They had a silly "New Band Night" on the big radio station in San
Francisco, and for whatever reason I decided to write down the names of
the bands they played. Of course, most of the bands had already been
played to death, but the show started with a catchy song called "Like
Dylan in the Movies." So I remembered their name when I saw the used CD
in the record shop and took a chance. The cashier said, "This is an
amazing record." It didn't take long for me to agree, and get everyone I
could to listen. I can't get them out of my head.

BUBBLEGUM PERFUME or the album FOREVER BREATHES THE LONELY WORD, both on
creation...
enjoy!

>ooh...have B&S done stuff with any other bands do you know???
[Keith Watson]
Chris does play with V-Twin, with his brother Kevin - oddly enough, recently in the press Chris claimed to have never heard Tindersticks. Myself, and some friends, including Chris's brother went down to London 3/4 years ago to the NME quiz final, Kevin introduced me to Tindersticks there so you might have thought.
The trumpeter (Mick Cooke) plays guitar in Hardbody with his brother Alasdair, Louise, Toby and Ronan, a kind of Trip hop cum James Bond theme style band. They were signed to Epic until Epic took it upon themselves to drop everyone except Louise. Their album, as it stands, with Mick playing Guitar will be released some time next year... incidentally, they recorded it in New Orleans at the same time as that large ship crashed into a shopping centre. They have two singles out on Epic currently (it's on the Haiku sublabel - same as Finley Quaye)

Don't think V-Twin have actually put anything out yet. I'll find out if I bump into Kevin round the town. V-Twin play reasonably frequently around Glasgow/Edinburgh, I didn't make it to the Cas Rock show last week unfortunately as I was ill and am as a result yet to in fact see them myself. I'll remedy this soon. Friends tell me they rock - like the Faces perhaps.
Cheers,
Keith

- An interesting topic! I´ve been wondering a lot about it. Had mr Murdoch
a catholic upbringing? I mean there is a lot of hints about confession of
sins and so on.
And someone wrote about the book/film, "the loneliness of the longdistance
runner". What is it about?
And all you Felt fans out there, what record do you recommend to start with?
Hard questions I guess.
And please excuse my interest in USA and New York, but has there been a lot
written about B&S over there or how have they become so popular (apart from
making great music)?
Best wishes,
Klas Ericsson

If anybody wants to pay 200 pounds for Tigermilk, I'll be tempted to sell
mine ! :)

er, kate (and anyone else), all you have to do is ask (nicely). i'm happy to
tape tigermilk for anyone who sends me a blank tape (or, better still, a
recorded one) and return postage. there are people on the list that were
previously happy to handle the american side of things too (whether they still
are now that there are 200 people on the list is a different matter, the chance
that i'll get 200 requests for tapes is kinda daunting).
so yeah, email me and i'll send you my address but if i get stupid numbers of
requests i'll have to start refusing...
and, of course, all those people i've already done tapes for, they'll help you
too, i'm sure of it...

Having just got my copy of Tigermilk, and a load of sessions from Mark
Radcliffe and Mark Lamarr, I'll tape anyone who wants a copy too. As Andrew
said, just send me a blank tape, and I'll do it. E-mail me direct to get my
address and stuff.
Ben.

Here's one of me standing in line to be let into the Angel Orresanz foundation building. The reason I look so tired is because I stayed on St. Marks place the night before. I was supposed to stay with my cousin, but when I brought my three friends, it pissed him off, and he kicked me out. Some people are offering me $50 each for my tickets, but I said fuck them. It turned out that I slept during the show, but those seats were so comfortable...

Here's one of me trying to say hello to Chris. It's difficult to make me out because of the 50 screaming girls. I wanted to thank him for the interview he and Stuart did for my fanzine. I never did get to thank him.

I bought The Bathers LP, 'Kelvingrove Baby' about a month ago, and I am
totally in love with it. I would recommend it to everyone.
It was the only thing Virgin had by them, but I'll have to track down there
other albums.
Thank you Charlotte, for the first bit of information I have seen about the
band.
