well well well. look what you pretty little things have been up to. i'd say that i'm sorry that i've not posted in, oh, Months, but 1) it's been so long that the whole list is new and doesn't care one whit about lil ree, and 2) i'm not sorry. mwahahaha. yesterday i arranged a late lunch so i could walk into harvard square to a comic book store where an artist i like a lot was doing a signing. but the store was full of cool-looking kids (hellO!! comic book kids are supposed to be big DORKS) and there was a huge line so i just ran away quickly and ended up sitting by the river freezing my tookus off and feeling sorry for myself. so signing, no lunch. nada. DAMON. i think both steven kado and christiaan lampinen have mentioned BODY PARTS and i'm pretty sure they've not submitted to the BODY PARTS PAGE. i demand enforcement. of course i haven't checked the page in a while, seeing as how my internet connection is so damn slow that i can only run one on-line application at once and #sinister usually takes preference over email, porn, eating & sleeping, etc. mark c. totally inspired me to write. mark -- and all london and possibly edinburgh listees -- julie and i will be descending upon ye for our newyears/winter holiday. two weeks with two gorgeous american girls. what ever will you do? and Evil London DDR Team, you best be ready because julie is the Perfect Dance Machine (tm) and i'm, well, the Perfect Cheerleading Machine ("that's alright, that's okay," etc etc). this has nothing to do with b&s, but then again, b&s don't seem to have anything to do with b&s lately either. i have in my possession a $20 gift certificate to HMV. what will i spend it on? only time will tell. i'm stuffed up. weather changes suck. who loves you baby? xoxo, ree ===== *********************************************************** "to me she was just marie." -mersault "hearts don't break/ the division is innate." -secret stars *********************************************************** __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Sinister: Fun with Work Experience...

Hewwo, Today was my first day of work experience. Oooh fun. Not. I was going to an old folks home, in Rutherglen, and guess what, they'd given me the wrong address. So I arrived at this terraced house, and this woman came to the door with two kids under her arm, and she gave me directions to the right place, which weren't very grate, but I found it in the end. So I got there, and the nurses were all "we were expecting two boys, and your school hasn't sent us a letter". Which made me feel like Anne of Green Gables. So I had to make beds in all the bedrooms, which all smelled of wee, because they're all incontinent. And it wasn't too bad, until I got to this lady called Agnes' room. And she was in bed, sleeping, so this nurse helped her out, but she didn't want to get out, and she was screaming and swearing and throwing her teeth at us, and saying all sorts of really rude and moke-ish things to us (and me especially). And when the nurse tried to help her with her clothes, then she bit her and slapped her. And eventuallly we got her bed made. And the nurse said that that was her in a good mood. So then I cleaned and polished all the rooms, which was moke-ish, because old ladies keep loads of trinkets and stuff on their tables, and I had to dust under all of them. And then I served tea, and biscuits. And had a tea break of my own, when the nurses all showed me scars from where Agnes had bit/scratched them. And then I had to go round the rooms and, well, basically, the people in the home are a little bit doolally, and they mess their drawers and wardrobes up for the hell of it, so you have to empty their drawers out onto the bed, and tidy all their underwear up. So I spent about an hour sifting through incontinence pants. And then, I got to Agnes the Moke's room... So I went in and she was asleep, which was good, and the nurse said it would be ok, for me to be in on my own. So I was quite happy (or as happy as a person can be going through someone elses toilet control underwear), until she woke up. And she was screaming about how the clothes on her bed were for a jumble sale, and when I couldn't think of anything to say, she started screaming at me, from her little chair, about how she cursed me for my youth, and how I prolly thought I was grate and pretty (well, not in those words, she was much meaner), but I wasn't, I was really fat, and ugly (which is kind of ironic, because she really does look like Jabba the Hut, and I'm not just saying that because she was mean to me), and she was calling me all sorts of names, and I was just trying to be polite to her, but that set her off even more, and she started shouting "you're so prim! That's right hen, P-R-I-M! Deaf and stupid! You're all 'sorry' this, and 'pardon' that! Bitch! Whore!" and she went on for a bit. Then she demanded that I take her to the toilet right away. Which I didn't know if I was allowed to do, in case I killed her or something by accident (though, by that time I had a motive, really), and I said that I would just fetch a nurse for her, and she gave me this really sly smile, and said no, and she didn't need after all. Five minutes later, and she called out, "you didn't get me to the toilet in time!" And then she said "I don't like you, I'm going to piss myself now, and it'll be your fault. I'll tell them", and then she did. And I could smell it and everything! So I had to go and get the nurse, and she did blame it on me, but I think the nurse gave me the benifit of the doubt. After that, I had lunch, and then I served lunch to the ladies, and I burnt my hand a couple of times, and I overheard these ladies talking about me and how useless I was, really loudly. Which put me on a downer. And then I got stuck in the kitchen, butter a million slices of bread. Then the head nurse came in and gave me this three foot slab of cheese (no joke), and a teeny little grater, and told me to grate it. And all the nurses ever do is smoke and talk about Stars in their Eyes. And they made me sing. For the old people. And it was bad. So WE wasn't good. Still, only four days to go. I'm really terrified now. I thought that the one good thing about work experience would be escaping the hard kids. Now I'm stuck with 30 hard kids who all wet themselves, and have false teeth. Did I mention that they all managed to get their false teeth all mixed up with each other's? Sorry, about the lack of content. I'm really sorry. I came home and drank out my B&S mug and listened to Tigermilk (and watch star wars), and revelled in the joy of being in a place that didn't hit you with the smell of wee as soon as you walked in the door. I will prolly post again about my newfound Hell on Earth, in the next week. Mmm...John, I'm really sorry I haven't mailed you. I will soon, i promise. I really don't hate you! Sinister: queen of all the hipsters

hi sinsisterfolk. scattered through other letters from the weekend, i was happy to see that i had been let out of the list nursery. a happy rite of passage! i believe i even exclaimed "yay" aloud. i feel more connected on this grey wisconsin morn to the thousands of you, multiplied and diffused throughout the world. i was going to introduce myself at this point, but then a very loud pipe-groaning sound passed through the ceiling overhead, and all of my colleagues and i had to go out into the hallway to try to figure out if we should do anything. after some worried glances, the sound appeared to calm down. it seemed appeased in the fact that it had been at least noticed. but who knows, really, in these postwar scientific cubicles, what a pipe-groaning actually means? a leak, a burst? or just a tired building casting off its final shudder? a century groans into the foundation as we small scientists look up in wonder. if we're destined for rubble, thank god I'll at least have post-nursery status when i go. i'm finishing a degree in science right now. my dear dear friend kendra speirs, also a post-nursery sinisterine sister, introduced me to the list. she too slaves away in the scientific underworld, about 1000 miles away from me, but in a parallel universe. i live out in wisconsin, and sadly, B&S or any other kin bands never seem to make it out to these oft wintry plains. polka bands, on the other hand, are quite the rage. o, the pipe has found its plaintive tune again. best to all of you, the teeming thousands, on the other side of this digital glass. hello hello and cripes, radiohead outrage... hmmm... two things: 1. i admire radiohead for releasing kid a. 2. i don't like kid a. so scroll on if you don't want my rants... >SOPHIE HARRIS (sophiesea(a)hotmail.com) spat out the following earlier this week: my [boy with the] arab strap is now drowned out by horrid kid a!! bumm-er. no, i didn't spit it, i just wasn't in the mood. to be honest, radiohead don't really inspire that kind of passion in me one way or the other. i do think radiohead are an important band, and i do totally support progression and experimentation, but my attitude towards radiohead is mersault-ish indifference. sorry if that sounds wanky, but people have a right to their own musical preferences. frankly, i'd rather listen to the gentle waves album than kid a right now. >Hmm...i'll bet you're one of those people who hate musicians experimenting. Sinister: 3/7ths of B&S to play live in London!

Hi people, V-Twin, who have now added Richard on percussion to their line- up, are doing a gig on Saturday at Blow-up in London in addition to the one I mentioned before in Aberdeen on Thursday. They're also trying out a novel new idea - rehearsing! They have been hidden away in Twin Towers rehearsing all last week, and don't intend to emerge 'til Wednesday. Stevie is playing guitar as well as sitar, and Chris is playing piano and synth as usual. Lots of people have been talking about Messerschmitts... I have a vague memory of once spending four years sitting in lecture theatres trying to sleep while lecturers tried to tell me how to make aeroplanes, and then getting shouted at when I tried to put the knowledge to practical use by throwing paper aeroplanes at them. The University eventually got tired of my paper aircraft, and got someone to talk to me in latin, hit me on the head with a silly hat and give me a bit of paper in a red cardboard tube which apparently proves I know lots of stuff about aircraft. Because of this I think I probably should add more trivia to the Messerschmitt discussion.. After WW2, Messerschmitt merged with Blokow-Blom (sp?) and became MBB. They made a helecopter called the MBB Bo105 (now known as the Eurocopter Bo105), which is very popular with british police forces, so Messerschmitts once again are able to strike fear into at least some of the people of Britain. Buenos ding dong diddley dias all, at last a chance to use some of the knowledge that I acquired as a small war loving boy (I am muchly changed now, rest assured) all this talk of Messerschmitts, what of the Focker-wolfe 190??? That was a kick-arse little plane that came in a little later than the bf 109, had a better turn of speed than it and a tighter turning circle but was a lot more expensive to build. On a similar vein, Britain's number one fighter ace in the second world war was a man by the name of Jonnie Johnson and he was my granddad's best man when he got married in 1936! I actually have B&S content too!! On Friday I was bored and flicking through my multitude sky digital channels and what did I come across (not literally of course) but one MR S. Murdoch singing (I think) a rogers amd hammerstein song called bewitched, being ably accompanied by Bill Wells. Also on the programme were thee Headcoatees , a moment of great joy after being introduced to the rattling rockabout classic that is my dear watson by a hermit-like member of this fair mailing list.
