Alright, yeah, sorry about that one. I wasn't really thinking when I said that Tigermilk should not be re - released. I think I just felt like saying something a bit controversial, especially after having felt a bit pissed off about the Manics / Smiths comment. It was most definitely a heat of the moment thing, which I hope you will all understand when I tell you that I don't, in fact, have even a copy of Tigermilk. Having thought about it, I would love to see Tigermilk on the shelves of Virgin, HMV et al, so that everyone could hear the pleasures of what (as I understand) is a landmark album. I do, however, happen to think that there would be some people, whether a minority or not, who would start whingeing and moaning if it were re - released; not really because of the collectable value of the record, but due to their "I got there first" mentality. Yes, I agree, music is for everyone to share and appreciate, but I seem to encounter, far too often, people who express the above mentality about some band as soon as they get anywhere near famous, like they want to hoard all that band's music for themselves. Quite a childish attitude to take. So, once again, sorry for being so stupid and not thinking about what I was writing. I've learnt my lesson! Chris. P.S. Sinister: 7"!!

I think that the best thing B & S could do is release a series of ultra - collectable limited edition 7" singles on a singles club label. The band could even do the artwork themselves; I mean, they could hand - paint the sleeves, or whatever. Things like this generate huge amounts of publicity, especially if the band is already fairly well - known and has a good fanbase, like B & S. Oh, and Neil, I take offence when you say that all Manics and Smiths fans are filled with rage. Or that if you are filled with rage then you must like the Manics or the Smiths. Or whatever. Basically, a highly ignorant thing to say. Go and listen to some MSP and you'll feel very chilled out. Honest. Tigermilk... should not be re-released. Let it stay collectable. Where is this Smile night in Manchester?? I would literally fall over if I ever heard even one B & S song being played in a night. But then again, I usually do fall over when I go out. Those are the sort of stories that make a list such as this worthwhile! I thought it was the sweetest thing I'd read all day. If and when it's released on CD, I will covet my digitally-enhanced and pure and not-easily-scratched-or-eaten version of "You're Just A Baby" for all eternity. Hi. It's Richard. The best thing I like about New York is the taxis. They're great. And every time you jump into one you put your life in their hands. And none of the drivers speak English, which is great - so you don't have that boring shitty chat that you have with taxi drivers at home. It's magic. And they just drive like utter, utter, utter c***s which is great. The other thing i like is the food. Howard Johnsons's especially. What a place. Tremendous. Cheap as well. And you can drink cocktails while having breakfast which is... pretty much always a bonus. The city smells like shit, obviously. Not very nice at all. Probably better in the summer. But it's always good when you pass a nut stall, cause you always get a free smell, and three seconds later it smells of shit again. Some of the shops are nice, but it seems like every second shop is either an electrical store or diner, and I don't know what else you can do apart from buy watches and cameras and eat. I think the highlight for me is Howard Johnson's. And I'd like to come back here again in a little while cause I've met a lot of nice people. I'm not really into flying here or flying back though. But I suppose it's the only way. If someone could explain to me how planes stay up I'd be most grateful. warning: major cynicism ahead. people of a nervous disposition may want to look away. cover versions. put decent cover versions on the b-sides of records. 'reel around the fountain' would be ideal (twas a real highlight when they played it in glasgow and edinburgh all those months ago). people will buy the record for the cover and fall in love with the original stuff - instant fanbase. and keep doing things the sarah records way. by which i mean not putting lp tracks on singles. it means that everything you buy is all new. it also means that you have to buy all the singles as you know they won't be on the new lp. (think of 'thriller' or something where 80% of the album later turned up as singles - pointless. ok, b&s aren't michael jackson but...). 10" singles are good too (although i've so many that are just so poorly pressed...). 2 part cd singles are bad, especially when filled up with throwaway stuff (tindersticks anyone?). and, well, the thing that hooked me with the sarah stuff was the little personal bits like the a4 posters and the sleevenotes. (b&s are already doing this with the little tales in each release, and decent covers). and just keep the records in the shops. went looking for another copy of '3, 6, 9...' on saturday. easy to find i thought - chart band and all that. except woolworth's use a different chart from everyone else. whsmiths only seemed to stock the top 20 and virgin just had a hole where number 32 should've been. ok, it serves me right for living in such an armpit of a place but... andy >what do you all want on my new site? a spell checker? >i've only just finished it so any >ideas would be apreciated i have all >most of what i could do has allready been done by >Andrew Dean why bother then? ----------------------------------------------------------------------- . So this *adorable* Japanese girl called Yoko is visiting the states, and LOVES pop music....But has NEVER heard Belle & Sebastian....It's hard for us to talk alot, as she speaks very little English.....But she's been ringing me almost everyday....(We keep missing eachother)....We finally hooked up last night, and in my car she says..."Who....um....your phone? Who IS he?" She means Stuart M. singing "Sebastian you're in a mess....." on my answer phone. "He...he...pretty, lovely, voice!" I ask if she's heard Belle and Sebastian, she says "what? who? Belle??" So I pop in '3...6...9...Seconds of light.' And she's all wide eyed and reading the CD over, and over..."I like!!! I like!!! Belle??? Belle???" So I write it down for her and she says "sank you!!! sank you!!!" I was all warm and fuzzy, even tho I sneezed during the whole gig we went to, and Dub Narcotic got caught up in snow....And I promised her a B&S tape, which will be waiting in Japan for when she returns.....Don't know why i'm spewing all this.....Guess you would have had to be there. If anything, it cheered me up since Andy Dean's blocked me from his email and called the American Stalking police. I guess I *can* be pretty frightening.... *sigh*. My bear will now be re-named Yoko.
