Hello. It seems that my identity still remains a source of confusion. It is tricky to be any more explicit so I suppose I'll just have to live with it. I've been thinking a bit about the mailing list as several of you sweethearts have expressed consternation about the lack of B+S content. Is this the point of the list? I guess a priori for us to be on the list we all must think they are smashing and thus the rest of the debate (as it seems to have been recently) is to categorizing which of the songs fall in to the following categories - marvellous, good or less good. I think that is as critical as I can get with B+S - if you don't like it it's because you don't understand it. The other topic would be B+S trivia and if Isobel is gorgeous or not (or somewhere in between). I was strongly swayed by Magda's point about just enjoying pop music qua pop music - singing, dancing in your bedroom, drinking beer, kissing girls, driving, feeling sad. Making life more bearable and helping us all to rise above things and 'keep it light'. I hope I don't sound like an Englishman trying to pretend to be an American with that last comment.....! The reason I enjoy reading the list is just to hear whatever others have to say - however trivial or disagreeable it may be me personally. Perhaps there will always be an element of narcissism to lists (I am sure everyone has realized the structure inherent in the way we all write our mails) in that the link of B+S 'fandom' probably contains several other similarities between us - perhaps when we speak all we here is an echo. I hope this is not the case. I still think there is genuine communication sometimes. What is the opinion of Stephen 'I used to be called Tintin' Duffy? i used to know with this lady named mary jo at the grocery store i w previously worked at and the b n s song describes her to a t! When I play it on my guitar, or try anyway, i just ad lib some story she would make up to get out of work. She was truly an old, lonely pain in the ass but she would have the most ridiculous things to say. Anyway, my favorite song on the new album is either don't leave the light on baby or too much love. Chalet lines bums me out and the rest are so so. This whole album seems to revolve more around the keyboard than the guitar. There's also more male and female vocals which is a plus. I truly love them... but I don't know what to think about their interview in Twisterella: "Belle and sebastian's music is self indulgent and soulless. My sister listens to them and shouts "try harder!". We have nothing in common with them, aesthetically or geographically. The NME journalist who coined the comparison was having an uninspired day." I'm sure they did. Well done to France for a spectacular (if slightly fortunate) Euro 2000 win. Have to feel slightly sorry for Italy, and very sorry indeed for Mark Cassarotto, for reasons of heritage and finances. Poor boy. In a bizzare link, I had a dream last night in which aliens invaded the Earth, and based themsleves in France. I'm sure I had exactly the same dream years ago, possibly it's something to to with me feeling a bit ill. My mum thinks I'll probably get shingles. That would be nice. Anyway, the aliens did cunning things like phoning up pretending to be my mum, telling us to lower our defences, but I wasn't having any of it. Then they turned back time, so they'd have more time to plan an attack, or something. But while reviewing the dream after waking up, I realised that they'd actually truned time forward, which would be no use at all. Another interesting dream ruined by my subconcious' lack of arithmetical skills. Oh, and I also dreamt that I got a big tattoo, then said to someone today how this was strange because I would never DREAM of getting a big tattoo. Then realised I had. What am I talking about? I think I'll write a poem instead. The sky is blue You might need a poo If you eat lots of fibre Or you could just read a libre. Hmm, that wasn't very good, and my French is probably wrong. Or baaaaad. And it doesn't ryhme. And it has poo in it, which no-one should have thrust upon them. Sinister: Tea in a Park-Warning: List abuse & Electronic renaissance mentioned!

Hello Tweezers, how's it hanging ? I was thinking of having my Tea in a Park this weekend. Would anyone care to join me? Oh go on. I was thinking maybe a nice spot called Balado, near Kinross (Perth, Scotland, Britain, The World, Solar System, Milky Way, Universe, Grain of Sand in Cosmic Mindfuck Beach) in the shadow of a giant golf ball. We can take tiffin and talk about precious things. Let's say: 1pm outside the Orange Wedge phone recharging thingy ('cos some woman was gushing about it to me today) near the Cafe Club tent. Saturday and Sunday that is. For recognition purposes, everyone has to wear clothes, eat an orange or orange-related fruit like a mandarin or even tangerine and of course wear their sinister credentials on their sleeve. The Cutter is an ace song.....and the Bunneymen were/are a great band!! But its a million miles away from B&S. I think they're a lot sexier. Some of their tunes can make you feel your trippin' off your head at a black mass sometimes!! Higher hell on Porcupine is a bit like that....I'd reccomend the album Porcupine to anyone!! Sinister: Sepp Blather

Consider this: LEGAL MAN by B&S and THE CUTTER by Echo and the Bunnymen. So near, yet so far. So alike, yet so dissimilar. It's remarkable. You see what I mean about brain disease? It's been quite a long time since anyone accused their fellow Americans of pretending to be British. On that occasion we established that some of us actually *are* faux-British. Not me though, I'm from Pasadena County in Maryland, Virginia. I demand a parliamentary children's drinking match! Poor Master Blair! Everyone's saying he gave a false name and address, but the poor little cherub probably couldn't remember who he was, let alone where he lived. I bet Northy spiked his drink. Apologies for giving the impression that all clubs in Barcelona are racist, I'm sure that isn't the case. It's a long story, involving undercover Al Jolson journalists, but basically it's just the posh ones. And they claim to have sorted it out now. I'm sure there are some very nice clubs. I can feel a list content content bout coming on. Can I just say how much I enjoyed the list when the new album came out and everyone was giving their opinions of it, discussing things, agreeing and disagreeing about this that or the other. But summer's lease is all too short, and the urge to spout crap is all-conquering. How about some tennis news? Is there anyone called Honey on this list? I bought a CD called "Where the Girls Are (in the showers by the sounds of things) Vol 3" which features a track by Honey and the Bees. More importantly, there's a full page photo of them too. Which one's Honey? I think it's the one on the right. Hello to Martin Amis, who's been lurking on the list if his new book is anything to go by. hello fellow villagers. 1. i just went to the list website and i realised that there are actually 3 other pple who post from singapore. fess up all of you!! i know it can't be just me here, or hmv wouldn't have sold all their copies of FFGFJKGD on the shelf within the first week. 2. thanks to everyone who responded to my question regarding the artwork of 3, 6, 9... 3. squat toilets piss me off. i'm surprised that they still exist. 4. pple on handsfree mobile phones always look like they're talking to thin air. i like to laugh at them, if i realise it before i think they're psychotic. 5. i always thought the line in TBWTAS was "she is as pure as the cauldron's cold", which would be a fantastic line. then i read the actual lyrics today and it's actually "the cold-driven snow". i was rather disappointed.
