whewwww blake emerges from his bear cave with crusty eyes, feeble knees and an overwhelming sense of overall disorientation. i had some computer problems (read: my email program blew up due to a viral infection. though i gave it tissues and cold medicine, dimetapp of course, and now it's chipper and, oh wait....it just said that it loves me) but i have returned only after all of the B&S gigs have ended. i feel like the kid who passes out at the party and wakes up later on a nasty couch after everyone has left and gone home. or gone upstairs to be smutty. probably the latter. so i'm assuming i've missed much. so i won't even bother to ask about 1) interesting gig stories 2) attempts to snog isobel or 3) attempts to snog struan. that just wouldn't be proper. i could also go into a long tangent about all of this great music i've discovered, but then, i don't think i'm ever really cutting edge, so i'm not even going to bother. i could also relinquish further details on my heart being broken. but guess what? it hasn't! that's right, this super glue is holding the little pieces of my heart firmly together and i'm proud to say that so far, so good. i'm not as willing to totally fall for restaurant girls, or anything of that nature. i do have a question though--say you're with your fellow cronies, and a girl introduces herself to your group because you've met some mutual friends at an establishment. what if, say, during dinner, you catch this very pretty girl taking photos of you? would you be scared? flattered? or would you run across the floor of the establishment, disrupt many a conversation, and jump all over her? yea. this happened to me. she actually took two pictures, i believe. but of course, i pretended not to realize this. sorry, i didn't jump on her. that's not blake's style, you see. my style is sort of a semi-run out the door. maybe i'll run into her again, demand as to why she took such pictures, and before she can get a word out, plant one on her delicious lips and wait for the magic. ahh. i do like the sound of that. and then i'll wait for the inevitable slap. on the cusp of slumber, the nerdy shy-eyed pacifist blake +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail sinister(a)missprint.org. I have no idea if this has been mentioned before by other lisetees (in that I haven't posted here for a year or so), but having been @ the Retro Bar in sexy Olde Londone Towne this eve, at a Motown/Stax/Northern Soul Pop Quiz, it became apparent where B&S have ripped off Take Your Carriage Clock... from. It's IDENTICAL to I've Never Been To Me, by Charlene (horrible old early '80s Europop ballad, which my brother tortured me with daily as a sprite). And, yes, it was released on Motown, which may explain Mr Murdoch having reappropriated it. Heigh, and indeed, ho. Or perhaps the increasing level of derivation re: any B&S track post-Arab Strap is purely a subconscious thing. Who knows? Attended the Albert Hall gig with the listee formerly known as FunkySeb (who is out tonight DJing at Detox with MY records, and sulking like a child to the point that he won't talk to me right now - cheers!) and adored the fact that they finished with Everyday People, though somewhat nonplussed by the amount of bullish arseholes in the audience who seemed to neither know nor care about the band. Having said that, I wish I hadn't bothered going. If Belle & Seb really want to be a Mamas & The Papas/New Seekers tribute band, fair enough, but I sure 'aint jumping on at that particular bus stop (hi, Kirsten!). Inevitably, knowing Stu's propensity to re-record tracks to the point of ultimate blandness, the issued version of Middle-Distance Runner was cock, and it's all gone a tad "you're making me forget my dreams" for me, so I shall have to close my ears to any further B&S communiques - you know how it is when bands start shitting on themselves from a great height? They all do it. Eeeurgh. Anyway, that's just my opinion. See you on Stars In Their Eyes! Kristen's post opened a flood of old memories... I grew up in a VERY rural area, some of my neighbors, whose homes you couldn't see from the road, had no indoor plumbing, but they compensated by having lots of dogs and guns (YeeeeHaw!). Anyway, I spent a lot of my time riding the bus to and from school, at one time it took one hour each way, so when I got home I would be in a rather claustrophobic state and head straight for the woods. The squirrels liked to throw things at me from their nests but the fox (B&S content?) seemed to tolerate me. My woods were great, lots of trees of course, a creek (or crick), a small cliff for climbing on, and cows that liked to gang up on me. Actually the cows kept to the pastures surrounding the woods so the only part that felt like school was the walk from the house to the trees (stupid bully cows). When I was smallest I would keep to the close-to-home bits of the forest. When I got bigger and didn't like playing war anymore I would walk about with my walkman, listening to Morrissey moan my moans and Robert Smith wail my wails, I moved beyond my woods through farther fields to other woods. I found an animal graveyard with lots of bones scattered about. Once in winter I tracked a fox tracking a rabbit (I asked him where he was going and he said he was finding something to eat so I left him to it.) Turns out I was being tracked too, three hip-high calves were following me. They got really close up but were too skittish to make proper introductions. Anyway two years ago they started putting houses in, and my trees are fewer now. The cows are gone replaced with aluminum siding. Sinister: i love the bus

it's bloody hot as hell outside. i'm at my parents' house, and today i braved the heat and went out to a little wood nearby to draw trees and write songs. it was funny being there again. i can remember cindy and i, twiggy little barefoot girls concocting magical summertime potions of berries and swampmud, or boldy embarking on 45- minute survival expeditions. i also remember years later when i, overcome with teenage angst, would storm out of the house and spend hours in a little clearing smoking cigarettes and jumping in mud puddles. it was quite therapeutic. speaking of which, i only recently turned twenty, and the day before my birthday some boys reminded me that i was spending my last day as a teenager, and therefore my years of true "teenage angst" were nearly past. i panicked and tried to scowl for the rest of the day, but it was exhausting and then i got drunk and all was lost. anyway, i plan on retaining some of my angst til i'm well into my eighties, thank you very much. i want to be eighty years old speeding around on my electric wheelchair, giving em all hell. not for awhile, though. love kirsten ps---looking at lovely RAH photos makes me cry because i missed it by less than twelve hours but i keep looking anyway. mwah Care2 make the world greener! http://www.care2.com - Get your Free e-mail account that helps save Wildlife! +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail sinister(a)missprint.org. sorry to post twice in as many days but contrary to the narrow wizard's belief there *are* enough of us to have a pic-er-nic in Newcastle! i seem to have stolen the crown of north-eastern picnic mummy and as mummy i say saturday the 18th of August is the provisional date pencilled in on my diary. if lots of people have problems with this mail me (off list) and if this is ideal then mail me also! if you think you have the ideal spot (not old eldon square, too many goths) let me know cheers. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ oh! jonathan david arrived this morning at bluddy 6:52 with the postman ringing the doorbell - worth getting out of my pit for though. had a huge amount to say words of wisdom amassed over the last couple of months since ive been gone epic artistry to bore into your brain and electrify your soul (from the greek psuche- that by virtue of which there is life) truth to drip through your bones and make you whole. but...well...erm I seem to have forgotten it and of course there was all the replies to the posts ive just read through but i dont want to crush you with the volume of text on stuff thats been commented on by others already (and they with better comments from better brains than mine) so what am i left with? and will there be any actual content? and i know i could argue on philosophical grounds that there has never been content here (though much contentment- thanks for that) but where would we be then (ahh the troubles of philosophy) and what would we do there?
