Hello, won't say much about all exciting news since we're all obviously chuffed except ( weeeeee!! glasgow june 16th here i come ). hmm. breathe. It'll be my first trip to glasgow as well. Disgusting behaviour for a B+S obsessive I know, I should be camped outside 13th note with an acoustic guitar waiting to seranade struan. And I would. If i wasn't so weak, and if i didn't think my bum would get cold sat on the floor all winter. Still I think I'm applying for glasgow uni, so that should make up for my past sins. Do you think it's wrong to choose a university solely on the basis of its music scene? it's just I know I'd be miserable anywhere where I didn't have a plentiful supply of tickets on my noticeboard. I went to a ucas conference and tried to concentrate on course content, but images of a life in one of those universities that aren't even called after a town were just too depressing :( Maybe I should wait until B+S announce there full tour and only consider places they have give their official approval to. That's probably taking it too far actually. I don't reckon Dunoon has a university. I am glad B+S are releasing their carriage clock song. Carriage clocks are always given away with financial products for the over sixtys. I always find that a bit odd. When you're so near death you need to ensure your life I very much doubt a gold plated carriage clock, however elegant or exclusive is going to cheer you up. Maybe that's me being young and naive, but working at a nursing home makes you realise that being old is not a golden autumn of life but a cold and very slobbery winter. nice. ooh. one last thing. Isn't the reading/leeds festival line-up looking nice. For a corporate sell out thing..At least there's not too much nu-metal type stuff on the bill yet. Last year I kept thinking I was going to die the number of grim reaper hoodies around the place. Still, marilyn manson will keep me on my toes I expect. okay, as brier so kindly pointed out, YES i did bring up the idea of having a meet up in the los angeles area. i got some responses, but i have continued waiting to see if there were any more people interested before i started a small forwarding list to those available for meeting up in the la area at the end of may. i got a lot of suggestions and they are all quite different, so we are going to have to come to some sort of consensus on the matter. sooo... basically this is a last call for those interested in meeting up over memorial day weekend at the end of may! i truly don't want to wait until june because the weather gets too hot, and i think we can talk about the impending single without waiting for it to acutally come out. It's the 1st of May. May Day, in fact. I thought someone should say something. Ignoring Ken's advice I went to Oxford Circus to see the clowns and the riot police. The acoustic field. The air bass of helicopters. The whistles. The chorus of cries every 5 minutes. The incomprehensible megaphones. The altered sense of urban space. The rare emptiness of Oxford Street. The shops so flagrant and welcoming, so seductive and overpriced, for once barred and boarded. The cloudy sky over Regent Street's elegant facades. It dawned on me that they *had* barricaded it. There were a lot of police. How many? Yes, that many. I don't know yet whether the system has been brought down. Geri Halliwell was on This Morning today relating her horrible experience when someone broke into her home and spurted Ribena all over it. Really, whoever it was, this Ribena obsession has gone beyond a joke, give yourself up now. The poor girl's looking terribly thin. Rumour has it, her new song "It's raining men" is a hasty rewrite of a song written shortly after the incident called "It's the Ribena men". The rewrite was necessary as the original was deemed "corrupting" and police were worried it might provoke copycat incidents. Unfortunately this means the song now sounds like a bag of tired old shite. And later on, Jeepster said this... "Record News Belle & Sebastian return with the first of two new EPs, entitled 'Jonathan David', on June 18th 2001. It includes three previously unreleased tracks, 'Jonathan David', 'Take Your Carriage Clock an Shove It' and live favourite 'The Loneliness of a Middle Distance Runner'. The single will be available on CD (JPRCDS022), 12" (JPR12022) and 7" (JPR7022) formats, the asterix (*) denotes the tracks that appear on the 7", all other formats feature all of the tracks. i'm sitting here on my lunchy break listening to the radio and they are playing "dylan in the movies" its making me so happy. i was having a horrible morning. everyone here in my office is in a horrible bad mood. i dont know why, but i'm sure it involves alot of failed sexual affairs. either that or possibly that bad pork they ate last night. i just hate having to deal with it. but, hearing b&s does brighten my mood exquisitely. and they played lemon jelly earlier! i still havent gotten the album, but they've been playing it alot on the radio and i love it. on another note: last night i'm sitting at my desk writing & drinking scotch, when my seven year old sister comes tearing into the room screaming "caleb! caleb! come quick! you have to hear this! hurry!" so i run after her to the tv, where they are having a public service commercial about drugs using "mondo '77" as a soundtrack. my sister keeps jumping up and down screaming, "its looper! its looper! on tv! i can't believe it! they are playing your kind of music!" i think she got way more excited about it then i did, though it did make me very happy. what does the following tell you all about me?: directly in front of me on my desk i have : a hanging kandinsky calendar a pinned-up postcard of an edward hopper painting a picture of morrissey two new order postcards, one blue monday, one everythings gone green a bookmark with a detail of "the young girl (the virgin) by gustav klimt a copy of the kingdom interlinear translation of the greek scriptures a copy of memoirs by pablo neruda a copy of GQ magazine three empty red bull cans alot of post-it notes and pens laying around ??? anyway ttfn caleb ===== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Note: I actually know Danny in real life; and this is not a sherricking merely a gentle chiding welcome to Sinister. Well, since the list-mummy is conspicuous by her/his (not had this much fun since Dana International) absence, the lovely Katarina Karlson has offered to design me a Sinister Junior Reporters t-shirt (thats a medium, mind). As regards the boys from Hefner, I do wonder what songs they played: I would be intrigued and greatly indebted if anyone (even you, Mr Farrell) would furnish me with a set-list. As for the 13th note being a pretty scary place, I think he probably means imposing imbibing-hole imbued with drama and accentuated by history which sounds a lot worse than a pretty scary place. I would reckon that the chance of seeing Stuart at the aforesaid gig would have been pretty high. The 13th note is meant to be (we can only go on rumour) a favourite place of Stuarts; couple that with the fact that he is now producing Camera Obscura and we have 9 to 2 odds. (Incidentally, the new Progwai Album, Rock Action, has Sleazys on the cover). Camera Obscura sound similar to B&S? What in that they are Scottish? I need more description. In what way do they sound like the Belles (the Belles) Darren Hayman is a pretty nice guy. I got talking to him at the gig at the Garage in October and he signed my copy of Ants solo EP. They were all very welcoming and all of them happily signed the CD. You gotta love em. We will laugh Hehe. McDonalds? Ahhhh Blaspheme. Teehee. Well, went to see Songs from the 2nd Floor on Sunday. Very nice to look at in parts; laced with some great social commentary (theres a scene where the economics advisors to a company are all sitting round a big desk and theyre passing round a crystal ball. Teehee. Just me again, then, eh?) I guess it has a pretty strong message to give Blessed is the one who sits down. That is, take a rest, get your head clear dont try to do everything at the same time as everyone else, youll only stunt your life, youll get a lot further by actually thinking; enforced sacrifices blah blah blah. Oh well, as for Baxendales albums. Well, Helens actually got a rather vast repertoire but for maximum irritating-public school-girl quotient go for 1997s Eton Trifles. Err. I mean. Seriously, try www.musicforgirls.co.uk. Or even, heres a novel idea, try one of this citys many wondrous music shops (I counted 8 just a minute ago). Im sure youll be able to find them quite easily. Quite why youd want to Im not sure Anyways, lectures nall that. Sinister: I love the city

Hi children who seen Hefner on Saturday. The 13th note was a pretty scary place, all dank and atmospheric but it was a really good venue for the gig. There was a brief rumor that Struan was at the gig but i was right at the front and it didn't look much like him. The support act Camera Obscura sounded similar to B&S and were actually pretty good. Darren Hayman was his usual amazing Henman-esque self. It amazes me that after so long he still gets extremely excited when fans sing along. He actually looked totally shocked when he stopped during the hymn for the alcohol and the fans voice carried the song. I dont think iv ever seen a musician so happy or as shocked as him at that moment. It was actually pretty touching. Hmmm what else, one of my friends who was at the gig gave Ant a mcdonalds furby for his birthday and he sat it on top of his drums when he played. It was pretty cool actually, just can't wait to B&S now, getting tickets for both days if they're still available.
