Dear you lot, Pookie actually made me very happy by mentioning SUSHI in her subject line. Despite never having eaten sushi in my life - the mere thought of it makes me feel all warm and cuddly inside. And I don't even like fish! Loud Computer Games Scouser who I live with cooks mackeral or something every other day and stinks out the entire building. But sushi is an entirely different story. I walked past Yo! Sushi the other day and felt like shaloming in front of the place. I want to eat sushi on a conveyor belt! And the portions they give you seem to be so small you can't help but lose weight if you ate them. Sushi rocks. I will eat it, one day. Thinking of going to Imperial College pookster? South Kensington today? I and a chum are going on a further education quest today - we could pick up some info for you if you want. Mail me with specifics, do... within an hour or so of me posting this of course. Genetically modified food is great. In Preston they had a GM Free Picnic March and we planned to along, murder a pig in front of their pale shocked vegan faces, and then dramatically reveal that the pig was actually a hideously mutated piece of BEEF, and then force them to eat it. Losers. The Socialist Worker were planning to go along as well...as I supose equal means of production needs to be completely organic... Oh I think enough has been said on the POST! DON'T POST! line, don't you? Honey doesn't have to bother to step in as I think we can play nicely amongst ourselves over this particulary "interesting" issue, don't you? Kids, if you've got a problem, go to someone who can help. You wouldn't stand up in the middle of a crowded bus and start shouting about your probelms, would you? If you did, you would get sneered at and thumped and kicked down the stairs and the conductor wouldn't even try to stop you bouncing out of the open door and you'd land on your backside in the middle of the road and a car would just manage to swerve round you, but it would go through a big puddle and splash you and you'd be completely drenched with dirty water and everyone would laugh at you. It's a bit ironic to call your friends insensitive when you've been informing lots of strangers of your troubles and calling half the population of Glasgow soulless in every message you send. No offence. Depression is for doctors. It is not human nature to be nosey. Or at least it's not my human nature. It might be your human nature. But that would mean it's not human nature. No offence. I sincerely hope you all manage to overcome your problems, and manage to regroup in time for the next bout of problems. We used to have an Agony Aunt on the list, I wonder if she could be persuaded to come back? I'm sure she'd soon sort you all out, quick smart and double sharpish. I think whingers are a bit like cockroaches, you can keep the numbers down but you can't completely get rid of them, and they would survive a nuclear war. I've only ever met two people on the list, and one of them recently accused me of "releasing gas". I don't think I've ever mentioned "releasing gas" on the list, so I can only assume I must have had some kind of "releasing gas" accident on that fateful night. But I think of a lot of people as friends, and it would be a shame to see it end. Having said all that, I usually only read messages from the Rear Guard, so most of the whingers go unnoticed by me. I would also like the words "Holden" and "Caulfield" to be banned, or turned into "P!O!O!" and "J!O!B!B!Y!". No Offence. just a quick plea to ask people to keep their oppinions of "list whingers" off the list because what certainly is boring is reading 15 mails all saying I agree with tag and another 15 saying I disagree with tag. I personally have a view on the issue but I've mailed that to tag privately. I know it's not really my place to make this sort of plea but hopefully things will be better for the list if we keep quiet on the subject and let our listmummy intervene if he decides it is necessary to do so. hey kids, just wanted to say thanks to everyone who replied to me about my personal trauma, i started sending personal replies, but then i ran out of different ways to phrase my gratitude and i hate writing the same thing twice, even if no-one would ever know, so i'm abusing the list to thank you all at once. most, in fact all the people who replied to me said the same thing, ie don't sleep with your ex, you'll get hurt, lose your dignity, etc... don't worry, even though i was almost seriously considering it, i know how pathetic i am and i wouldn't have been able to go through with something as kick ass rawk'n'roll as that. anyway, i am so stunningly beautiful, that its only a matter of time before gorgeous, sensitive, skinny, floppy-haired indie boys are throwing themselves at me. yeah right!! but any candidates in the manchester / leeds area(s) feel free to send your cv's to me also, everyone who whinges about whingers, is it really such a hardship to scan a few posts and press delete now and again? i can't see how this is any different to reading people's posts about stuff on tv etc on the other side of the world that i've never heard of and don't really have the time to take an interest in, and you don't here me complaining about that. besides, its human nature to be nosey about other's problems, and often, reading about the situations in which they find themselves is comforting and puts our own lives in perspective. just thought i should add my contribution to the discussion as its very clear which side i am on. shit my phone's ringing and i'm in the library and shit again its another ex-boyfriend, i have to end this prematurely, i'll finish it later..... stay beautiful, fiona +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the reborn Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail "sinister(a)majordomo.net". Hi, more than 1100 sinisters: First of all, a relative surprise. ThereŽs a cinema in Barcelona that whenever I come theyŽre playing great music before the movies. I remember Cat Power, Velocette and MorrisseyŽs "Vauxhall and I" being played some months ago, but this time it was ace: nothing else than The Gentle Waves. I know that itŽs not quite important for the list, but it made me a bit happier. Maybe I should try to ask who decides such brilliant music selection. This is also the place where I saw "Love and other catastrophes" about a year ago, and i do remember it too as an australian film. At this cinema I saw "Ça commence aujourd dŽhui" , a great film. For me the best parts of the movie were the short performance of the drunk & poor mother. I canŽt say that I almost cried, because itŽs not truth. ThatŽs a problem, maybe, iŽm becoming too cold. The fact is the movie was great, as well as "Capitan Conan". In other topics, I saw the wonderful double bill of Arab Strap + Tindersticks at the lovely "Palau de la Musica". I liked the new haircut of Stuart Staples. But the songs of their latest doesnŽt make me feel really excited. Oh, and Isabella Rosellini was interviewed in a spanish TV two days before, so the 99% of us were waiting for that wonder that is "a marriage made in heaven". But it didnŽt happened. I thought about buying theDonkeys boxer-shorts that were on the merchandise site, but I found them too expensive. Oh, Arab Strap sounded much better than in album. I must insiste : Is there any secret rivalry between him and our 8 bellos ? Oh, and a satellite TV is broadcasting the "Monty PythonŽs Flying Circus", which is one of the best TV series that I Žve ever seen. It made me feel a bit embarrassed when I saw the sketch about the "poet" Ewan McTeagle, in which draws the scots too badly. ItŽs a shame that I didnŽt kept the list latest messages. Arantxa said that she tried to look detached when we saw the Belles on Rye, but it was not my case. In fact, every little detail that is able to remind me of such day (a 26 of april) mades me remember the whole thing, and every time that this happen I become 5 years younger (or more, maybe). I canŽt give no further explanations but saying that, this april 26th, I became really 10 years younger. I had the illusion of a kid with new shoes (I donŽt know if you use this expression, sorry). Well, IŽm hoping for the forthcoming Hefner gig here. Oh, I bought "WhoŽs afraid.." and the new version of "Up a tree.." (not the Pulp remix) reminds me of the opening tune for the spanish version of "Sesame street". ItŽs not that I find the song bad, all the opposite. And "WhoŽs..." itŽs, by far, the best Looper song. ItŽs wonderful. Did I mentioned Pulp ? Jarvis ? wasnŽt he at Camber sands ? Oh,...... I live in NY and I go to a lovely University where it is near impossible to find others that like similar music, or good music for that matter. But who can define "good" in this day and age? Luckily, I have the oppurtinuity to work at a little indie record store, that has people who at least know what the music I love sounds like. > Of course I love B+S!!! And I like weezer, too. So my life is pretty uneventful since I have always tons of school work to be done and my job and all. Though I do travel a lot that is the other taker of my time. Hello all; it's been a while since my last post. I sank, submarine-like, into school and music. Thank you, Robyn and Lauren, for inquiring as to my whereabouts. It made me feel loved and cared for, which apparantly is a rarity on the list these days. CASIO-CORE what an amazing name. Everything is something-core now. Just out of curiousity, what bands personify casiocore? Mail me privately, not the list, please. I'll take any opinions from the masses. DYKE SKEELZ Where *is* lesley jo? She hasn't posted in for-effing-ever. I completely agree with whoever it was that said how fab her posts were. Does anyone know where she's gone? LIST TRAFFIC I hope Honey says something to sort this out. It's happened before and i was just so exasperated with the discussion that i deleted all letters relating to it. So i forget what Mummy said. If i can speak gently on the subject, let me just say that, although i try my best to respect you all, I don't consider you all bosom buddies. If i have a personal dilemma i mail those of you that are close to my heart. (you people know who you are) I think that's the best way to avoid hurt feelings when someone who is tired of looking through the day's 142 posts comes across a letter about your sick kitten and decides to flame you. if you'd sent that letter to a select few comrades, no doubt they would respond with sympathy. And Brandt, my best wishes for your mother. My mother fell down some stairs months ago; it's no fun to have an injured parent, and it's a very bad feeling. I can't seem to find the new looper single here in the US; do any US listees have it, and did you have to mailorder it?
