Hi, Promo ideas hmmmm Well, one thing we could do is everyone on this list kinda of writes the name of the single or something intriuging connected with it on all the notes that pass our way and eventually its like written on a fuck lot of notes... Bad points about this: Is it illegal, or is that only if you write on the famous persons face (not literally thought that *would* be good publicity Also... it means conforming to the evil capatalist system... or is it subverting it. I can never tell with stuff like this... Well... its an idea. None of the seven band members is named Belle or Sebastian. None of them appear in publicity photos (the most prevalent of which features an unnamed girl in a surgical mask). All that pretentious hooey is echoed in the Scottish septet's music. Music that nonetheless happens to be exceptional. These 10 folk-pop songs, originally released on Jeepster in the UK, are marked by sweet melodies, Stuart Murdoch's Scottish-accented Donovan-like vocals, and zero concessions to commercial trends. >From the wryly self-deprecating "Get Me Away From Here, I'm Dying" to the folkish "The Stars Of Track And Field", Belle And Sebastian plow fresh turf and sow it with seeds from a vast crowd that includes the Beatles, the Tindersticks, Nick Drake, the Smiths, Paul Simon, and the Lovin' Spoonful. The Glasgow septet's smart songwriting shines in the clever, piano-enlivened "Seeing Other People", the acoustic but complex "The Fox In The Snow", and the snappy title track (primary character Hilary is "into S&M and Bible studies"). Songs on If You're Feeling Sinister are built on layers of drum patterns, strings, recorder, sporadic trumpet flourishes, and vocal harmonies that underscore the sensitivity and whimsy of the lyrics. This one's a sure-fire christmas hit with the kiddies... Belle and Sebastian action-figures! What with the shortage of Spice Girl dolls this Chrimbo hard-pressed parents will be happy for any pop star figures they can find. And actuall fans will be be able to collect the whole set and create their own shambolic concerts in the comfort of their own home! Just think of all the excellent and easily lost accessories...mini star wars T-shirts, tiny Stylophones, cellos, racks of keyboards. Further ideas welcomed.... And there should be a special limited edition Stuart Murdoch doll with a string in the back that when you pull it goes "I was surprised, I was happy for a ... um, errr. Oh.". Soon Buzz Lighthousefamily, Leonardo di Caprio and the other turtles will be eclipsed in the pantheon of merchandise by the clamour for fabby belle and sebastian gear and the chance to do something pretty while you can. Oh Joy! One last thing. I think it's fine to include unreleased songs in your personal top ten. It's your top ten and if you've heard a song and you love it - stick it in. It doesn't mean that you're trying to be flash. (Us Quakers are so bloody reasonable, eh) And another last thing. Did you know Pastie was a word Engels used to describe dinner round at Karl Marx's house? Not a lot of people know that Karl Marx used to make exceedingly good cakes. Do anyone know if it´s a real book B&S are singing about in "A century of fakers"? The one that´s dedicated to " a century..", that is. On the top ten lists: Are there really a point in naming songs which only have been heard live? Of course "Ease your feet in the sea" is a great song, but it won´t make the summed up list any good if just three persons (or whatever, just trying to make my point) among us have heard it. I think we just should name songs on the released records.
