Bah weep, grah nah weep ninny bong, to the other Gemini Sinisterines. Just had another birthday. It was OK. I have been regressing to the age of 11 lately, and watching Transformers The Movie tonight was the pinnacle (managed about half of the Thundercats film, too). Don't know why, but David Bowie has been having an amazing influence on me lately. Glass Spider/Berlin Trilogy/Young Americans......yeah..... Saw The Mummy Returns today. It's ridiculous, but in a good way (Donna Air cameo hilarious). If that wasn't enough, there were trailers for Final Fantasy and Tomb Raider, too. Hmm, I'm sure there's something I'm meant to go to in two weeks time, but I can't remember what. Can't be all that important, I suppose...... Haven't seen that frog for a while. Must be planning something.... 1/4 of a century. So, this is what it's like...... Sinister: Birmingham! Come and see!

Its true! Its all true! Im leaving the concrete carnival that is Birmingham and scooting up to Scotland to a new job and new cake, curry and riding on Dyson experiences. I moved to Birmingham four years ago yes, thats correct all ye mocking types who dared to suggest that I was a Brummie born and bred and to be honest, I fell in love with the place in all its concrete loveliness. When I was little, we used to travel through Brum on the train from Devon up to Leicester to see my Dad. At the time, my friend Tamsin and I used to keep a journal which we took in turns to write in, and I remember (as clear as day) exclaiming in text about the shopping trollies which had been dumped in the canal and peering, as shocked as a deer caught in the headlights, at the strange place called Selly Oak Who would want to live in Silly Oak anyway? But of course once I moved there, found the lovely gallery and the fantastic Bull Ring market (God rest its soul), and learnt that Birmingham City FC were to be despised and Aston Villa were to be adored (hm..I dont think so; give me Smethwick Rangers any day), I knew that I would stay here for a while at least. It really changed, you know, in the time that I lived here. The old tacky nightclubs have been knocked down and replaced by wine bars; student curry houses have been made redundant next to fancy schmanzy Indian restaurants which dont even sell poppadums. There are canal side flats going for a bomb, and a Harvey Nicks just bursting out of its seams. So, its become a bit trendy for yours truly Im afraid. Im being Karen Millen-ed out of the city centre, and Rackhams has held my soul to ransom. Time to move, methinks. So I look forwards to bumping into you lot oop Narth in some shape or form, maybe for some fish and chips with proper tomato ketchup (none of that sauce palava!) That last post of mine was, for some reason cut up in the most despicable way and I don't know why. Here is the full version and if this is mashed up like the last one i will smash this stupid semi-translucent computer into 30000000000very small pieces which i will then flush down the bog, which will probably block it and cause lots of problems but MY PURE UNFETTERED ANGER SHOULD REACH YOU THROUGH THE USE OF CAPITALS. unhappy :(was so lazy that only rung up albert hall on monday and had sold out. Damn. Hate myself. wish was less lazy and had more willpower. oh well...life goes on la la tumpty tumpty tumpt or sommat by the beatles. heard jonathan david yesterday when they played it on Xfm, a radio station which has a slight smugness to it which I don't like but it is the only radio station i know that would even consider having anything to do with belle and sebastian so i have to listen to them. They're going to have b+s do a live session next week as well which i will force all my korn listening or geeky friends to listen to. Jonathan david is one of the most depressing songs done by belle+s so far. It really ought to be called joe ben, me being jonathan and some idiot i can't stand being david. despite albert hall dissappointments, I will trek to the place beyond beyondness-Bournemouth which is even further than Dulwich, would you believe it? I wouldn't if I were you (sorry to all those who aren't au fait with the geography of london) being as I live in Hampstead (not my fault, please don't hurt me). Has anyone else heard of Big Yoga Muffin and do they have the album as I can't find it anywhere in the shops and i only bought the single at the time not having the money easily available for another album on top of what i was buying already? Sinister: I wanna be your joey ramone

I really do wanna be your Joey Ramone. Hullo Sinister children, I hope all is well in sinisterland. Michelle R went and said: "Mr. Jim mentioned Black Box Recorder" Which is funny because I've been called Mr Jim three or four times this week, and I haven't heard that in ages. It makes me smile because it was one of my nicknames as a kid. If you guessed the source of the subject line, give yourself a cookie. It comes, of course, from Sleater-Kinney's 'Call the Doctor' album and is the title of my favorite song of that album. It's brilliant, though I'm afraid it's not for some twee sinister folk. Long live the riot grrrls, I want to marry Corin Tucker...well, not really, but she does make brilliant music. Joey Ramone is gone of course, cancer took him a few weeks ago. *sigh* Was it that long ago I was standing on the top of a car screaming the words to 'We're a happy family'? I tried to get 'The KKK Took my Baby Away' as the senior class song, and if you knew the small michigan town I grew up in you'd see why it was appropriate. We ended up with a Garth Brooks song as the class song, you can be assured I was not pleased. I'm listening to Sleater-Kinney far too loud as I type this and I'm wishing I hadn't sold my electric guitar, then I look at my beloved 12-string and I'm happy again. I must get another electric one of these days. Ahh, Joey and the other Ramones were one of those things that helped keep me sane growing up. I feel as if I've just outted myself to the list. Yes folks, I lean much more towards the punky side of the 'indie' scene. Don't hold it against me, I love the sad bastard bands as much as I love the angry bastard bands and the happy bastard bands, it's just that I was much more the punky Clash and Sex Pistols kid than the Smiths and Morrissey kid, as I matter of fact, I really don't care for the smiths all that much (put down the knives my friends, it's just a personal opinion). Of course, I could never really get into the *scene* like others did. Didn't wear leather of have tattoos or five foot mohawks (because I've always thought mohawks a bit daft) and generally just wore what I wanted. The closest I got was short, spikey plum hair and a Clash or John Lennon (who wasn't punk, but whose t-shirt got me called a commie by some redneck in 11th grade, so close enough) t-shirt. I have to laugh at some of the punky kids nowadays in their Hot Topic clothes and borrowed attitude. Though if I was honest I'd admit there were plenty like that when I was growing up. Sometimes I think I must be getting old, but no, I don't feel old at all. I don't care much for *kewl* kids who get so into the scene and the spectacle, just give me the music please. The punk music, the indie music, the ska music, the blues, the electronic music, that's all I want, thank you. I've mellowed with age (ohhh, my bones are creaking as my 25th b-day looms a few months away). Mojave 3 follows S-K into the cd player and it makes me want to lay back under a shady tree somewhere. I wish I collected vinyl, I've always said I was going to start my collection, but I also realized that if I started, my I would quickly bankrupt myself. I do so love the sound of a record. One of these days I'll begin my collection. Or I'll just cheat and find a girl who has a record collection and marry her and her collection will become our collection...I rather like that idea. Has anyone heard the new AIR album? I hadn't realized it was out already and I think I must buy it soon. If you haven't heard the VIRGIN SUICIDES soundtrack, you should go buy it and listen to it, and then read the book, and then watch the movie. You will thank me, because they are all wonderful. Otherwise, your recommended music is "Winners Never Quit" by Pedro the Lion and "Orange Ryhming Dictionary" by Jets to Brazil. Recommended reading is Philip Pullman's DARK MATERIALS trilogy (Golden Compass, Subtle Knife, and Amber Spyglass) because they are brilliant fantasy novels that I read and shared with my twelve year old niece, and we both loved them. They're light years ahead of Mr. Potter's adventures (nothing wrong with Harry though) and they even outshine poor Frodo and his ring. It's finally sank in that I'm leaving the states for six weeks on sunday to travel around the UK and Europe and see Belle and Sebastian live and now I am filled with mad energy. Sinister: delaware picnic posponed!

because of the monsoon currently falling on our fair state (and the surrounding ones as well) the picnic is going to be pushed back to next saturday, june 9, same sinister-place, same sinister-time. so, you hordes of people that were going to descend upon wilmington's rockford park to make it even more sinister than it currently is (hard to do, let me assure you) come next week. bring food. and picnic-y things to do, such as frisbees, naked twister, and the like. oh yeah, if you're going to come, let me know.
