Uncle Peter, i wouldn't mind taking you up on your yeye brothel, except i wont' be there, so never mind. you can think of me or something. no, that would be really sick and creepy. >before, she met this guy who I'm not going to name in case of impending litigation, lets just say he knows belle and sebastian and has works with them on cds etc (ie he's credited on the lazy line painter jane ep ) and he told her that not only have stuart and izzie kissed but have a baby. *GAAAAH*!!!!!! dont' ever DO that!!! that's like saying elvis and marilyn had a love child or something, it woudl be apocalyptic, and rumours...... no. i dont' believe rumors. "Ren, you're talking CRAZY talk!!" Let us never speak of this again. people who tell you things like that......well they are cruising for pain. SHOCK HORROR!! whatever will we hear next? though i wouldn't doubt that some snoggability action is POSSIBLE, considering especially the cramped conditions of a bus going round the eastern parts of america and poor neil having to sleep on the floor. maybe at one point during the night stuey got up to go empty his trouser snake, and toddled back to his bunk, he was confused by tripping over neil and having to clamber around wee chris and sarah, and ended up in isobel's bunk, thinking she was his security friend Patchy-Boo, and copping a fondle of what he thought were fuzzy ears. we can only imagine. i'm going to hell for all the things i have said, it's true. (EXERCISE for the literarily inclined......how many times in the preceding paragraph has the author utilized the philosophy of "toss in every descriptive verb you can think of" ??) please, no more talk of mystery babies!! i'm going to have nightmares... i talked to my art class crush today. i found out what her tattoo says, it says "freewheelin'" your guess is as good as mine. she had strawberry shortcake on her undershirt and barely shaven underarms, i know where the summer goes.... broke the ice by remarking cleverly that i had the same type of cheap plastic ring, and a discussion of thrift stores ensued. i also discovered in teh course of the class, overhearing talk, that she likes the movie "boogie nights" and that she attended a mardi gras frat party in which she exposed herself for beads. ****** !well you can't win em all. and she still looks damn cute. i'm sorry but you can not pay me to see boogie nights, just try. i'll frickin kill ya. GRRRRRR!!!! why can't everyone be as perfect as me?? i wrote a sonnet about it today. do you ever smell someone and not really mind?? uh just me, never mind. *EEEECH* thus ends my "dear diary" rant. sinister (and girly)to the core........ Frothing collectors: Ya'll in the D.C metro area may want to drop by Vinyl Ink in Silver Spring as there are two B&S bootlegs gracing their racks. One was something taped off Radio One and another, um, I forget the what and wheres. A British concert maybe? I think the Radio One bootie had an interview and an alternate version of Lazy Line Painter Jane. Both were about $17. Last one in's a rotten trainspotter. I scored a promo copy of Cat Power's Moon Pix for about $5; ripped it from the hands of my gullible companion, I did. Sooooo amazing! I hear she recorded it after a break-down at a New York concert. It sounds like the melancholy that strikes after another 3 a.m. visit to the local Wal-Mart. Beauty in trailer parks and oily roads and sticky children and crushes on car mechanics. Speaking of melancholy, the almighty Washington Post mentioned B&S in its review of that Nick Drake biography today. Just stuff about shy popsters B&S carrying on his legacy, and what not. Elliott was in a mediocre band called Heatmiser, but made great solo recordings on his own. Heatmiser's best record came out in 96 on Virgin, but was not promoted at all as the band was breaking up. Sam Coomes went on to form the wonderfull Quasi with ex-wife/Sleater-Kinney drummer Janet Weiss, and Neil Gust went on to form the band called simply "number two", while Elliott focused on his solo recordings. Elliot's first solo album was released by a tiny Portland Oregon based label called Cavity Search. The record was titled "Roman Candle" and was followed by two albums for the label Kill Rock Stars, an Olympia Washington label that released seminal records by Heavens to Betsy, Bikini Kill, Sleater-Kinney, Unwound, and Bratmobile. They were also the US label for Huggy Bear and Glasgow's own Lungleg, and released not-so-seminal records by Mary Lou Lord. Your Elliot Smith record on KRS is either the self titled one that opens with "needle in the hay" or else it is the album "either/or" from 97 from which several songs were lifted to appear on the soundtrack to Good Will Hunting. Sinister: B&S new album and E.P.

I went home for the weekend, and typically, instead of doing all the things I could only do at home while I had the chance, I watched TV instead. Now, (this does become more relevant so bear with me) at home we have the luxury of Teletext. Whilst bridging that long, lonely void between lunch and tea, I was looking at the music pages on channel 4 and, bizzarely, they had a piece about the new B&S album. So, here's what I can remember of it... The recording of the album is nearly completed. Stuart David said "It'll be done by the end of February. Some song titles are Marx and Engels, I Fought In A War, Once Upon A Weekend, Wake Her Up, Landslide and Winter Woofkie." The album is due in late summer and the preceeding E.P. is likely to comprise Lonliness Of The Middle-Distance Runner, Paper Boat, and Lord Anthony. Woo! Can David and Katrina confirm any of this? The best news in my opinion is the inclusion of the lonliness of the mid-dist runner on the e.p. (and they did call it an e.p., even though it only has 3 tracks). While I spent a pleasant christmas in London I became re-acquainted with this girl that I used to be in school with. While she was in London the summer before, she met this guy who I'm not going to name in case of impending litigation, lets just say he knows belle and sebastian and has works with them on cds etc (ie he's credited on the lazy line painter jane ep ) and he told her that not only have stuart and izzie kissed but have a baby. Sinister: What ever happened to the list crush anyway?

I've been away for a little while, but Valentine's Day inevitably brought me back to the list. Does anyone else think that traipsing all the way up to Watford (well Harrow) with a wee present for a girl I barely know now looks a bit sad in the cold light of day? Still, there's always Camber Sands to look forward too. I'm a bit perturbed by David's last, rather chaste posting; shouldn't we all be bonking like rabbits down there? It'll be like Glastonbury with sprung beds, dodgems and glitter. Well, here's hoping. Before that though, Sinisterines, a date for your diary. Chris T-T and the Duckyfuzz play with Matinee at Club V Upstairs at the Garage, Highbury on March 6. The gig coincides with the release of T-T's first album, 'Beatverse', and there will at last be some news around then as to who's going to be releasing our stuff (I'm the bassist in Matinee, by the way). While we're on the meglalomaniac tip, there's still time to check the bargain bins for Streamline's 'Best Un-Herd' British, currently our only recorded product. Sinister: oh, belle and seb in sussex!

I'm sorry all, i've been trying to hide the sheer excitement of B&S playing here in sussex, i've tried to stop myself from making a pointless "oooooh, oh my god" comment on the list but i've finally cracked, i just needed to say i can't wait. well now thats over with i can just add a little offer.....it was going to be a competition but i couldn't be bothered to think of one so now it's just an offer. so there i was, wandering through the streets of brighton, once home to the mighty Brighton&Hove Albion, and i wandered into boderline records and on the counter was a box of cds for 99p, and what should be at the front of that pile but a certain "ballad of ray suzuki" by looper. It was all stictered up saying "promo only" but i had to snap it up to make sure it went to a good home, which is where you lot come in. I've got my copy so this is for whoever wants it, it's a proper 3track cd in finished card sleeve, i can't think of a fair way to give it away so i'll just say who ever can be arsed to complete this crappy tiebreak best gets it....... Sarah would win a wrestling contest between all the memebers of B&S because............
