Pity would be no more
If we did not make somebody poor
And mercy no more could be
If all were happy as we.

OK folks, I'm new here and I appreciate that this has probably been
discussed ad nauseum, but I can't be bothered to trawl through *too* many
back issues and I really do need to know what 'Le pastie de la
Bourgeousie' means.
I read 'The Secret History' and thought it fairly average, on the
recommendation of a friend who loved it. Perhaps it divides people...
Louis de Bernieres came up a couple of days ago for Capt. Correli. Read
Senor Viva and the Coca Lord...
The world is getting weirder; people who wave their arms around are more
likely to have heart attacks than people who don't....

-The Radio Sweethearts are a sort of country/pop type band. All I know
of them are a few songs on the album "Shoeshine Chartbusters",a
compilation of singles on shoeshine records. Also featured are Frank
Blake(Norman Blake & Francis McDonald),Alex Chilton and Speedboat.
When i saw the Radio Sweethearts play live in the Cottiers bar in
Glasgow, Stevie Jackson played with them for the second half of their
set, which was a very nice surprise, except that he stood behind the
speaker, so I couln't actually see him.
I've just realised they maybe got mentioned because someone else
posted this- I've got a few digests to catch up on, so sorry if I'm
repeating stuff.

Ok, this was my evil plan: join the club, see if anyone has a copy of
tigermilk I could buy and unsubscribe. Veni, vidi, vici. I was willing to
sacrifice my holidays for this rough trade bidding business, but it's
getting ridiculous. Last time I asked it was £250. And seeing that I'm not
going to the Carribean (you know, again?), the quest is over. Sob.
Happy birthday to Sarah and is she looking for anything?
Happy Valentine's day - don't believe the hype, it's important.

Absolutely right. It was a film called Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid. Kris
Kristofferson played Billy and James Coburn as Garrett. Dylan played a sort
of wandering wild west minstrel. Hearts Of Fire really was a stinker of a
movie. Rupert Everett playing a rock star? Good grief.
The 'Don't Look Back' I guess refers to the film made by D.A. Pennebaker of
Dylan's 1965 British tour.
There was also a film called Renaldo & Clara he appeared in, I think its a
concert film but I don't know anything else about it.

the chiseled good looks.......
the razor sharp wit......

the genuis mind......
i could go on for ever.
I have used my hi-tech computer technology to generate a superb hi-res

Oh dear
I don't think I'll ever be able to listen to that Roses song ever again
in the same way!

Gosh, I wanted to cry reading your chosen lyrics... Cheer up, it can't
be all that bad! WE love you!
Do the band still read this?
If so I would like to take the opportunity to personally invite all of
them to lunch or tea or whatever when they come to San Francisco on
their tour. (You WILL be coming here, I suppose? it's imperative. this
city loves you) It is the very least I could do to show my appreciation
for the many hours of joy their music has brought me, hehe.
okay enough of my blethering,

Officer, arrest that man! He's drunk and his flies are undone. Sentence him
to three months in a bouncy castle followed by six months community service
playing Twister with pensioners.
I am now going to answer two questions in one: Ever read any crap? and
Quincy or Columbo? Neither of them have anything to do with B&S:
I've got a book written by hte bloke "Quincey" is based on, called "Coroner
to the Stars". It's pretty good. Far too few people are aware of Natalie
Wood's bravery when she fell off a boat wearing a snorkel parka. I can't
really remember what other cases he was on, but my alarmingly ample
knowledge of the Manson Family murders may have something to do with
it.....I've also got a book about Columbo and the Manson Family. Again, few
people are aware that Columbo was part of the investigative team way back on
the morning after the sixties. Obviously he was a bit of a rookie then, but
he was fully formed when members of the Family resurfaced with murderous
intent.
I read the whole "Coroner to the Stars" book, but I didn't bother with
Columbo versus Manson. So the winner is.....Marcus Welby MD.

Strange this Neil - cause we've been having a similar sort of problem, this
has gone on for around about 5 years now, basically, is it:
Airwolf, or Blue Thunder.
Do you go for the Insectoid Menace of Blue Thunder, or for the sleek
shark looks of Airwolf. There's numerous other factors involved here - Blue
Thunder's got a "whisper mode " which allows it to hang about outside flats
watching laydeez undressing, but by the same token, the bad guy is Malcolm
McDowell, a hero in anyone's book - and if he wants Blue Thunder destroyed -
so should you! Airwolf's copilot is the great Ernest Borgnine from The
Poseiden adventure, and the Black Hole and stuff, so there's lots of pluses
and minuses on either side. So me and all me mates would appreciate your
votes and collective wisdom on the issue
Cheers,
Keith.
