> Anyone know or heard of The Jennifers ?, they're playing at my Uni
tonight
> and I'm wondering if it's worth missing the Liv/Celtic match for it????
Well of course this is going to be too late for you, Nathan, but I thought
it was worth being publically amazed on this point, for The Jennifers was
the name of a band which was around Oxford Early 90s, I suppose, and which
contained none other than Mickey Quinn and Danny Goffey, now both of
Supergrass! They did a few low-key singles and a bit of local gigging, and
appear to have been quite reputable.
It's just possible that the remaining members could have carried on quietly
all this time. But then it's more likely that it's just a new band. But I
ask you, 'The Jennifers? It's not exactly a good name, but I suppose it had
some special meaning for the band. But it's unlikely that anyone else would
a) come up with exactly the same name, and b) be allowed to get to the
point of gigging, and not run into problems.....
Makes you think. Do tell us [or just me if no-one else is interested] if
you hear anything that might clear this up, Nathan.

Hi!!! B&S were said to come to France in november, for the "Festival
des Inrockuptibles". Eventually, they won't play, but there are rumors
about a gig in Paris: who knows when, and where?
Thanks
Stephane

...well, not round my house, but here on the list.
He stopped off at an internet cafe and set himself in for a good coffee
and a good read. Yeah he trawled through the archives and yeah he read
the latest postings. He thinks some of this is quite amusing and other
things he thinks shouldn't be here. He wouldn't go into detials, I don't
think he wanted to offend. But he liked all the Ink Polaroids that
people posted for the compo, some had him in stitches apparently.
He's of the opinion that we've got a nice place here, and I thought we
should maybe stop and think about that, I mean here we are openly loving
this band and here he is the lead singer openly admiring our place in
cyberspace.
Bit weird when you think about it, or maybe that's just my student
philosophical tendancies.
Oh well, just thought you'd want to know he passed through.

Hello everyone
i've been wanting to share my number one B&S mishearing for some time
and now the time has come. Cast your minds back to the magnificent
opening of Stars of Track and Field...
"Paint a new coat everyday, to suit your affairs..."
I used to think wow, what a great idea. I pictured somebody staring at
an enormous wardobe thinking "hmm, which coat for today...badass pimp
look, out-of-work-football manager, winsome Indy-kid, ooh and they could
all do with a lick of paint..." I figured that was the way to have the
girls lining up to kiss you at the back of the stairs all of them mad
for your well-painted coat. At last I saw where I had been going wrong.
I was dead surprised when months later I actually read the lyrics. hey
ho.
i love this list
xx

i taped sinister for a friend and when i saw him the next time i asked
him what his favorite song was. (i didn't put the names of the songs on
his tape) so he had to sing it for me. this is what he sang:
"me and the midget don't see eye to eye on it"
and i said "it's major" and he just thought it was a funny song about
being friends with a midget.

Just noticed on the inside of the Verve album today that "BIttersweet Symphony" is credited to Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. This is hot on the heels of Allen Klein finding out that they used a sample from the Stones Orchestral version by Andrew Loog Oldham. Does anyone understand how Verve can lose their entire royalties on this point... Incidentally, it's not the main string motif that's the sample, it's much less obvious (so I'm told, I can't make it out myself). I mean, you appear to be able to make money out of doing a cover version, and when they do a completely different song with a small snatch of a weird stones cover version in itself they receive no money. Fuck... Actually I've just noticed, the credits say:
Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards
Performed by the Andrew Loog Oldham orchestra
Is somebody taking the piss here?!
Big apologies for the lack of Belle and Sebastian content.. just thought some of the people on the list might be interested.
Apologies also for apologising for the lack of B+S content.
Cheers,
Keith.
