OK so i've never had a Belle and Sebastian dream but last night I had a list dream! Although I don't remember too much about it, it clearly featured; archaelogy, a wedding and certain prominent list members (none of whom were being dug up or getting married and all of whom were fully clothed at all times I hasten to add). I'm not going to do any "naming and shaming", but I thought I should share with the group. I had been watching Time Team and Honeymoon in Vegas which explains part of it and listening to a lot of Belle and Sebastian (particularly Photo Jenny which I undervoted seriously, David). i like your attention to detail. fopp in edinburgh have gor ricky ross's solo album next to the till for 99p on CD. i'm not recommending it, but whilst i was in there 2 customers bought it on impulse! 99p; so much less than 1. kate Strange you should say that, over the past year or so, they've had hundreds of these, and I've had this strange fantasy that one day I'd like to go in and buy them all, just to cheer the staff up! that now, when I have more work than I can possibly conceive of, I should dash off a quick posting to the list. 1) I speak Spanish. Hablo español. Alguien en esta lista quien quiera discutir B&S en español, ¡escribame! Me gusta decirme que escribir a los listees españoles es una manera de practicar la lengua...y entonces no me siento tan mala cuando gasto tiempo escribiendo emails en vez de, no sé, leer un ensayo de Simón Bolivar o algo así. 2) B&S made it in the top 10 of my university's radio station's playlist last week! the "3, 6, 9..." EP is still wowing Djs and listeners alike. And I got IYFS on vinyl, and it does sound a little different than the enclave CD version, but I think that's more a result of the different medium... 3) Trembling Blue Stars: I just stumbled upon their latest album, and it's so pleasant...can anyone tell me more about them? 4) my carp! I seem to have lost my treasured carp in the Sinister room! this was the same carp I used to smack Stuart D. when he stumbled in there over the weekend...has anyone seen it? St. Lucy? Pyth? Johnm? Minka? Risso? HoneyPaulieGrrrlChile? I'd hate to have to resort to, say, sea bass. And besides, it was sort of like a relic, you know? 5) anyone who I've arranged to send tapes to...please email me to remind me of exactly what I am to be sending you! Hi all. A message about dreaming, also about Tigermilk, and Madonna. I'm a relatively newfangled BAS junkie in New York--does anyone know if Tigermilk is available anywhere in the states? Does someone have tapes? So I hear Matador is signing BAS--what can we expect from Madonna's label?--a publicity blitz a la Alannis Morisette and Prodigy; BAS on every "new music" station, some idiot screaming that they're the most exciting new band since Sugar Ray.... Will we feel so special once that's happened? Oh well. For now, rainy night in New York, no kissing (even for practice) tonight, so I watched the fish salesmen at the Fulton Fishport... listened to what I have... wish I was in Scotland. By the way, for ye who have trouble remembering your dreams, try this: every night before bed, write down five things worth remembering from the day ("red spider on desk", "ate a burrito, it was cold", "fell out of love", etc etc). Keep the paper by your bed. When you wake up, IMMEDIATELY write down the images in your brain at that moment ("stupid alarm clock", "rain leak under window", "something red i can't remember", etc.). Do it every morning and every night. Within two weeks (probably less) you'll start remembering your dreams; you'll wake up and instead of writing "stupid alarm clock" you'll write a novel-length dream.... trust me, it works, just requires a little work. Dear Sinister sweetie-pies, Hello! So did you all have a good week? I get to be a Draculette for this play! I had to go up on stage and sing a song I knew well...I thought of singing Belle and Sebastian(guess what,my friend is going out with a 'really foxy boy' and his name is Sebastian...well not exactly..it's Jean-Sebastian..but close enough!) but the first song that came to my head was Somewhere Beyond The Sea...I forgot the rest of the song after I'd sung the first bit,but I think the teachs like it...don't know what a Draculette does,but I'm it! Anyways...so I went to my friends birthday party last night..it was really cosy..at times too cosy,I was squished under 5 idiots who kept telling me how they lit a tree on fire...there were like 20 something people in this tiny tiny room..and it was all dark...with just black lights and we allpiled on one another on these lovely couches...but now I'm afraid,this guy there is scaring me..he tried to cover my face with his hand to see if I'd trust him..it's not a matter of trust,I jsut don't want somebodys hand covering my face!So I moved away and sat on a ledge by the window over the couches observing everything, to get some air...and suddenly he's there telling me about all these bands I don't knowand do I like White Zombie but I'm looking at him from upside down on my back..and it's funny you know...because it looks like his chin is his nose and I'm mesmerized by this..and later while trying to sit closer to someone ELSE I complained about my foot falling asleep when he suddenly starts giving me a foot rub and I'm like 'oh..lovely,we're friends now,he's my gal-pal,we can go to the spa together' but no no,we're not just friends to him.. so anywyas,things went from bad to worse..ahhh...ick ick ick....scary,I need one of you to jump in a box and get sent here,to pose as a boyfriend for a day! I am not looking forward to monday... This other guy borrowed my discman for class and IYFS was in it and when he came back he said he hated them,that they sounded like they were background music at high school b-movies or soemthing..I don't know!..he was babbling out of control,and he made some rude comments so I smacked him against the lockers. Where can I find Belle and Sebastian t-shirts,or are they all stolen!? I will run through the fields with it on so happily if I could get one! The last of the red dye drained down the sink,I am back to a brunette...so now this bring up more dilemma...chop all hair off? *sigh* All the boyz are watching the Super Bowl!...half time show...
