Oh well, any releases are good news, especially with IKWTSG on them... As for chart rules, could they not just put both the last 2 songs on as one track, like Hefner did on their last single? Then we get value for money and the band get onto Top Of The Pops as well! Other matters - to all the people waiting for tapes from me, I'm working my way through them but I was away in Lancaster last weekend so I haven't had time, be patient. (And I still haven't forgiven the girl who left her handbag in a service station halfway down the M6 and forced us to go on a 2 and a half hour detour to go back and get it... Grr...) Sinister: songs of love

This talk of the right kind of music for lurrvvve is all very well, but what about the wrong kind of music? Someone I used to go out with had a mood tape for the laydeez which had that Momus song that goes "Girl you know it's true.... girl I'm only doing it to get next to you." Nothing wrong with that, you might think, but this was followed by Ravel's Bolero and then for a triumphant finale Nessun Dorma... beat that for ill-judged. (I'm not naming and shaming him because he's known to at least one person on this list.) I agree with whoever said that Belle and Sebastian doesn't work in that context. There's too much going on in the sound. "...As he wets himself for the final time" - you can't convince me that's the ideal soundtrack for passion. I like the idea of a list meet-up in London, though I might be too shy to go. I went to the Poetry Cafe last week to see a friend of a friend's rather lacklustre paintings. I expected to find the point jumping with Belle and Sebastian fans. I couldn't even get the guy behind the bar to play TWATTYBUS. Julian Cope's book looks cool. All that quasi-mysticism, knolls and sacred stones. I'm giving it to my Dad for his Christmas. Oui oui il y a six boucherons sur ma cachalot. Can't tell you the feeling of sympathetic cavitating hollow dysfulfillment I felt for all who trekked to Philly for the old bait 'n' switch, as Cinerama became the pop sensation for the night I see. Lemme tell ya DISCHARGE never cancelled a show 'cause some band member got sick, in fact Dave projectile-vomited all over me the night I saw them and dammit I was happy as a pig in, well, vomit. Anyway. I'm glad that seeing other people, at least that's what you said you were doing, was almost as good, I was supposed to meet someone at DC's Momus show but approached no one to ask because everyone looked, so, well SINISTER!!! Hooray! Being an opportunistic sexual predator I can never say I got to plan out and try and actually find a good album for ringin' those bells, that tower chime, runnin' my chub through a hundred honeys at a time, but lemme tell ya, after years of wondering I finally wound up nastifyin' to the tune of John Spencer Blues Explosion, with someone who'd never heard it before..... can I tell you, guys, that you can last forever as long as you're (both) laughing your ass off? (Be worried, be very worried, if only one of you is laughing). Yes, trying to be passionate and romantic and sweet and all-Barry-White-shit-baby-I'll make-yo-toenails-curl and to hear "Take a whiff of my pant leg, baby! FUCK! Oh yeah!" Someday I'll have a CD carousel and STAR TIME and then I'll see what true love is made of. Can I tell you I just got out of an elevator that was playing a MUZAK "Northern Sky"? Can I say that I wasn't repulsed? Or is that the point? O.K. I'll be at the Washington D.C. show..... I quit smoking on Friday, and I'll be in a ridiculous umber-green-and-yello dashiki, so hey you NO GIVING CIGARETTES TO THE MAN IN THE DASHIKI! Sinister: Just received a staggering 301 mails...

Hello there I have been doing various things over the past week that have kept me from using my computer, and so I hadn't checked my mail since Friday evening. I pressed get message and it said "Receiving 1 of 301 messages". I had expected a lot, but that was amazing. And I will tell you what else - I actually went through them all. As you may have gathered, I have only just had the torrent of news about Isobel and the concerts and things, and it was all rather a lot to take in at once. I gather that now Isobel is a lot better, which of course is great. Also, everyone seems to have got over their misfortunes. I must say thank you to IndiaRubb@aol for the tabs, and for the people that sent in the corrections. I am always pleased to be able to play more music, especially from TBWTAS. It is also great to have got a load of mails from Honey, as I haven't had many before. Nice to know he is there, watching over us all. By the way, does anybody on the list read Alistair MacLean books? If so I would like to know, as I am fast running out of books and need more to fuel my thirst for his literature. In case you don't know who he is, he wrote The Guns of Navarone - you may have seen the film. Wow! I have never written an mail this long before. Hope I haven't bored you too much. Glad to hear about the new releases from B&S and Salako - I will have to save up my pocket money. Well, better be off. << Everyone should meet up in Brighton, on New Years Eve, at My house, Everyone in THE WORLD!!!!!!!>> Brighton sounds more do-able than Glasgow (to those of us who possibly can't do Glasgow) but I have to admit the idea of going to Brighton intimidates me!! ::envisions uber-trendy mod brigade headed by STiNG, in fisticuffs with big denim-clad types::: no, must remember -- it's just a movie...just a movie...just... The party is now tentatively scheduled for New year's Day in glasgow, it seems, but won't public transport be difficult then? At any rate, i look forward to meeting everyone/anyone where and whenever you ultimately decide to have the do. People have been very sweet and generous in offering their assistance while i'm in the Uk and i'm barely able to wait the remaining two months til my vacation! Someone suggested we speculate on the real reason isobel quote/unquote got sick, no doubt in order to add nasty rumors to the smut already prevalent here and ensure the Sinister list lives up to its name... admittedly, some nasty thoughts passed thru my mind, especially when the russian midget strippers were mentioned (thought that was a South Park reference?) but for the sake of all those involved i'll just keep them to myself for now. "Stomach flu", it is. roll on dec 7th!! tata, erica america PS So the words are....
