Thanks for the tape Ben - I've lost your address which is why I'm
writing here - sorry people.

tick tick of the gramophone held them together.

I don't have one myself (boo-hoo!) as I buried my head in the sand
while Keith Watson told me how good it was!!!.
I know Keith has one he had to go through to Glasgow for. I'm sure
he'll tell you himself if he gets back on-line. Judging by the jumps
the dodgy tape he gave me had, it sounds like his is scratched.
[Keith Watson]
Yes - indeed, though frankly I just don't have the time to do copies of it really - I spend loads of time doing constant copies for people in Edinburgh, who want their tapes replaced and stuff, Paul, I'll do you another one, it's not a scratched record, it's fine, it'll be my 20 year old tape player having a bad day more than likely. Incidentally, I've been on holiday and ill last week.
- who's name is Ritchie Thomson has one in Oakville Terrace,
[Keith Watson] This'll be the guy that I know him as, and he knows me as "Belle and Sebastian man".
[Keith Watson] Sorry to have missed the Egg night that was my idea! Oops, I was not well I'm afraid, oh well, never mind, next time, how did it go?
Cheers,
Keith.
Oh... Peter, I've done you a tape, I'll get it in the post as soon as possible.

the internet movie database will let you search for
birthdates. 16th january is given by:
http://us.imdb.com/M/on-this-day?day=16&month=January
and turns up kate moss, john carpenter (and about 50 or so
others). it'll also show you deaths and marriages and films
that opened: the apartment (one of my favourite films)
opened (albeit in sweden) on your birthday in 1961.

Our drunken regular at The Egg -

- who's name is Ritchie Thomson has one in Oakville Terrace,
Edinburgh.
A close friend of my girlfriend and I has a friend called Ken - who lives
near Dean Village, Edinburgh, who has Tigermilk too. Our close friend also
buried his head while Ken raved about B&S, despite being a huge Felt fan
he didn't like the B&S sound at first - and now it's too late!!!.
So Paul, that's another 3 accounted for.

And Stevie has the same birthday as me! How cool...i swear no-one famous
ever was born on 16th Jan before. You know you used to get Smash Hits
yearbooks and all that that told you famous people's birthdays...no-one
was ever born on the same day as me *sob* so now i'm happy!
[Keith Watson]
Aha - and that's where you're wrong, have you seen Ross Harper on Scotland Today? (Not the motorbiking lawyer), I used to sit next to him at school, and his birthday's then too.
There you go - it's your lucky day.
Keith.

Hi! My name is Pat. I'm a SWM, age 18, NS, ND. I'm looking for a special
person. To be that special person, you should have the following
personality traits:
1. You should own a nice clean original copy of _Tigermilk_ by Belle and
Sebastian.
2. You should also own a nice CD burner, and be willing to burn me a copy,
at my expense of course (or maybe we could work out a trade).
Of course, I have a worn out, nth generation dub, but I'm looking for more
clarity, hi-fidelity, and permanence in my life. Please let me know if
you are that special person.
Hope to hear from YOU soon.....

Well a friend of a friend of mine's got one, Neil Humphreys from
Glasgow. He's a friend of Isobels and could ahve got one for free but
went out and bought it anyway to support them...thats all i know.
But Laura Muetzelfeldt's the music editor of our uni paper...i'd never
noticed her having great taste in music but i'll pay more attention now.
And Stevie has the same birthday as me! How cool...i swear no-one famous
ever was born on 16th Jan before. You know you used to get Smash Hits

So what percentage of this list are students then? I am too,
incidentally...
love and stuff

Keith Watson 22/10/97:

MEETING REPORT:
Well, the meet went ahead. Pam Berry and american friend (I forget his
name)
turned up. Unfortunately Keith Watson never turned up, which meant that
anybody else who came along wouldn't have known who to meet!.
I myself only know Keith and Dave Nicoll and wouldn't have recognised
other
listees.
Only by chance I later discovered 2 people there for the meet who said it
was all Keith's fault, they then chatted happily with Pam.
I'm actually worried about Keith - he hasn't mailed for over a week
and with not turning up to an event he organised I can only assume
he's got a bad case of the flu. I hope that's the case and nothing
worse has happened. Get well soon Keith.
The Egg itself wasn't great (and I'm one of the DJs). I wouldn't go
as far as saying it was a rotten(!) Egg, but it was definitely a bit
off (sorry for puns). The 2nd DJs choice of tunes was, to put it mildly,
'uninspired'. I Managed to include 3 B&S songs throughout the evening
- and 'Comin' Through' by The Pastels for Pam.
Presented Pam with LLPJ poster and Egg mug (old promotional tool), which
I think she appreciated. Discussed woeful state of UK radio (The US has
commercial shows which play Soul all day) in relation to some uninspired
soul track which was being played. I pointed out that even hearing Aretha
Franklin or Otis Redding on radio up here in Edinburgh was rare.
Also discussed B&S decision not to re-release Tigermilk and came to the
decision that it's almost criminal. I think I talked too much :(.
A disappointing night (for me!) was capped off by one of our regulars -
a rabid B&S fan - drunkenly accosting Pam and friend with the offer of
a party. Not a bad thing in itself, but given the state he was in,
more like Rab C Nesbitt with expletives whilst strumming 'The State I
am in'.(try to imagine it!). Pam wisely made excuses.
So overall the '1st Informal B&S Meet-up' was a damp squib.
Hope any future meet-ups work out better.
Hanging my head in shame,
Paul <plaird(a)ndirect.co.uk>

A very good friend of mine was Tom Zutaut's (yes, the guy who signed Guns
N' Roses also signed Belle and Sebastian, in case you didn't know)
assistant at the now defunct Enclave. That is actually how I got into
Belle and Sebastian. Anyway, she has heard TIGERMILK because Monsieur
Zutaut has a copy which makes much sense. Of course it would have just
been too good to be true to know someone internal at B&S's American
label... It just HAD to go under, right? :)
Steve Matrick... who thinks I Don't Love Anyone is the most likely Belle
and Sebastian song to be a hit single....
