mmmm helllooo Sinisters....
boom bam boom
Gatorade! Gatorade is disgust! Have you ever try powergel? Me and my friend
went to this health food store, and we like to be energized you know? So it
promised energy..it was the most disgusting thing i ever tasted and it
reminds me of gatorade...cranberry juiced,that's a proper drink!..my dad
bought me a big bag of oranges..but they weren't..they were grapefruits, but
anyways that's what I been eating all this week and it's very good..
SO did you all have a good Valentines? I was with friends but romantically I
was alone...
backtracking...feb 10th was supposed to be my lucky day..(according to
Cosmo) on my friends lucky day some guy asked her out that she had loved for
a long time...now I went downtown all happy like but it was the wrong record
store boy there...and even that guy who's usally ncie gave me a flippant
'enjoy' as I left the store with my purchase adn that's all (oh and what did
I buy? The Smiths! Yes I did! THe Queen Is Dead at that..now I haven't
really been listening to the rest of the cd becuase I cna't stop listening
to Bigmouth Strikes Again)
that's all..so I had not lost all hope went acorss the street to pick up my
Pastels (because I had gotten a call that said I could come by anytime to
pickup) so I go there...the guy says theres nothing for me..I ask
again...and again he says it's still on order I yell 'ARE YOU PLAYING MIND
GAMES WITH ME,HOW COME ANYTHING I ORDER NEVER COMES IN!' and the two behind
counter thought this very funny and told me their friend play trick on me
"But I distinctly heard a feminine voice!" "well dave does have a feminine
voice"
grrrrr! So I listen to Tindersticks there (I try hard to search out bands i
hear you talk of here!) and it was called Curtains I think..I thought the
music was lovely..but I don't know about the guys voice.....oh well..need to
listen some more....
about edible underwear: I ate some at school the other day and it doesn't
taste good! Its like pink shopping bag..it taste bad almost as bad as gatorade.
So anyways..on feb 10th supposed to be my lucky day and i sat at Wendys
looking out the window and I thought LOVE SUCKS! and then to make matters
worse this icky guy always downthere appeared with his guitar case (but no
guitar inside) and told me i was his lost love and ruder comments, wrong
person saying the right things...
ok...odd dream...i was talking with record store boy I don't liek about how
much I loved the one I did..meanwhile the one I lvoe was parading round with
feahters or seomthing and the one i was talking to was being very sweet and
he finally said 'well dont you think i'm as lovely as him!' and he took my
hand and I said yes, that he was..but no no..wrong one...
So Valentines..i was freezing! It was like 28 below and everyone out on the
canal and i jsut had my little red knee sox on with the hearts (valentines
day..gotta wear some heart) and went into record store not expecting HIM to
be there at all and he was booom boom booom..and oh..when he looks at
me...why is he so lovely!
it didn't help that i saw great expectations after....all the couples!
Including Gwyneth and Ethan in the rain...oh me and you in the rain record
store boy..how many lil scenarios I have...
and suddenly everyone love Stuart D now...how can I compete!
BUT..yesssss..Phillipe Candelro won the bronze..good good...
AND GEEZ,all those snowboarders for Norway, everything everything abotu them
glisten! I cna't get over it...i was supposed to go snowboarding today but
noo..what did I do? I watch Mr.Holland's Opus..I've got music..I've got
rhythm!I've got my guy (no i don't) who could ask for anything more?
phhhhhhhhhhht!
smooch,
Genevieve

I'm new to the list and first of all I'd like to say Hi to everyone out there!
Secondly, I have a tape of the first two BBC sessions they have done (which
are wonderful) and I recently heard that they did a session sometime last
summer/fall. Is this true? And if it is, does anyone out there have a
tape of it and would be willing to tape it for me?
Thanks,
ANDY

Lets see your kit for games
All the girls look the same
You are challenging style for running miles
You're running miles in some boys jumper
I have been singing this set of lines all afternoon, while being drugged on a
bottle of dry white wine
and this prompted my flatmate to spill her soul about the teenage hell for late
developers
that was SHOWERS AFTER GAMES.
Oh god! what torture, I went into a shivering wreck as we re-lived tale after
tale of being dragged kicking and screaming into communal P.E. showers by
uncaring butch games mistresses.
My flatmate used to get her well-developed friend, who proudly strutted her
naked way through shower alley , with busoms flying, to run wet footprints
around her changing space , and I used to race back first as soon as the last
hockey ball was struck, heart pounding, to chuck handfuls of water on my hair
and down my legs; in an attempt to foil eagle- eyed P.E. teachers.
And in the event of being forced at gunpoint to run through those showers, you
sprinted so fast that the water didn't even touch you!, so What was the fucking
point?
Am I in my own embarrasing little world here or does anyone else feel the same
way?

as much as i love the groovy little numbers (you make my head explode is a
classic!)
in a pinch id have to choose the astrud gilberto version of windy off the
album of the same name.
her first foray into 60's pop, straying from the world of bossanova. the
album is terrific, a mix of covers and originals wrapped in 60's production.

hey.
i was in athens last night to see the oh-so-overrated superchunk not
because i love them, but because i love the opening band.......ladybug
transistor.
i know i've mentioned them before and those of you who haven't heard of
them probably do what i do when i hear about some little known obscure
indie band and i just go "ah poo" to myself quietly and forget i ever
heard about them. you betta recognize.
if it weren't for "iyfs", then ladybug transistor "beverley atonale"
would've been the best piece of something to come out since sometime
before.
anyway, for the b&s content i alluded to......
i was talking to the ladybug boys and girls and talk got around to our
beloved b&s and the singer said, and i quote "i worship the fucking
ground they walk on" and then one of the girls (the bass player) nodded
her head in agreement. and then mac superchunk walked out and he heard
us talking about them and pretty soon the club was almost transformed
into the church of belle and sebastian. it was quite a moment. and you
should've seen the glow on the faces of the ladybug people and mac
superchunk when talking of b&s. it was almost as if we were all talking
of some sacred lost shrine that's gonna save the world. i guess it was
just cool that fairly famous (or at least recognizable) people feel the
same way we do about the band.
anyway, i guess that wasn't much b&s content, but it was more than i
usually have.
oh yeah......go purchase ladybug transistor "beverley atonale". it's on
merge in the states. not sure about overseas. stay away from their first
album "marlborough farms" (for now).

Yes, that one is actually the oasis of "insipid cack". §;^D

The obvious problem is that you've drawn early conclusions after
encountering one single song by a band called Loving Spoonfull ... do
yourself a favour and check out the band formerly known as *Lovin' Spoonful*
(instead ?) ...

That certainly explains a lot. Have you seen the world lately? I've seen it
written that the world would be a boring place if we all had the same
taste. This is clearly wrong, if we all had the same taste as me the world
would be fantastic.

"What can I say ?" (Jetset) ...
Alistair is absolutely right, the Lovin' Spoonful were a wonderful and
highly influential Sixties band which deserve so much more than being termed
as "insipid cack" ... for example, bands like the marvellous Swinging
Sixties quartet The Smoke named the Lovin' Spoonful as their first and
foremost influence ... bringing up the thoughtless description of "insipid
cack" here is the same as characterising the Beatles as a bunch of
untalented and insignificant loosers on the Oasis list ... but then again,
someone characterised *early* Nico as "crap" on this list a few days ago ...
I wouldn't be surprised if someone named Donovan as the worst artist in the
history of Glasgow (or even better, Australia).
Personally, I always turned back to the Sixties when being unsatisfied with
the P!O!P! scene at a given time ... and I'd strongly suggest that many
P!O!P! artists are influenced by the Sixties, of course including Belle And
Sebastian ... another question for those participating in the online chat
thingie, be assured that one or the other member is even aware of less
popular Sixties acts like, for example, The West Coast Pop Art Experimental
Band.

Get him DCC ing and he's away !! , can't seem to get him off the topic ;-)
Well, I have just visited Sinister hoping to catch some people 'at it' but its
dead. shucks.
Theres just one lone intruder with the following sig:
'Couple, Fem is Bi. Looking for other couples or bi-fem to have some sexy fun.'
But they're saying nowt.
So it looks like I'll have to revert to sending Stuart D saucy postcards again
to get my kicks.
