hello, hello, hello all! i am soo very happy i can finally post. i'm not fresh out of the nursery, i used to belong to sinister last year. i however went away- to lovely california, for a month and was forced to sign off. i was not aware that when i signed back on i would have to observe for THREE weeks! without the ability to express my thoughts and share my fun fare. well after all three weeks of waiting i have suddenly found myself spechless....kind of like when you finally get to the record shop only to find you don't know what you went for. but hey, i'm sure i'll think of something eventually. oh wait, i just did. it's quite remarkable.... the milk ad-folk created the juggernaut known as "got milk" and all it's sister the cheese industry could come up with is "behold the power of cheese" anyhow, my my my....just saw fight club last night. i liked it. i would like to talk about it though. it was quite reminiscent at times of clockwork orange or perhaps, ah lost my thought, blast. b&s content: finally bought looper yesterday. have had it on my list of needful cds for such a god-awful time and my goal was finally acheived yesterday. splendid indeed. alright, enough for know. farewell, shawnee +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the reborn Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail "sinister(a)majordomo.net". Has anyone else noticed that instead of our mailbox being full of so-called whingers it's now full of people whinging about whingers surely the ironey is not lost on everyone else. i joined the list because i love belle and sebastian and i hoped the list would be a forum of fans to discuss music and other crazy shit about books and television. thats all for now thank's for reading . Sinister: read this

As everyone's totally lost grip on reality I'm suspending the list. No-one seems to care about the cardinal list rule that a list that discusses itself, or discusses not discussing itself, or discusses that, is a dead list. It's in the FAQ and it's in there for a reason. Can any of you see why? Actually I'm quite sure most of you can, people who are restraining themselves from typing right now, and doing the right thing. All mails to the list will be suspended from now until I think of an appropriate reply to how blindingly obvious the correct action is. As has been said elsewhere, you all get the list you make, and you could all do with a lie-down in the dark for a while I think. The list will probably be back this evening or tomorrow depending on when I get time to do anything. This is not a "Sinister's dead" message, and I don't expect it to be used as an excuse to fragment a wonderful community. If anyone sends a particularly nice message which makes no reference whatsoever to this sordid up-yer-bum episode, or indeed to this mail, and I get time to read it, I might send it on so you might see one or two appear. I'm still mum, you know. hmmmmm, i try not to get involved in these sort of things as : 1. it is * never * a good idea, 2. im on digest so im usually about a day behind everyone else, but i dunno, i must be premenstrual today or something.... brandt said something to the effect of: "everyone except robert mctaggert was really rude about it...." personally, i think robert mctaggart was being a little less than polite, but hey, maybe thats just me and my swiss finishing school manners. ho ho. (that wasn't a personal attack on you, robert, by the way, i just dont agree with the way you went about it) now, while im not championing the sort of posts that consist of " this is what i wore to the youth club disco last week. amn't i desirable and cutting edge? please fancy me and vote for me on the list crush", if people *genuinely* have something to say, whether amusing or otherwise, they should be treated with a little more tolerance here than they have been lately. out of 1000-odd people, it would be a little unrealistic to expect everyone to have an "amusing" or " entertaining " life. hey, some people might even have (whisper it) "problems" in their life . does that mean they have less of a right to a voice than the "amusing" people? i think the pessimists on the list should revolt against the "amusing" and "entertaining" people. now that would make an interesting read all right: " yada yada yada, that last post by X was so fucking entertaining it made me want to swallow my own head, yada yada etc" i have to admit that *i* dont read every post from beginning to end, but thats up to me surely? the delete key is there for a reason guys, EXCERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO CHOOSE!!! em, yeah, right on. while no names have been mentioned in any of the "attacks" it is pretty bloody obvious who in being targeted in each case. when brandt wrote that; when his grandmother died, he would just take a few days off, rather than bother us with it, in case it wasnt "amusing", i felt kinda sad to be part of a collective that seems to be so selfish and intolerant all of a sudden. and, no, it wasn't *guilt*. for jaysus sake, whether we are all belleandsebastian fans or not, i would like to think that we are all still people, capable of some sort of feeling and compassion, yeah? i've always been a relatively private person when it comes to personal problems etc, but i've heard it can be liberating to "let it all out", as it were ;) different folks, different strokes an' all that, innit? some people dont *have* friends that they can talk to about personal stuff, you know. count yourself lucky if you do. jerry springers final thought: lets BAN people from the list who write boring posts *about* boring posts. and no, the irony of * this* post , therefore, is not lost on me ;) paula cullen booze explosion booooze!!!! yeeeaaahh!!! Sinister: Jeez...lay off Tag

I am very disappointed in the list. In my chastising of sinister listees on the whole issue of agony uncles I was completely misread. I said that APART from Tag, everyone who addressed the issue had been rude about it. Read that again. APART FROM TAG. Tag was completely cool about this. He addressed the issue in a logical, concise manner and made good arguments about why we should think before we post. And most of all he did it in a civilized manner. He was not rude about it. Tag never referenced me by name, nor anyone on the list and I think that it is really uncool that you all are treating him this way. I like it when people share on the list, but I don't want to be someone's cause celebre--especially when the person who is catching shit for it doesn't deserve it. I'd just like to take this opportunity to say: Tag, I'm sorry. It should have never been like this. So please guys, lay off Tag. You're being as rude as the people I was pissed at yesterday. Hello, chico from glasgow. not quiet sure if i'm one of the soulless ones, what are you on about? glasgow's a great place to live. seems like i've been given my licence to speak at a time when theres a little tension on the list. the last couple of days posts have been highly entertaining. i know i'm new but i think the folk who say that the list is not an agony column are right. some of the stuff that these guys Brant and Jason come out with are quite irritating. no offence but it true. fair enough send an e-mail if your feeling low but every day? come on. always look on the bright side of life and all that. regrets... had a chance to see b&s live when they played a local community centre but opted to spend my money on a ticket to a celtic game instead, what a dick eh. wasn't really into them at the time though. other bands..... the trashcan sinatras, rem, radiohead and gomez who i went to see last week at the barrowlands. fucking terrific. anyway what are hefner like, i was going to buy one of their cd's after reading so much about them, i seen one the other day, cant remember the name ...the something files...maybe. gentle waves and the tindersticks sound good as well. dont have the time to keep up with these things anymore. please let me know what there like if you can be bothered. good day to you all chico. +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the reborn Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail "sinister(a)majordomo.net". Whoooooooooooaaaaaaaaaa STOOOOOOOOOOOP RIGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHTTT THEEEEEEEERE (There will be interesting content at trhe end of this letter. read on.) Just take a deep breath and regroup, people. We do NOT need any sort of petty fighting on this list - hey, I had the (possibly twisted) conception that we were all really nice, special people on this list.The media only ever reports bad shit, and leaves out peoples truimphs, eg- stuff that they have done personally to improve society, but that doesn't mean that we have to counteract this with lovely, fluffy tales of bunny rabits and b&s. people DO get down in the dumps. A lot. I don't personally have a problem with people mailing to tell about their woes, as I believe that we are all friends who can share their experiences, except we do it long distance, and add a bit of b&s content for added intrest. However, I can see how others do get annoyed when people always moan again and again about the same things. I'm sure that most of us communicate personally with other listees outside of the list(ie - private mail), so I think that if anyone does have a problem and wants to discuss it, they should mail these people. And If your friends outside the list are too insensitive, then why are you friends with them in the first place? But I guess people do want an unbiased opinion on certain situations. I'm rambling. Aren't I? moving on to other things. I think that erica is totally fliping brilliant now. I've lost the list crush page - I want to vote for her endlessly. I luv erica. I really do. But she never returns my mails. :- ( My school was on the front of the daily record on monday, and was in it on tuesday as well, because it is meant to be full of thugs. it said that loads of peole carry guns, knives, flame throwers (as well as greanades and we all drive heavy armour all terain asault tanks ;-) ) Erica kix ass. fat ass erica kix ass.
