Both of those are lyrics by The Pooh Sticks, a mid-to-late '80's twee band
from South Wales. "On Tape" was a single.

An ill Stuart Gardiner rote:
>Oh, and cheer up Sarah, you're not the only one feeling miserable, at
least you're not (as far as I know!) on painkillers and various other
drugs at the moment 'cos of an operation last Monday :-( Can I have some
sympathy now please?
Dear Tall Git, you can have my sympathetic aaahs... & (did it hurt?)
(and pray tell, what exactly are these very vague "various other drugs" ? )
A mysterious Mr. Peter rote:
>Keith, your description of Air has certainly cleared up any doubts I may
have had. That's the second time you've described something as being like
John Martyn crossed with something unlikely in recent weeks. I'll have to
have a listen to John Martyn sometime.
Alright, what is this with a divorced middle-aged ex-alckie bald tosser
otherwise known as Mr. John Martyn? And WHO dares to say he's better than
my beloved Nick Drake, anyway? I'll tell you who - the leadsinger offa
Mainstream who, when i interviewed them, reckoned that Martyn was "the real
thing" and that Nick was just some sort of shallow imposter...........
wanker.
Anyway, wasn't Martyn Nick's friend/producer/irritatin plagiarist?
But boys and girls, I have since softened and decided to listen to a couple
of his albums - anyone got in any suggestions for his finest hour that i
shooulddefinitely buy?

Today I went to the mall to pick up my first pair of glasses. I put them
on after leaving the store; my depth perception was a bit skewed. I bumped
into people and things until I found myself at a record store. It was the one
where I bought "If You're Feeling Sinister" back around 12 May. I had had a
gift certificate to the store from my sister; I was forced to purchase the
overpriced CDs. I felt guilty shopping there even though I was not even
spending my own money. I thought I would probably like the record--I had
been hearing how amazing it was for months on other pop! mailing lists and the
cover was beautiful--I bought it. When I listened to the album at home the
song "Seeing Other People" was the first one to make my insides feel like they
were being twisted around (though in turn each song has done that). My
parents had been talking to me about their concerns of my "sexual identity" (I
still do not understand why they were worried); that song made me feel like I
would just cry. Consequently, I voted very highly for that song. Another
song I gave a high score was "Belle and Sebastian" largely due to the line
"...Sebastian wrote in his diary that/He would never be young again/But you
will". The timelessness of life--of your own person--age is what you make of
it, at least that is what I thought of it. In early September I took a rest
from reading of dead Romans, laid on my back in Regents Park, under the sun
before its annual cool, and listened to the song over and over. So this is
life, I thought. "Expectations" was elected to the top of my charts also.
Oh, not just the horrors of high school, but of other people and life in
general, kicking, or looking up your skirt, when you are down; the power of
music to calm and help us commiserate and empathise with others about the
horrid parts of life. And those are just a few reasons why I voted the way I
did.
Living and loving
Matthew

It doesn't mean anything in french.According to the official site
(and one of the videos apparently but I didn't see then-are they
broadcast on some french TV ? ) "Le pastie de la bourgeoisie" is a
graffiti they found on a bakery in Glasgow. And they think the one who
had wrote it thought it means "bakery" in french. But it doesn't.

I am not a happy bunny.
And John and Laurel and Matt and Paul and Andy and Tag and everyone else
I have talked to on there, well, it was fun!
I have now deleted my program from my home pooter. However it is not
delted from my u:\ drive at college heehee. I don't know if I am allowed
to have that there but I do. So I will try and join 4 to 4.30 and during
the day.
I am a most uncontent bunny. In fact I am a very upset bunny.
Never listen to Honey. He'll break your heart into little
pieces.
Oh I don't mean that I'm only kidding.
If anybody would like to help me out with the phonebill..... I'm not at
*all* proud! :-)

I'm too melancholy to quote Tom Jones. What can I quote?

Is that comfort is more reliable and true
Brutal and mocking yet always there
A crutch for emnitys saddest glare"

I am feeling even more stupid due to my first ever proper interview with the
Pastels not recording due to borrowing a dodgy tape. Nothing works out right.
And even when it did record, I wish it didn't becuase my voice is horrible. But
hey. Coulda been worse. I could be very ill at the moment. Oh I am. Bugger....
Sorry, i forget this aint the Sinister counselling service :o)

To save the bother of writing to everyone individually, just thought I'd
say that anyone who has asked me for a tape, I will be sending them out as
soon as I can, and hopefully all by Monday.
Isn't the Air record good? My flatmate, who is normally indifferent to all
my CDs, has borrowed it already. I am suspicious that a member of this
list has written its review in my uni paper - not only did it get half a
page of uninterrupted praise, but the headline was 'Belle-Air'. Does
anyone own up?
Bad news: Dubstar have postponed their Cambridge date due to food
poisoning. I went to see them here two years ago and they cancelled then
as well.
Finally, does anyone know if B&S are touring the new album?
Yours busily making tapes,
Mark

Well, I can confirm EVOL doesn't play B&S.
It's shite as well (unless you like a night of Oasis and Cypress Hill)
Please let us know if there are any places in countries other than the
UK who would play B&S and make a night out very special.

Pam Berry take note!!! What is 7 UK pounds in US Greenbacks?
Love and cherish LLPJ posters, they should not have monetary value.
Jeepster - What are these encoded MIME file thingies I keep receiving?
For all I know I may be receiving the meaning of life, or a prize such
as B&S playing in my club for nothing. 'cept I can't read them.

this always happens, please fill in your reply-to details in your prefs.
and while i'm here, if your using communicator 4, please check that the
option under edit>preferences>mail&group>messages is switched to NOT
send html by default.
apparently this causes some people not to see your message (as was the
case with jeepster and recently us).
thanks david
sorry for the lack of b&s content, but this is a common list problem
apparently
