I also got tickets for the manics album playback on friday but i can't afford to buy it now cus i've got to get my mum a birthday present (and i don't think she'd appreciate a copy of the album...) Anyhoo, down to business. Today i have selected for your enjoyment a poem by Rimbaud, who is great, and admired by patti smith, richey edwards and the like. I hope you are pleased. 'Novel' We aren't serious when we're seventeen -One fine evening, to hell with beer and lemonade, Noisy cafes with their shining lamps! We walk under the green linden trees of the park. The lindens smell good in the good June evenings! At times the air is so scented that we close our eyes. The wind laden with sounds- the town isn't far- Has the smell of grapevines and beer... There you can see a very small patch Of dark blue, framed by a little branch, Pinned up by a naughty star, that melts In gentle quivers, small and very white... Night in June! Seventeen years old! -We are overcome by it all. The sap is champagne and goes to our head... We talked a lot and feel a kiss on our lips Trembling there like a small insect... Our wild heart moves through novels like Robinson Crusoe, When, in the light of a pale street lamp, A girl goes by attractive and charming Under the shadow of her father's terrible collar... And as she finds you incredibly naive, While clicking her little boots, She turns abruptly and in a lively way... -Then cavatinas die on your lips... You are in love. Occupied until the month of August. You are in love. -Your sonnets make Her laugh. All your friends go off, you are ridiculous. -Then one evening the girl you worship deigned write to you! That evening,... you return to the bright cafes, You ask for beer and lemonade... We're not serious when we are seventeen And when we have green linden trees in the park. and if anyone's still reading and you haven't gone all squiff-eyed, here is a wee poem by the delectable Simon Armitage who's dulcet tones used to grace the airwaves of radio one when Radcliffe had his graveyard shift... 'ISayISayISay' Anyone here had a go at themselves for a laugh? Anyone opened their wrists with a blade in the bath? Those in the dark at the back, listen hard. Those at the front in the know, those of us who have, hands up, let's show that inch of lacerated skin between the forearm and the fist. Let's tell it like it is: strong drink, a crimson tidemark round the tub, a yard of lint, white towels washed a dozen times, still pink. Tough luck. A passion then for watches, bangles, cuffs. A likely story: you were lashed by brambles picking berries from the woods. *---* HAPPY BIRTHDAY SINISTER BABIES *---* Hello Everyone!!!!!!! IŽm writing this letter to get in a better mood. Things are a bit depressing now. IŽve been all over town and no TBWAS ( doesnŽt this remind any of you of TAFKAP or RATM , mostly the first , or infact just the first!). The bright side is that in an hour or so IŽll be heading to this cool place called So What? where they have this release thing where ( I hope) theyŽre going to play the new album and have some give-aways (donŽt know what they mean by that....... maybe t-shirts??). But still...................................... Things donŽt get better when all you people write about how great time you had at a show or which track is your favorite. This sounds very negative and I donŽt meen to say that you should stop writing about the gigs +++++(itŽs great to read , but today is a spacial day) I hope I didnŽt annoy anyone because it was never my intention. Has the european part of the tour been comfirmed???????????????????? IŽd love to go and see the band . Sinister: Oh dear.

*---* HAPPY BIRTHDAY SINISTER BABIES *---* Oh dear. I appear to have £12.75 in the entire world and I've got to get meaningfully drunk with my friends on Thursday. For this reason I'll have to (a) put off buying an album I can't afford which is TBWTAS until I get to Uni and (b) therefore ignore all mail about it until a similar time. Maybe I can get to some money, but that really was for university. I can't spend that can I? I'd better bite the bullet and withdraw it. Last night - Oh, that would be the night before last actually - I got chatted up by a man. He started off some camp banter by stroking my jacket and before I knew it he was being serious. That's a first for me. I didn't particularly mind that itself, but he was also quite scary and I thought a straight refusal might turn nasty, so I had my friends escort me out of the building. Enough of the reviews, by the way. It's a nice bit of build-up but I really cant stomach any more of these new B&S cliches. Sinister: STHLM GIG!! MEEETING!!

The concert is moved to a bigger venue..so now the questiopn is where in stockholm to have our little meeting..or picnic or whatever.. I suggest vitabergsoarken..it's a lovely park..and it's quite near to where the concert is..only a couple os stations with the subway.. well so..I think we could like meet around 17.00 since the concert begin at 20.00... *---* HAPPY BIRTHDAY SINISTER BABIES *---* Yippee I'm listening to my lovely shiny copy of TBWTAS right now for the second time, the first thing I can say about it is that it sounded a bit too Grrr rock on my big seperates system, too much bass, but on my computer with the treble turned up, its making me feel funny which is nice. While all you people have been dancing away in the yorkshire/sherwood forrest are , I've been bored, so bored that I looked up a Runaround, kiddies TV from the seventies as mentioned by stuart M. on tuesday and found a website, dedicated to the show that featured mike reid before he became frank butcher and had his very own fruit machine on the ardrossan to brodick, arran, ferry. http://freespace.virgin.net/greg.taylor1/watched_it/run.htm stop being nasty about stevies songs I think they are great, even though the begining of chickfactor sounds like betty blue, which I watched on friday strangely enough, also the begining of seymour stein sounds like something else as well ,answers on a stuck down envelope? Oh and It's record of the week in the sunday times culture section. A very good reveiw which I can't be bothered typing, sorry. But the reviewer says things like: "Their triumph is the quietly charismatic presence and fallen choirboy voice of the main singer stuart murdoch " "... the most satisfying and consistent B&S album to date" I bought my CD copy in avalanche and it was £9.99 and I got a free poster too. Sinister: toronto rendezvous/name tags/smiles abound

*---* HAPPY BIRTHDAY SINISTER BABIES *---* Has a date been announced for the tickets to go on sale for the Toronto show yet? I've been ever so dilligently reading the posts, but I have a nagging fear that I've missed something and everyone will get to see B+S except for me, which would be horribly tragic. If I didn't still live at home with my mum I'd offer out-of-towners a place to sleep, but mum has issues with strangers sleeping around our house, even if they are popkids and their only danger is perhaps being too enamored with Stevie and Isobel...but this is probably living in a fantasy world, there must be a mugger or record thief lurking here somewhere, statistically, anyways. So, if anyone is interested in a rendezvous roundabout the Toronto show, let's get it together and have some fun! I'm not sure where to suggest, but there is a fabulous art gallery and science center in the city (although the science center is a little out of the way) and of course the World's Tallest Free-Standing Structure, the CN Tower, for those of you who aren't afraid of heights you can go up to the very top and stand on the glass floor and look at the tiny cars zipping about so far below. And I do think nametags are a neat idea, ideal for promoting friendliness and good feelings. Shall we wear them at the show? Is Genevieve going to make the trip from Montreal? And those of you from not so great distances? I know I don't post here much, shyness tends to get in my way, but I do adore reading these exuberant posts from all of you regarding your lives and how they may or may not involve B+S...I'm quite nosy, and would read all your diaries if you would let me, but sadly not many people are up for that level of soul baring, so I rely on gushing emails to sustain my worldly curiosity. But anyways, I'd love to meet all of you who are able to make the Toronto show, feel free to email me and I can help you around the city or whatever, perhaps go for tea. I only just got the album at lunchtime and managed to listen to the first 20 seconds or so of each song, but theres one song that sounds like the start of an REM song, Tounge I think, or maybe Electrolite, I can't remember. I'll confirm tomorrow! The LP sound great though, Iooking forward to having a good listen or ten tonight. I also bought a single by a band called Electrasy after hearing it in a mates car. Anybody know anything about them?
