Your Slip Is Showing's show is slipping. And it's only just started. Those are not my support hose at all. Close observation reveals the price ticket to be in DOLLARS. Which can only mean one thing. They belong to Reid Dossinger. I yearn for the days when people thought I was Paul. Nowadays I get treated like a homophobic pornfreak in support hose. The fact that Mr and Mrs David didn't like "American Beauty" can only be a good sign. I enjoyed it. I also enjoyed "East is East". It provokes nostalgia for a better time, when streets were full of bouncing spacehoppers. Rough Guide to Rock wrote something about Gang of Four's funk-rock template being adopted by everyone from Talking Heads to The Pop Group. And presumably Funkadelic and The Bar-Kays and Jimi Hendrix and Rufus Thomas, only backwards in time. To name but four. I don't think you can really give The Gang of Four all the credit for that one. Does "martial funk" mean the same as "leaden-booted funk"? It's funny, but I always thought Kelis was doing a Lucy Alder impression. Hmm Stuart Murdoch (why doesn't he post any more?) mentioned "a lot of nun". It seems this wasn't only my illicit schoolboy fantasy. He also mentioned his shorts, which has probably resulted in a run on Epsom salts in bedrooms across the land. Legs of Sex indeed. So who proposed, then? Someone must've. And Stevie, in case you're panicking, the fine for refusing the lady's proposal is only "a swingeing pound", so you can just give her a copy of Trousercuts AND ask for change. Well, I'm up bugger creek today - the management here at Corporate Megalith PLC are cracking down on non-work related emails. They are compiling a report for the directors. Ulp. hey kids, i am officially a bad person, i could see myself being late for a maths lecture, so i came to check my email instead. but, not only that i managed to get onto a bus without paying, although it was a stagecoach bus, so i allowed myself some satisfaction for getting one over on some even badder people. ha ha. thought i should post because somehow or other i have two crush votes, and if i was the crushers (as opposed to crushee) i would have moved them by now after such a period of inactivity. i forced my flatmates to watch quadrophenia last night, the conversation this inspired went as follows: dumb flatmate: what's this about then? less dumb flatmate: scooters dumb flatmate: what? less dumb flatmate: you know your lambretta top, well its about lambretta scooters dumb flatmate: but don't lambretta make mopeds. fiona, what's this film about? fiona: shut the fuck up then we invented a form of waste disposal, its a game called 'see who can throw the pizza box out of a really narrow window.' i won, beating both the lads who were playing, but i couldn't quite manage the empty ketchup bottle. does anyone else feel like the sinister village is starting to bear an uncanny resemblence to greendale of postman pat fame? we just need a handy man called ted glen, (who can just about fix anything you'll ever need to mend, maybe a tractor or a ladder or a broken frying pan, just go down and see him and he'll help you if he can) and mrs goggins in the post office, and and and, i'll stop before i get any more carried away i've come to the conclusion that the reason that everyone loves jenowl is because she is every character in a b+s song. all the twee schoolgirlish ones anyway. i imagine her to be partly the girl in expectations and partly the 'mousy girl on the end pew.' Last night I was trying to fall asleep and for some reason I turned on the Cartoon Network (I never watch the Cartoon Network) and saw the Powerpuff Girls were on. For some reason i was drawn to it, and was rewarded by hearing an ultra twee song performed by them. The only downside was that I wished I had the 7" (yes I know there is no 7") Anyway, the real reason i am writing is because last night it popped in my head to attempt to make an ultimate crush tape (even though I have a crush on no one) so I could put in the vault. I jotted down a list of songs I could think of (about 20 songs by rose melberg alone) but I was wondering what suggestions you have. I can not identify a good Belle and Sebastian song for such a tape, but perhaps I am overlooking something. Any help you can give would be appreciated. So, 29th of February it is. My watch thinks it's March already. That's what happens when you go to Argos, kids! Apparently some 13th century queen dictated that on this day, gurls can ask boyz to marry them and if they refuse, they incur a hy-uge fine. Sounds like a great way to get even with your worst enemy - he either ends up substantially out of pocket, or you can inflict a lifetime of misery upon him, hopefully with the help of a heavy-bottomed frying pan. I'm definitely having a heavy-bottomed frying pan in my B&B - I can cook my famous breakfasts in it and use it to deter guests from fighting over the remote control in the lounge at the same time. Well, maybe not at the same time - hot fat's the devil to get out of long-pile carpets and it doesn't half pong. wow!!! this is the actual inside of sinister!!!! I can't believe I finnally got out of the nursery!!! it was nice, warm and easy....but I bet this is going to be much mooore fun! I'm new...BUT I'm going to try and be nice to you all and post beautiful msgs full of meaning (well, maybe not so full...)and interesting stuff (not that I have anything special to say...I'll just make something up for the occasion). mmmmm.....about the sinister village... can I have a place where I can sell stuff that shines? I mean those little crystal balls to make necklaces, and also fake diamonds, and paillettes, and round buttons and... don't know what else... can I? does it exist already? if it does, I could take just being the assistant.... Hello Glass siblings, I knew some of the postings sounded familair, like I had met some of you somewhere, sometime, long ago, but it just didn't click where until I read David Moore's posting with the Salinger bit, and I thought Eureka! Honestly the word eureka flashed above my head, because I am certain that Seymour Franny and co. have been making posts incognito. I'm writing because it is obscenly late. It is obscenely late because my neighbor insists that he can't sleep until he polishes of at least one bottle of wine, and wine is no fun to drink alone...so I am sacrificing sleep to help the more needy. So tell me something, should I give up on Yo La Tengo, I got Strange but true, and it's a CD long joke, which would be funny if it wasn't the same joke for every song.
