Was that at the Venue, coz I would have been there among the more
people?? I remember Thom going around handing out stickers (yay!!! -
Belle and Sebastian stickers please!!) before the F&W came on. He
recognised my mate as we were in the year below them at school (have I
mentioned this before...) and said hello. He was a very polite young man
and we wished him well. Had I known he was rebuffing the artistic
efforts of his fans I'd have given "what for".
B&S link....
The Frank and Walters came on (in orange dungarees for that demented
play-group leader chic), picked up their instruments, bashed away at
them for a while before stopping and exchanging instruments, get this -
they were playing the wrong ones! I thought "this will never catch
on"...
Further B&S content...
Just received an email from an old friend in Canada who I haven't seen
for ages. Having found out from my homepage that I was into B&S he
mentioned that they didn't do much for him but he had called his two new
china fishes Belle and Sebastian. Then in what the British tabloids
would doubtless dub a "shocking outburst" he went on to say
"but I do *appreciate* having someone like Stuart around, if only to
counteract the effect of
bombastic morons like, say, Richard Ashcroft. "
Truth will out!

The strange thing is Chris, is that only last week I almost went through to
see Annie Christian in Glasgow last week who it turns out were supporting a
band called Fabulous too. This got me thinking to the tune that it couldn't
have been Simon Dudfield's fabulous, could it... could it... I don't really
know. What a bag of shite.
Cheers,
Keith.

Yeah... but they do like whinging, sub-U2 songs and "metaphorical" videos
about drowning 'n' stuff. Always find it amazing the amount of pain Thom
Yorke looks like he's in when he's singing... I suppose he's exorcising his
"inner demons" perhaps. Well I tell you, if I was in as much pain when I was
singing a song, I'd just simply not do it!

I saw radiohead in may 92 supporting "Fabulous" in King Tuts. I was
very young you realise. There where 6 people there and that Simon

I wrote to radiohead and drew a picture of them, but they never wrote
back.

Has anyone heard the scoop on Guy's (ex-House of Love) new solo album
due out in a few weeks?
Regarding Ian Curtis and Stuart Staples (and Stephen Merrit of Magnetic
Fields), I've always thought they sounded similar. However, the lyrical
content is quite different. Joy Division's 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' is
romantic doom at its finest. BTW, how does 'Curtains' compare to the
first two? I assume it's more of the same?
David and Katrina - FYI, Siren (www.sirencd.com) has Modern Rock Song as
being released on Jan 26th.

My favorite scheme is to go to a local record store and find a sealed copy of
an album (usually costs $8 or $9) and return it at a major store for something
I really want. Actually, this is how I got IYFS! The used store previously
had a copy, but it was gone. So I bought something like Barenaked Ladies and
took it to Tower. I guess I was feeling sinister that day. I feel bad now
that it turned out to be my favorite album of 1997.

If one must decide which cartoon characters the members of Belle and
Sebastian have a resemblance to, then it recently occurred to me how much
Stuart M. reminds me of Tintin, the reporter. Yes, and the Dog On Wheels is
Snowy, but I can not think who would be Captain Haddock. . . suggestions?

Re: "a return to virgin our price has to be a faulty one, which
would then be replaced with the same item or an alternative only if the same
item is not available."
Nah.... music journalists have been known to 'return' promo copies of CDs to
Our Price in exchange for a CD they actually want on a regular basis. Not that
I'd know from personal experience or anything. <g>

Isobelle is a beautiful name though I must admit and Seb is a cool
nickname for a boy (not as cool as Northy though)
Good thing the band aren't called
Marmaduke & Nellie
PS - anyone out there read the Bible Code book?
If so - scary innit?
np: Luscious Jackson - Naked Eye
bye from the now accepted Northy (ta Tag!)
