Well put, Corpora (er...) you seem to have your digits on the pulse of the youth culture of today. Anyone who owns a dashiki has my utmost respect and my sincerest condolences. Please, post more often. Now, would you mind telling the rest of us what the hell a(n) "arenecea" is? I've been racking my brains for answers. I don't know why it matters, but it just does. I have a question for the Duke (are you still there?): Do you have any idea who the band ELKA is? I saw them open for Morrisey at the Warfield (I was working there at the time so don't start). I was really struck by Elka, especially their drummer who set up his cymbal behind and above ala Keith Moon. I talked to them for a bit after the show and they said they might be releasing something soon, etc. That's it. Nothing more. This was months ago. Any leads would be appreciated. Good luck to all. Sinister: Brighton meet up on the jeepster page

Hi there, I just thought that seeing as the idea of having a southern meet up has had a good reponse, i thought that I'd put up a little note on the jeepster page, so as to stop filling up honeys in tray with things other than smut. And as for brighton being ubertrendy, or whatever the quote is, its not too much like that, it just means that you can dress in whatever style you like (I favour austrian folk dancer *) and people don't judge you. Lots of styles and lots of fashionable people which is nice. *Before people start getting the wrong idea of me again, that is another sarcastic comment, taking the mickey out of the toss which I've just written. New single, oh I'm excited, and today while in Brighton I got the Fieldmice anthology (a cross between the stone roses and belle and sebastian, or is that just me) and the mojave 3 album (very Nick Drake, and my mum said it sounded "very dylany") I thought that I'd recommend them to you, and also the Mercury Rev album. See you in Brighton (even if it is just the 5 of us) ? Around new year? before or after? email me privately. talking about mondegreens a while back? I discovered this explanation on the web . . . The term "mondegreen" was invented by the writer Sylvia Wright in 1954, and for an explanation of the circumstances, we turn to Mr. Mondegreen himself, columnist Jon Carroll of the San Francisco Chronicle, who has made it his personal crusade to popularize the care and feeding of mondegreens: "As a child [Sylvia Wright] had heard the Scottish ballad ''The Bonny Earl of Murray" and had believed that one stanza went like this: Ye Highlands and Ye Lowlands, Oh where hae you been?, They hae slay the Earl of Murray, And Lady Mondegreen. "Poor Lady Mondegreen, thought Sylvia Wright. A tragic heroine dying with her liege; how poetic. When it turned out, some years later, that what they had actually done was slay the Earl of Murray and lay him on the green, Wright was so distraught by the sudden disappearance of her heroine that she memorialized her with a neologism."
