---------------*unlurk*---------------------- ......to point out a personal faux pas is that really a good idea? speaking of mis- hearing lyrics... i remember there was talk a while ago of a 'star wars' connection or reference in a B&S song.(?? which one) and i thought, "oh, just like in lazy line painter jane"... Keith - I took a few friends to Egg on Saturday night. We all enjoyed it. Glad to hear a fair bit of B&S. Thought I saw you, but didn't want to go over incase it was not you. [Keith Watson] I was at the Egg on Saturday - so it probably was me - but I didn't see you - sorry, I was rubbered as usual mind you - yes it was dead cool (I'm glad MS Word 97's grammar checker's not looked at that last sentence), A Century of Fakers, Put the book back on the shelf and Le Pastie de la bourgeousie - Ace. Sorry I didn't catch you - it's odd like, it's not that big a place and I can remember roughly what you look like - oh well, next time maybe. I'll probably not be there on Saturday - Death in Vegas/Black Star Liner are on at Potterrow, so I'll probably go along to that instead. I may well however be there the week subsequent. I don't have a multi-cd player, but here's the CD's in the glove compartment of my car (and therefore often played) at the moment.... Sinister: My Wandering Days Are Over

Hi! Do anyone have the lyrics to "My wandering days are over". I have a bit of a problem with internet right now, so if that anyone could just email me, I would be very grateful. I will then make you alla a report on what I thought Stuart was singing before... Or maybe not. I would also be very interested to hear from the Duke what kevin pearce thinks about Belle & Sebastia. Not that I would change my mind or really care if he dislikes them, but because he´s a briliant writer. I don´t know how many people noticed the Hal Hartley quote in "I could be dreaming", the one from Trust (I think), that goes " A family is lika a loaded gun, if you point it in the wrong direction...". Has anyone found any more Hal Hartley-oriented topics in B&S lyrics. Stuart David mentioned him as an inspiration in my interview for the fanzine STATE (which I´m trying to change to the STATE I am in - of course:-)). Oh, just read the rest of the compo thing, and the winner gets a vinyl copy of Sinister, vinyl LLPJ, Dog poster, LLPJ poster, and a t-shirt (you have to specify S/M/L) and a badge. Went to see Tanya Donnelly last night, which was super, and before she came on, they played Century of Elvis, which made me smile, and there was a small smatter of applause no less from the front, whether it was for the song, or a glimpse of Tanya, I know not. The first few listens of "Belle and Sebastian," I thought he was singing: "Belle was ok, but oh Sebastian Went too far again Christ is calling your name" (rather than "Crashed his car in the rain.") I liked this lyric quite a bit, and thought it went well with the tongue-in-cheek religion of "The State I Am In" and "If Your Feeling Sinister," and added a different twist to "Poor Sebastian is heading for a fall." Funny how it never sounds like you originally thought once you know. oh well michael ----------------------------------------------------------------------- . Yes. There was a great piece on Nick Drake in Mojo in the February issue (or it may have been March issue - I remember reading it on the aeroplane to the West Indies, where we were studying the evolution of tree lizards whilst on a field trip - interesting eh!!) I agree that Nick Drake is more mournful (than bleak!!). The comparison I would make is that both have delightful tunes, interesting lyrics - which connect with the listener - and make you wish to have heard them on the beach at Guirdil bothy on the deserted Isle of Rum!!
