sorry if this has been sent before but marina is truly a wonderful label and we should all love the pearlfishers but this is b&s related as well-- currently in production-out in the spring-one of our most ambitious projects ever is this tribute album, which believe us - won't be your typical tribute album. I too have been out-raged by the lack of interest in Stuart David leaving the band. Anyone would think the kids just *didn't care*. I know you all think he smells of piss and everything, but imagine how hurt he'd be if he found out how expendable he's considered. I'm starting to think Sinister is a bit freaky after all. There's this hilarious scene in 'American Beauty' where the daughter and her starey-eyed saintly boyfriend have a showdown with blondebitch and scream something like "You're so ordinary. We're freaks. We'll always be freaks so ner." It's a bit like 'Misshapes' but with less panache. OK, so I did take time out from emptying the bins to remark upon the latest news, but I didn't have much to say, did I? Why can't we think of anything much to say? Maybe it's because it was such predictable news, even when Carsmile Steve started the rumour. Or maybe it's because everyone thought A Space Boy Dream was an 'ill-advised excursion into leaden-booted funk'. Oh no, that was 'Barbarism Begins at Home'. I think he's an important member of the band, even if he just plays bass and writes a mix of cutesy singalongs and breakbeat babblings. I can't put your finger on why, but his presence somehow matters. He's the Bez of Belle & Sebastian. I do like 'Winter Wooskie'. I think it's his best song he's written about him and wee Karn's terrific romance. 'Paper Boat' is a just a bit *too* wet, even for me. I don't mean any of this very much. Well anyway, if no one is inspired to talk about the latest news, I'm going to revert to replying to messages from the archive. Sinister: Tuc Biscuits and Richard O'Sullivan

Hello, I return from a several day wilderness of no email to a veritable plethora of electronic scribblings. And unlike most soaps you miss a few days episodes here and it's very difficult to keep up with the plot. Was Lixi's return to get revenge on whoever left her stranded in a prison of modemless life? Perhaps through the tool of Rick Wakeman? And let's face it he really is a bit of a tool. Does Ailsa's foreboding wedding mean the end of the (virtual) affair she had? And that Ralph Fiennes-esque diamond geezer will now be virtually stranded at the drive in, branded a fool... Oh dear, quoting Grease lyrics isn't clever... Actually, has anyone seen End Of The Affair? If so, is it any cop like as I remember being quite engaged myself with its litteratura origins. And all this crush business has really got out of hand now. I know you all mean to vote for me, but you must of all got my email address wrong or something. Or maybe my Grandmother was right. She once said while looking at an old photo of me and me in person, what a shame you used to such a handsome boy. Which was a bit harsh, especially as I was about 13 at the time. To be told your best days are behind you and you hadn't even shoved your tongue down someone's gob and wiggled it about yet was a bit much. Though, she also used to always say this is funny, you'll laugh at this and then recount a tale such as Tuc biscuits have gone up 1/2p or that her celery's gone brown. Which to be frank doesn't even give Les Dennis much comedic competition. This weekend also saw me leave my parent's warm and loving nest and flutter my wings alone to a nice twiggy abode with some drunken fops I stumbled across. Which now leaves my life with no direction as Timothy from Sorry! can no longer be my hero and guiding light. I'm thinking maybe moving on from Ronnie Corbett to Richard O'Sullivan's character in Man About The House or maybe Jacko from Brush Strokes. "Because of you...". Indeed. I think my trouble with keeping up with the plot has moved on to losing it altogether now. Ho hum. Must go and poach some porridge. Sinister: why is the room spinning?

its 11:09 am and i'm drunk - fantastic! recovering from birthday celebrations last night, but i was up in time to go to uni this morning, and then i thought, no thats just not rock'n'roll enough to be up at this time, so i went back to bed, but then i got bored so i came to check my email. i have just read about 40 posts and i have very little idea what any of them said. the world looks quite fuzzy remind me to drink my milk before i go home, so it doesn't go off at the beginning of this week i was all set to post about how terrible people are, how no-one can be trusted, particularly glamorous and pretentious people (not necessarily one and the same, but you know what i mean) this came about because the people i was supposed to be living with sold me out and found themselves rooms in a house, and then left someone else to break the news to me. needless to say i sulked. (the story is in fact more complicated and involves various relationships which i can't work out at this time of the morning, but you get the idea) anyway, i held back from posting my trauma to you, and i'm glad, because my faith in human nature has now been restored. i received an apology from said people, and two offers of places to live and birthday cards and stuff from friends that i wasn't sure liked me. the moral of the story is, well i'm not sure, everything's going quite hazy again, i think i've got a hangover coming on. but if any of the above made any sense i'm sure you can work it out for yourselves. laura llew talked about that song with fiona in it, someone on the internet told me about that before, but i've never heard it, so if someone would do me a tape or something, that would be fantastic. lots (well 2 anyway) of people talked about queer as folk - mmmm - queer as folk, i was talking to someone on the bus the other night who was rilly rilly excited because she'd just met the rilly camp blond guy who does his hair in a sort of pointy way. and every time its on my flatmate insists on repeating the story of how she nearly wandered into shot on canal street when they were filming and had to be dragged back. anyone want to get extremely drunk with me on valentines day? its the first one for years when i haven't had a boyfriend. raaaaaaa going to stumble towards linear algebra now, love and jaffa cakes (jaffa cakes in burger king!), fiona 'any waste of effort isn't part of my design' in fact i'm just lazy +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the undead Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail sinister(a)missprint.org. hello my dark-yet-shiny-stars, as dear, dear erica was kind enough to notice, i have been absent from the shores of that virtual island we castaways like to call sinister for some time. i'm afraid i went paddling in the waters of real life and got bitten by a crisis-shark that was crusing in the shallow waters. it pulled me far, far out to sea and it was only with the help of a gaggle of passing vodka-fuelled dolphins that i was able to make it back to the beach... and the beach is so beautiful, i will stay and bask for a while. just one question.. where the FUCK IS LEONARDO DI CAPRIO? yeah, a mile of sand is all very bloody well and a few friggin trees oh-so-dreamily waving their fronds in the tropical breeze is great i'm sure but i wanna get my rocks off. i've been here nearly 2 hours now and still i haven't been rogered by a bronzed blonde adonis...what the buggery bollocks is going on? oh. erm...hi....the gay dirty den is back. so...down to business....alasdair, get your kecks down and bend over! oh no, that wasn't what i meant to say at all..i think its that sea-water in my head.. the lovely mr cook said: >Anyway, well done to the Manic Street Preachers for getting to number >one without the use of any cynical marketing ploys, oh no. Sinister: A Spaced Boy's Dream

Hi Fragrant Ones! My first B&S dream! Last night I dreamt that after nearly 12 months of nothing happening from Belle & Sebastian (at least that was available in public) one of the members left the band, & that despite this momentous news Sinister was so far up its collective bottom that the event passed without comment (apart from some poor bloke who empties the bins at a national newspaper in the UK) As usual I made myself wake up from this nightmare, & thought that if it were to come to pass that Stuart David did in fact leave the band I would miss him & pretty tunes like Winter Wooskie or Paper Boat being played live a lot , but would wish him well in all his new ventures. I would hope that he has every success with all of him. As to filling the gap in the band left by his departure, we know that Stuart M, Isobel, Chris & Neil can all play bass. I hope that the quietly self-deprecating & pish-taking humour & his ability not to take himself too seriously role gets adequately covered too. Sinister: Flaming Lips Tour and the WBC

Found out tonight that the Flaming Lips are embarking on a tour of the Midwest, and, sho' nuff, they're coming to Columbia. Happy day! I read a little while back that Looper was going to be supporting the Lips' next tour--is this it? I can't find any info, so anyone who knows is more than welcome to speak up. Jarkko--yeah, welcome to the ridiculous, intolerant world of the WBC. These loonies have been at it for quite some time--I remember hearing about them even before Matt Shepard was murdered. They've protested in my hometown twice now, once at the opening of the new Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport (President Clinton spoke at the opening), and again in front of the town courthouse during the trial of two men who allegedly raped and murdered a little boy. Very few things scare me in this world, but the WBC probably comes very close. I can't understand that sort of intolerance, and I'm pretty sure I never want to understand it. I blame it on fervent fundamentalism. Go figure...sigh... Well, it's time to get back to my music reviews...the new Mouse on Mars album is going into format this week, and I have nary a word written. The world will see if Finland fags >believe >in tolerance and diversity for all. Now, I think that I'm pretty good with words. But sometimes I just have to sit quiet and not say/write a thing. Like now. At first I thought the site www.godhatesfags.com, where that is from, was a joke. It isn't. Visit the site and see for yourself. Now, I'm not in any position to slag off anything/anyone. I've been a real dick, past and present (and future, I'm sure), so I have no rights to judge anyone. But that site is EVIL. Religion, just like politics, bores the hell out of me, but see what it does to people? I personally think that the Big Book is the root of everything, good and evil. Some people live by the Book, and that's fine by me. They do a good job when they use their brains. But one thing the Book creates is fuckheads like these guys. We all have these thoughts that scare ourselves, when we're just about to fall asleep at night and suddenly we find ourselves thinking things we'd never EVER even imagine telling anyone, because they'd lock you up. Sometimes for your own safety, sometimes for the safety of others. But since yesterday, when I visited the site, I've been thinking those things all the time. I'd just LOVE to see those people at the edge of the cliff. And push 'em. Ok, that site probably is made to provocate people. But that does not justify it's existence. Sometimes the freedom of speech is not such a good thing. I'll leave you with this bit from the same pages about Matthew Shepard, who was beaten to death by two men for being gay. I won't say a word. Except the people who run that site are in need of medical help.
