last night i was listening to R4's book at bedtime, an ian banks
novel about a scottish rock group called "frozen gold" and their ups
'n' doons of being the biggest thing since jesus and the traumas of
standing next to the dry ice machine when on stage...
it had been turned into play really and was interspersed with all
these musical snips, supposedly of the band's big hits ( one song
began with the laydee proclaiming truths of "shell like ears" )...
and apparently all these were sung by a certain monica queen! life
just gets better and better once you duet with b & s.

i thought it was stevie that was asked this? (i was in a position of power,
right in front of stuart murdoch) anyway he definitly said it was "the cake
of the aristocrats". now, stop the madness! no more pasties i beseech you.

Hi
For those of you who wrote regarding the meaning of "la pastie de la
borgeousie":
I was right in front of Stuart David at the Manchester Sunday evening
Christmas
gig. During one of the technical-hitch-gaps between songs, someone behind me
asked Stuart what it meant, and he said, "It means the cake of the rich, or
something.". However, isn't a cake in French "un gateau"? Still, there's
what
one of the band says...is there anyone French on the list who knows for
certain?
Cheers,
Paul Sumner

I'm in total agreement - and feeling slightly guilty.
I think Claire got nearer the point asking the following:
>Do they play Belle and Sebastian in Evol? (look there is some relevance
>here).
That's what we really want to know. We could build up a small register of
venues from all over who are known to have joined the cause :-)
This would be easier than the Tigermilk register.
Just a suggestion.
Bye y'all

Hello.
Sorry.
I'm one of those disgusting 'new' fans. I don't even own 'Tigermilk'.
How shocking!
If you can find it in your hearts to forgive me for never having
heard anything by B and S until mid 1997 then you could let me know what
their next release is going to be?
Also, has anyone got any good ideas for new album titles? My best
idea (so far) is 'Man About The House'
Gav
PS Off the subject maybe, but does anyone like Rialto?

Just ordered this lot from CDNow in the states (www.cdnow.com)
1) AIR : PREMIERS SYMPTOMES-THE SINGLES 7.49
2) BEDHEAD : BEHEADED 13.49
3) DEANA CARTER : DID I SHAVE MY LEGS FOR THIS? 13.49
4) DAMON & NAOMI : MORE SAD HITS 13.99
5) LEFTY FRIZZELL : BEST OF 14.49
6) HAND PICKED : TWENTY FIVE YEARS OF ROUNDER 8.49
7) ALISON KRAUSS : NOW THAT I'VE FOUND YOU 13.57
8) SILVER JEWS : NATURAL BRIDGE 13.49
9) GEORGE STRAIT : BLUE CLEAR SKY 13.99
Check the top one out - these prices are in dollars, don't forget.
Less than 5 quid - blimey. Shipping on the above costs £12 and
takes about two weeks to arrive. I may have to pay duty on them
(I've ordered twice before - once Customs made me pay duty, once
they didn't) Even if I do, the CDs work out at about £11 each, which
is nay bad at all.
Er, I have no connection with these CDNow bleeders, BTW.
regards,

ps. just been re-listening to the Triffid's 'Born Sandy Devotional'
Mmmmmmmmmmmm yumm.

OK. The best way I can describe Air is a kind of mix between say DJ Shadow,
Joni MItchell, John Martyn and the Human League. Don't know if that helps
any!
Cheers,
Keith.
