Hello,
Just a little note to say that some of us are meeting at 8 o'clock
(p.m.) on Thursday at the Good Mixer, so anyone who fancies meeting up
for a drink and/or going to see Libido afterwards (Norwegian group -
I've never heard them, but Elisabeth Z speaks highly) should be there
then.

At long last Belle & Sebastian have arrived to Iceland, So all of you
Icelandic fans can stop worrying (all two of us:me and my boyfriend). We
heard them on a radioshow this weekend and one of their album(yes only
one copy) i saw in a store ( i made my friend buy the other one!). On
this radioshow they played Seymour Stein, Sleep around the clock and
slow graffiti
Something all of you have probably heard thousand times, but it was the
first time for us.
And you know what? The dj even mentioned you guys-he said that people
on the internet were talking about how they cried their eyes out every
time they listened to B&S, which is kind of true-right? There was a spy
among us!!! This has helped us pass the time while we're waiting for
our 8-369seconds,8-dog on wheels
order from David which should arrive anyminuite now(was that the doorbell?)
(a little story- not a very interesting one,but what the hell) We
first heard B&S on alternative nation this summer, and when we went to
London we ( i'm using this" we" an awfull lot aint i)bought IYFS and
LLPJ- that evening we(here i go again) came tired to our b&b only to
read in london time out magazine that B&S were having a
consert that same night in the Union chapel- which we had absolutly no
idea where was and saw no chance of getting there, then for the sake
of comfort we decided that it was sold out. We spent that night in Sega world.
p.s.Pam: Orvar wants to tell you that he is sorry he hasnt sent you
the tape yet
but it's on the way.Ok

This is my review of the Sunday night Manchester gigs, which will be

First things first...
I am new to the B&S list, subscribe to the digest form, and have been
loving IYFS for about six months. I am into many many other bands who I
won't bore you with listing here, but I will slide in Pulp because I think
many from lipgloss are on this as well.
So my cliched, yet important- to -me -so- don't -slam me -'cos- I- need -to
-know questions:
Is 'Tigermilk' going to be re-released as I have heard? If not, could
somebody make me a copy?
What was the talk of posters? Is there an IYFS poster available? I would
love to frame it, as I consider it a work of art.
weell....thats all for now.
thanks

The question about the only duo with two mid-priced LPs in 97 - the only duos I
can think of are Wham, Simon & Garfunkel, Tears for Fears, Foster & Allen (only
joking), Sam & Dave, The Eurythmics, Bros(joking again).
Any of these suggestion correct I wonder?
Hope this helps in the quest,
Daniel.

So Stuart David is still my prom date..but Anthony Reynolds,Brett
Anderson,Neil Codling,Simon Stafford,Colin Greenwood and Neil Hannon get to
sit there and look pretty, along with saucy stuart evans and the lovely laurel.

A friend of mine is going to burn a CD for Tigermilk for me too. I prefer
vinyl then cd's and tapes a distant third. Since I don't own the LP and I
hate tapes, he's burning my tape copy onto a disc for me to listen too.

I remember how angry I was last autumn when this whole bootlegging Tigermilk thingy started. Parachute wanted a CDROM so he could listen to Tigermilk. Jeepster reponded (with a great lack of political couth in my humble opinion) threatening legal action against anyone who tried to produce a CD copy which in a way was strange because Jeepster does not even own the recording.
Since then, I have come to be more sympathetic to the Jeepster side as comes to bootlegs. I mean, it's just not right for someone to be stealing their bit of intellectual property and amassing huge profits as a result.
Further, just to comfort B&S and/or Jeepster, CD's mass produced from a Vinyl source would be inferior to those from the Master Tape unless a great deal of money was spent trying to digitally remaster the sound. Also, cateran on chat made it known that Cdroms, played on a regual CD player which lack the ability to oversample them, sound noticeably infererior (if one is an audiophile).
Now that doesn't mean that someone trying to make money wouldn't be able to peddle these inferior products making and making appreciable profit. Frankly though, I don't think Jeester, Electric Honey, or Belle and Sebastian would be able to do anything to stop it. In effect, the only thing protecting Belle and Sebastian right now is their relative obscurity.
However, it's really unfair to unleash that kind of anger we saw last fall on list members. We are their biggest fans. We're the ones who enjoy most listening to their music. We are the ones who proselytize their music to the world. We are not going to want to screw up B&S's musical careers. Don't make us feel like pariahs.

Could the top forty mid-price duo be the Chemical Brothers? Don't have any
of their albums, so don't know what they cost though? And surely Patio Song
by Gorky's got in the top forty - or was that last year...
