useless factoid: Lenny Waronker is the father of Anna
Waronker, singer/songwriter/guitar of the recently deceased american pop
band That Dog.
no, I haven't had time to get the new ep yet.

This must also mean that he's the father of Joey Waronker who played
on a couple of Idaho tracks on their second album.

Funny, I never thought of the Smiths with the Dog on Wheels cover, but
yesterday when I saw the cover of 3..6..9 I thought of them immediatly.
The colours reminded me of "Rank". I like the B & S covers, very
nice. And I like the wee stories. The smiths never gave you a wee
story.
The last band who's covers I loved were that of Suede. Remember the
white backgrounds with the 'artistic' images on the front? I was gutted
when they stopped doing them.
I'm very talkative today, aren't I?
Chris
Hi Chris.
I haven't seen the cover of the new ep - but I'm going to
buy it today after uni. I was at a club in Edinburgh last
Saturday and they played a couple of tracks from it which
was of course excellent. I know what you mean about the
Suede covers - I saw an article about them somewhere which
also included most of the old covers which was nice and made
----------me dig them out to look at.

Naughty Chris Geddes needs reprimanding for his Roses-style stunt in Glasgow - I take it you've noticed the enormous amount of V-Twin grafitti around Byres Road and Great Western Road...
Cheers,

Hi!
Maybe "Le pastie de la buergoisie" has something to do with the book "The
battle of the small pasteis" by Charles Fourier. If pastie is pastei or
whatever it´s spelled...? (although I don´t know if this is the correct
title in english, it is in Swedish though)
Fourier was a socialist utopist who tought it would be much better if
people made war by making competitions were two countries tried to make
the best pasteis and then they could throw them at each other in stead of
kill each other.
Of course Fourier died lonely with a bottle of wine and a baguette.
Maybe Stuart wanted to celerbrate him:-)
