Sorry, im gonna make this my last post for the week, i just had to say what a brilliant post that was from dimitra. It made me go all emotional (hopefully thats cause im due on, please god). Having just had my 21st bday i can relate to that. i had a party with most of my good friends and my lovely new found boyf, i thought about all my others and how far i had got in life and how everything has happened the way i wanted it it to. i used to hate birthdays but the last one was fab. Hello....Sinister-at-Large: Well, the nebulous handle that I had at a real job has slipped through my grubby, guitar-calloused, little fingers. Downtown (no matter what Petula Clark says)does not always make things "ok" when you are down. Life in the district-financial was like a scene out of "Hudsucker Proxy", life in a crazed dank mailroom filled with incomprehensible rules. Truth being, that I lack the skills to work in an office.Those skills being: 1)Being able to act like I like people I don't. 2)Asking "how was your weekend?" to 10 different people and pretending that I care. 3)Talking about the weather at the water cooler. 4)Letting everyone under me do all my work and have fun taking credit for it. ("That's the way the system works, right?") 5)Being utterly scared of anyone with half a brain....afraid they'll take your job out from under you. ("Cause that's what you'd do, right?") So, I got the sack/laid off.....once again sunken up to unemployed status......and I DON'T MIND THE POVERTY! I really don't....(yeah, right!) Damn...four months was all I could stand...a failed experiment in living badly. All these folks graduating, I hope you find something that you like to do besides do what our favorite band does. It doesn't pay much being a musician, and there is no track to follow to assure you anything but "beggar-status". Just the belief in yourself and your abilities to emote and trust in the fact (conceit) that you have something to tell that might help people. Well, I have been neglecting that for too long. The title of my post is the title of a song by Elephant 6ers Beulah...they also worked in the same district as me and they wrote that song about their experience being musicians and trying to work there. Sinister: Bournemouth Runner

I have it on good authority that the theatre in Bournemouth where B&S are playing has one of those old wurlitzer organs that comes up out of the ground, which is good news for Chris Geddes fans everywhere, and should ensure a sell-out crowd. I'm not making this up by the way. The wurlitzer has probably got a mind of its own and will rise up silently with all its lights flshing when Isobel starts singing. In fact, it'll probably go on the whole tour and rise up silently with all its lights flashing behind Big Stu in the Royal Albert Hall. And you'll probably find it propping up the bar in the Saracen's Head when you all troop in for a pint of draught Buckfast before the Barrowlands gigs. I'm reading a book called PLEASE KILL ME. It's absolutely filthy. I'm sure you'd all like it. It's about "punk rockers". Mr Chris is playing tomorrow night. Full report on Monday please. Hello friends, I've got a few things to post about this time. THE LOCUST I am jealous of Andrew Churchman, for I was going to see the Locust in Philly on early July but I've got to go to a wedding. THE LETTER TO ISOBEL The letter to Isobel is a bit embarassing and is very wrinkled from being in my gym shorts for much of the semester. I am afraid it is rather anti-climactic and that posting it may be a bit dull for the readers. Plus, a lot of the words are smeared and/or crossed out so I'd have to fill in new bits on my own. THE BLACK SESSIONS VIDEO I got my Black Sessions video in the post yesterday. I really enjoyed it, although the picture quality was, er, not so good... do the camera angles during Poupee de Cire, Poupee de Son make anyone else feel a bit disoriented? Perhaps it's just my brain doing an Isobel overload of sorts. COLDPLAY I know they're not exactly revered on the list, but if anybody's going to the Philly show tomorrow, e-mail me please, I'd love to meet you. RHODE ISLAND I read on a website that Belle & Sebastian were originally called Rhode Island. Is this true? Sinister: Anthemic, rousing cheese

Well, I don't often post to this list, but it has to be said, I (reluctantly) agree with Hannah. She's so full of shit, that girl - god knows why anyone would go out with her, but she obviously has some gullible 'new found boyf'. Poor guy. Anyway... I too thought that Dimitra's post was something brilliant - it certainly touched me, it made me happy and sad at the same time - it was kind of like a B&S song. A beautiful opening post. Anyway, I've just started working in a trendy interior design shop in Norf London at the moment (Falconer in Muswell Hill if anybody wants to pop in and have a chat), and today was payday, so I'm going to go out and try to impress this girl I like by taking her to the cinema or summit. I don't really like the job much though - the only good bit is celebrities coming into the shop. So far we've had John Simm, Danny Embrace, Jo Whiley (**swoooon**), Alexei Sayle and Bernard Butler. And that's only in a week. Everything's ridiculously overpriced, but looks quite trendy. It's just really boring and shop policy is that you have to stand up all the bluddy time, which gets really tiring after a while. Anyway, I'm currently making a mix-tape for Hannah Brown of my favourite songs ever, and it's just becoming really anthemic and cheesy (some might say "rousing"), which is a bit funny really. She's making one for me too - god knows why. Perhaps she's just trying to get into my pants... Anyway, the first Embrace album is now playing, because I'm trying to work out which tracks are truly brilliant and which are just good. Any suggestions welcome. Anyway, I must stop starting all my paragraphs with "anyway", and must start stopping this post. hello.... ...i suspect i should be revising now but i'm far too tired at the moment...i feel like i havent slept in a week...perhaps i havent...perhaps i have and this is all a dream..that means i could wake up in a minute and it would still be tuesday...what in heavens name am i talking about.... alexander bartilson wrote like this: "Personally i kind of like the idea of Sinister-Land. It would be great wouldnt it?" ..can i put myself forward for the post of Minister of Transport?...that way i get to drive people around in buses all day and wear a lovely blue nylon suit...i promise i wouldnt do such a hideous job as John Prescott...and if anyone egged me then i would simply smile and drive past their stop for the next week...wow..thinking about it...bus drivers have so much power!...just watch yourselves... ...can any residents of Bournemouth recommend decent places to go after the gig?..i've been trying to find out but frankly the situation looks desperate as far as good clubs go...please prove me wrong...but i suppose making sandcastles at midnight will be just as fun....i still havent heard any of the new songs yet...but i fully expect to hear them played all week on the last haven of good daytime radio that is mark and lard...i seem to recall them playing at least two tracks almost everyday when FYHCYWLAP was out...god bless them...i never knew lard was such a profilic muscician either...i mean i knew he was in the fall but i think he he had plenty solo albums out too..anyone heard them?... ...i dont think i like these new big brother people...i was so addicted last time around it was scary...but now these people get on my nerves..they've just picked the most obvious sterotypes...camp guy,dizzy blonde,a 'scandalous' one,a 'tasty geezer',old bloke etc etc...i hope they all end up going insane and eating each others ears off...or something...of course that doesnt mean i'm not watching it every day....i'm so weak willed... ta ta.... __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? It was terrifying. Thankfully I managed to escape. Me and George Best. I'm not sure why he was in it, maybe cause he looks a bit like Jesus. Belle and Sebastian didn't feature in that one. I've just rememebred that I had a dream about Hurricane Higgins recently as well. Hedonistic sports stars and religion feature too often in my dreams for comfort. I'm waiting for when they make a film of the Book of Revelations - that'll be a larf. Or Leviticus, with Terry out of Eastenders are the third mouldering leper. But yeh, Jonathan and David, that should be a film, and our faves could do the soundtrack. Rob Butler thought it had the smuttiest line in the Bible in it, but I don't know if that's true. I seem to remember bondage being mentioned quite often. Belle and Sebastian stuff - is anyone else going to Dunfermline? Or did I buy that ticket in error? Cause I was just going up Geddes' Entry the other day, it's all the rage you know, when I realised I didn't much fancy braving that hot-bed of inbreds myself. God only knows what could happen. My horiscope says that this weekend something 'hot and streamy' will happen. I'm fully expecting to be press-ganged and forced to work in a ship's engine room.
