I know this doesn't help, but I need to say it. I had 60 posts today that I scrolled through as fast as the button would take me, then just as quickly deleted. If anyone else finds themselves faced with boring junk they can't delete fast enough, don't just delete it. Send a mail (private!) to the sender (only!) saying "Deleted cuz of boredom" and THEN delete it. They'll get the message, whether it was a post about a meet-up happening nowhere NEAR where you are or will ever be, or an answer to a random post about a band you've never heard of and never will, or whatever. Is Honey back yet to second my emotion? PLEASE reply privately on issues that won't interest all of us. PLEASE go to the web site for meet-up concerns. I don't want to lose this list from my life due to a clogging of my computer arteries. I love this and want to keep loving it. Selfish? You betcha. Love, Bee

just wanted to recount a silly story... upon entering a new phase of my life, or in effect, starting college, i befriended a girl named kendra. so we were talking and i mention b&s to her and then i lent her my copy of IYFS for a week. she returned the cd with a note thanking me and which ended by saying "i especially liked the song about the midget" and i thought to myself: ???? and she said it was the third song, etc... so now we have a little joke about the midget. ok, i know it's not that funny, but it's CUTE right? oh well, i should go and throw away my decomposing orange peels kiss! Sinister: mutually beneficial trade

hello all, inbetween getting woozy and tingly thinking about attending the philly and dc shows, i am busy dumping all my precious audio bits onto cd-r... last month saw the wedding present boots and singles compiled, and this past weekend saw the wrapping up of all my magnetic fields shows (four cd's of shows, two of miscellany), and now I am in the thick of getting my belle and sebastian recordings in order. these things are never easy, and i try to plug any holes in the collection.... and possibly get better sounding versions too. anyone want to trade for a few items? it's easier to list what i have, as i don't quite know all the unreleased material. i can clean up bad sounding tapes, and will put whatever you give me onto cd for myself, you, and my friend melissa (thank you for the aislers set, melissa!!), so please don't think i'm a moneymaker, this is pure personal satisfaction from someone who cried upon the first time listening to "if you're feeling sinister", putting them in a special place in my heart where the smiths' "paint a vulgar picture" resides.... sigh. anyway, i have the two lps, the three singles, the jeepster vinyl of sinister (said to be mixed differently, but sounds pretty much the same as the enclave cd....) put onto cd-r. the tigermilk lp, direct transfer from the actual vinyl to cd-r. the following radio session songs on cd-r: just a modern rock song, seeing other people (slow duet one), stars of track & field, judy and the dream of horses, like dylan in the movies, the state i am in, (and isobel's "beautiful everything" from the treehouse thingie). the stuff below i'd love to replace wqith better copies: on tape (crummy copy, hiss, muddy): i could be dreaming, we rule the school... followed by horrible quality dubbed: a ray of sunshine, middle distance runner, pocketbook angel (oh my god this song is amazing), london has let me down. anyone with the stuff mentioned on tape and more, please feel free to email me for trading. the transfer takes me about a week, inbetween school and the 9-5 job, and i am totally open to trading all sorts of stuff. i have complete discographys of: the cure, kate bush, magnetic fields (and side projects), wedding present, pixies, smiths, mozzer, cranes, cocteau twins, etc... you get the idea. thank you, jason.

Sinister: caffeinated whackiness

Just thinking a bit about that 4AD cd that came with UNCUT. Would any kind UK humans be willing to pick me up a copy in exchange for some hard-to-get US release of something or other? I'm in the heart of used-cd land, so I'd be more than willing to make a trade. I was playing around on my keyboard the other day, trying to figure out how to make it sound like a Fender Rhodes (inspired by "Sleep the Clock Around", I was), and although I wasn't succesful, managed to create a sound that was eerily similar to that wierd, muted baby-piano sound that shows up in just about every Pram song. Do any knowledgeable people out there happen to know what instrument that really came from? (Tangential note: The best description I ever heard of Pram is that it sounds like Mary Poppins on acid. I know Pram isn't terribly B&s related. Just thought I'd point that out). As this is now the official Belle & Sebastian & Cheese list, I'll throw in some thislisty content. My vote is for a really nice, old six-year-or-so aged Italian Parmesan, the kind with little crunchy bits embedded in it that just tastes oh so good with a nice glass of wine or four. Most of you are sleeping by now, and I haven't even left work. Oh, the inhumanity of GMT. -mrjake What the hell was Faust doing in '73? Hello happy revellers, For once NME made me laugh today. The little bit in thrills entitled "Carnage Fuckers" about riots at B&S shows. Also the Technics advert which said "Something colossal this way comes. The rock Godzilla of all beats. Spewing out the phantom loops of the 14th Century Sunday Social. A burning beast of mediaeval madness. Two minds melted into one. Welcome to the Chemical Brothers wall of sound. It lives and breathes but who will tame it?" It's powerful stuff and I was so impressed that I've bought a dozen. Can anyone shed any light on the strange rumour that the old Captain Bird's Eye was sacked and replaced with the new "hunky" version, because it came to light that the old Cap'n was, in fact, a woman. Seeing as how my own father was cast as the good Captain in an office looky-likey competition, I have a vested interest in knowing the truth.
