>Well, this is becoming somewhat lengthy, so I'll leave it for now. My next

Whenever anyone mentions the fabled church hall where B&S rehearse and
record I automatically picture the church hall in Dad's Army, preferably
with the verger scurrying around in the background. No real reason, except I
don't think I've ever seen a real church hall. We had a non denominational
village hall instead. Cars were parked at owner's risk. It took me ages to
work out what that meant.
As of a week last Tuesday I am a huge reggae fan and always have been. Is
anyone familiar with a gentleman called Yabby You? I am considering a major
purchase, the 2 CD package, Jesus Dread 72-77. I think I'm going to buy it
anyway, but if someone could just tip me over the edge, I'd be grateful. I
bought The Congos on saturday, crazy name, crazy guys.
That stuff about sleaze - no one should have read it. Paul says we can't
send on jokes, and if we can't send them we can't read them either. I didn't
read it, and I'm a bit miffed that my attempt to avoid it has come to
nothing, thanks to it having been replied to. Humph. Mind you, that joke
about the sheep honking the horn was good.
The saddest song in the world? It's a toss up between I'd Rather Go Blind by
Rod Stewart and Go Now by Bessie Smith (I think). I can't think of any
others at the moment, but I'll inflict them on you as we go along, shall I?

I missed that one actually. bethey is precisely right. We are, in fact,
anti-cool. We like to wear second hand flares in front of all of the cool
people in their DKNY puffa-hotpants. We like to stay in and listen to
records rather than go out, drink half a bottle of vodka and get off with
the nearest member of any sex. We like music that has never got in the top
ten. (You see, music that hasn't been in the top ten is obviously not worth
bothering with - if the entire nation's six year olds don't nag their mum to
buy it (mr blobby) or the just-seventeen-reading 9-year olds who think that
the first thing they hear on the radio is the best thing they've ever heard
(sp~c# g£rls etc.), then it must be crap music). I can't think of much
else, bu no - we are definitely not cool. Oh, yeah, me and bethey have a
soul rather than melodrama and we also have compassion rather than
involuntary charity.

Hi everyone,
Here are some songs that make me cry (but I don't know why). I know
there's probably hundreds but I can only remember these right now.
I'm not going to expound on them because then everyone will know what an
idiot I am. Okay:
Lots of songs by the Stone Roses, especially 'I am the Resurrection'
'World View Blue' by the Blue Aeroplanes
'Seconds' by Pulp
'Broken Heart' by Spiritualized (is anyone from SF going to the show on
Thursday?)
'We Rule the School' and 'Put the Book Back on the Shelf'
and 'Scooby Doo' by Aden
Take care,
Birjinder

me and bethey were just saying how exciting it will be next time we go to a
B&S gig, all you lot (all you grown-ups) that are there are going to know
exactly who we are and they will come pick on us.
Did anyone notice us at the sunday matinee in Manchester? we felt like
everyone was looking at us cos we were so small, but I don't know. The best
bit was when we collected our tickets from the credit card bloke and I had
to explain to him that it was my Mum's credit card - it was more than
slightly amusing.
Anyway, while we were getting our tickets, the girl on the front of Dog On
Wheels was standing at the desk. I got really excited about this, but I
don't think bethey was so thrilled. Anyway, it looked like Katrina might
look (in my mind). Am I getting really sad now? I have to visualise
everyone that I see. Anyway, that could be what Katrina looks like.
The bloke on 3..6..9..Seconds is Stuart M isn't it? Someone told me who the
girl was, but I can't remember.
Anyway, just in case you were wondering, there is another 15 year old on the
list. Her name is Katrina also - alkl6163(a)emirates.net.ae .
She sits next to me in assembly at school and I introduced her to B&S, which
was nice of me.
You might be wondering why bethey hardly ever posts, unlike jong, who feels
famous because he posts so much. Anyway, bethey hasn't broken up yet, so
that's why. That's also why I appear and disappear - I'm normally too busy
in term time - I have to look out of my window for an hour and then do a bit
of homework, so that takes up lots of my time.
I hope that this totally irrelevant post has helped you remember your youth.
Does anyone remember Pigeon Street? It was a wicked cartoon, but no-one
apart from my Mum can remember it.
Well, I suppose I should do some revision for my GCSEs now (!).
See you all later,

Bless. But I can empathise. I bawled all the way through James
Taylor singing 'Fire and Rain' at the end of Running On Empty, AND at
the end of Heavenly Creatures, which people really should see before
they jump to nasty conclusions about the curvaceous Kate Winslet.
And after Empire of the Sun, too, where the boy on the bike can't
find his parents. Sob.
Anybody out there fancy starting a 'Good Will Hunting is tres tres
overrated (but has a top soundtrack)' thread?

Liz the lovely spouted:
Lets go for a nice conventional one to begin with: Something
Changed by Pulp. Possibly the least cynical and ironic song Jarvis
Cocker has ever written. And it's very lovely indeed.
oh! i think this is a great, great song ... esp the part that goes "when
we woke up that morning, we had no way of knowing, that in a matter of
hours we'd change the way were going ... where would i be now if we never
met?" i used to ache so much my ribs would heave.
take care all, be happy, be full of life & energy,

It's been a while since a song made me tear up, but when I was in high school, "Verdi Cries" by 10,000 Maniacs used to do it to me every time. There I'd be, driving though town, weeping like a child. It still gets me misty every so often.
As to Bethey's question about feeling like you're in a Belle and Sebastian song - never that, but I have felt, on a rare occasion, like a Jane Austen heroine - the proud girl getting her comeuppance that leads to realization.
