I'm at work and laughing out loud reading this one....just
delighted by the faact that it would have been brilliant if the
word had been midget...."me and the midget don't see ey to
eye" is a wonderful phrase to turn.

Just forgot yesterday, if anybody's interested, the chords for "Stars
of Track and Field" at the chord site are correct BUT they are played
with a capo on 2nd fret, so the verse opens with open A, the chorus
is open E and Em, etc. I think its unusual for B'n'S in using so many
open chords. But I may be wrong.

Here's a good one......It's of me and Tony on our first "proper" date. We
went to the beach. Here we are by some rocks, in the sun. I look kind of
funny cause i'm wearing my yellow, star-shaped sunglasses...He makes me
feel like a superstar. All the birds were fighting over my chips, but I
gave the most to this little brown one. I don't think he could fight too
well. I didn't draw in the dumb people to our left. I was pretending they
weren't there. Tony's feeding me cherries. He looks cute in the sun.

It is now really difficult for me not to think of Belle and Sebastian as my
favorite band now that i have lived with Tigermilk for a week. I have a
couple of comments about it... First of all, has anyone noticed that the
beginning of She's Just a Baby is right from the beginning of Yes' Yours is
no Disgrace? Funny, eh? The melodies on Tigermilk are really intensely
memorable and wonderful. Does this now replace Phil Ochs' PLEASURES OF THE
HARBOR as the best out of print album? hmmmm.
I also wanted to add that if B&S do sign with Matador, that is good news
for all of us, considering how many records Matador lets Guided by Voices
put out per year. B&S will be able to be as prolific as they want.
And on an unrelated note, very excited about the coming month of concerts I
am going to see: Suzanne Vega, Billy Bragg, Seely, Moloko, Stereolab and
Maceo parker all in the coming month!

Flicking through radio channels as I sit on the train into college
this morning and what do I come across? Something that sounds very
Belle'n'Sebish... Ah, it's that nice Mr Crowley playing "Century of
Fakers" on XFM. It nearly made my morning. He also commented that
"Lazy Line Painter Jane" was frequently requested... I fear the
revolution is upon us.

I too like Scottish accents. Especially Isobel's on A Century Of
Elvis....
It is a very nice accent, but it's that of Stuart David and not Isobel.
For fans of the Glaswegian spoken word, can I tell everyone that the
original Glasgow dreamer, Ivor Cutler, will be reading from his new book 'A
Wet Handle' at my place of work, the Poetry Society in Covent Garden, on
October 8th at 7pm. He's much better than that guy who read at the Union
Chapel! Call 0171 240 2133 for further info.

i've sent this twice already and i've not seen it on the list yet. i'm
sorry if some of you have seen it more than once:

>Lilac Time are relatively hard to come by in the
>U.S., since their entire catalogue has been deleted.
i am in love with the lilac time. i think that "and love for all" and
"paradise circus" are their best. i haven't really had a difficult time
finding their albums in the US. they kind of just fall into my lap. there
was a charity shop in my home town (suburb of san diego) at which i found
several lilac time (and orange juice!) goodies. that amazed me because
nobody back there has very good taste. the last time i was in norwich i
found a "laundry" 7" for 50 pence. a couple months ago i found "welcome
to hell, here's your accordion" at a flea market here in san francisco.
the only thing i don't have is "astronauts." perhaps if you don't look
very hard you'll find what you're looking for.
and as for music i'd recommend, here you go:
the smiths, nick drake, the divine comedy, patti smith, the sundays, the
magnetic fields, al green, mary margaret o'hara, the jam, the beautiful
south, the soundtrack from 'breakfast at tiffany's,' old bowie, teenage
fanclub, roxy music, elvis costello, simon and garfunkel, the style
council, the trashcan sinatras, weekend, talk talk, burt bacharach, aztec
camera, petula clark, the beatles, mcalmont & butler, sandie shaw,
jacques brel...the list goes on and on and on...
what have i been listening to lately? belle and sebastian, por supuesto.
OH! i don't know if the question was ever answered, but the book on the
cover of lazy line painter jane is, _reason and reality_ by john
polkinghome. it's easier to read on the 12".
ta ta!
:)

ps-oops. sent this to the wrong address originally. i wanted to add,
though, that i do love scottish accents (this is in regards to that old
thread), especially when scottish women speak. for instance, ruth from
eastenders and bess from "breaking the waves."
