Hey there, well heres another post by me which has nothing really much to say. did someone mention something about B&S + the Carpenters a while back? maybe they did, maybe they didnt, but i just looove the Carpenters! i remember when i was a little 'un i was just in love with Karens voice, i thought it was the most feminine voice id ever heard, but then again i was probably only nine at the time or someting. i kept on playing one of their songs, i cant remember which one it was, the chorus went something like 'cant i adore you, although we are oceans apart, na na na na na na na na ( i forget), but i can dream, cant i?' ive got their greatest hits or best of CD, and it helps to comfort me whenever im feeling a bit down.all those slow sad lurrrve ballads, you just cant beat 'em... Crushes, YES, thats what i thrive on, they're perfect for me as then i dont actually have to go and take a chance on them, which frightens me to death. i had a major crush on someone at uni last year, it was pretty sad really and it led to me doing rather silly things, but we're all fools for love, arent we? well, i know i am... i had a little crush just forming rather recently with one girl but now terms ended so i wont see her for three months and i have to fill the void now here at home by finding a job for the summer. Ooops, i ALWAYS leave things like this till the last minute, i couldnt find anything yesterday, i really really REAALLY need to find a job. else i'll be stuck at home all day. and with no money. ..and an overdraft... oh, and ive decided that Century of Fakers is my new favourite B&S song, i watched the video for it when it was on MTV, and it really does complement the song so well.. Hello list! I am quite happy I deleted by accident one hundred and sixty messages piled up a week on rigorous no-checking my email box.Because I would have felt too guilty to perpetrate such a criminal action deliberately, but probably I would have never had time to catch up with all your gossip,confessions,reviews and suggetions in years. Given my life is in the most absolute chaos at the moment,specially.After a work-trip into Umbria to discuss how to parallelize quantum chemistry programs (grand, really grand. It is always better to talk about work in an Medieval environment), I have to move houses, offices, get lots of work done, attend a few social events I cannot miss and try to get ready for the eclipse. During my neverending journey back to Nottingham, I read and reread every little bit of Select, not missing any line devoted to analyse why Tigermilk is great.And I was happy they rated 'My wandering days are over' as highly as I do.But I was not so careful about the tiny wee interview and skipped our Elish's reference. I will do my homework tonite, promise. All the crushing with unknown people thread is very good . If there is a chance of a close up of the person admired from distance, that is a dissappointment and a mistake.Mystery is exactly the essence of such a feeling.But why do we (human beings in general) enjoy and appreciate mystery as one of the force fields of nature and the already known things are never the same? Sinister: crushes and brighton beer

hi there, sinisteroonies, right, the wonderful booze explosion from dublin started a review of the brighton "picnic" with a list of things that did not happen, so i thought i might continue it... we did not get almost chucked out of a pub for singing 'if you're feeling sinister' far too loud when every one else was watching some arty film on the telly, i was not the drunkest person there, and i did not lie in the middle of the road for half an hour while siany got me water from another pub to stop me from throwing up the ten pints i'd had. by the time paula and her lovely boyfriend arrived richard, sian and i had not had about five pints each and were not staggering around on the beach looking like winos. and i was not too drunk to be able to make it to the train station, thus having to crash at siany's place (much to the disgust of her parents i'm sure, even though she says they liked me). but a good time was had by all, even if between five of us we managed to ingest more alcohol in five or six hours than was consumed over two days by about twenty people at the london picnic (which was wonderful too). we should do another brighton one someday, only not with so much drink this time... i'm not up for another two day hangover... crushes are great. while i was in prague and bowlie was going on, i was waiting at the tramstop and i noticed a beautiful girl. so i started dreaming. then the next day, with bowlie over, she was at the tram stop again and was wearing A LOOPER BADGE!!! so i started talking to one of my friends in an uncharacteristically loud voice about how disappointed i was to have missed belle and sebastian and how they were the best band in the world... you know the drill. and this beautiful girl came up, asked if b&s were playing in prague (to which i replied 'i wish i wish i wish', but i didn't say what i was wishing) and we got on the tram together. and we talked about stuart's heavenly voice, and isobel's looks (which we both agreed were undeniably cute - one of the main reasons i went out with my swedish ex was because she looked like isobel) and i was in such a state of shock that one of the prettiest girls in prague liked b&s that i didn't ask for her number when i got of the tram, only saying 'see you around then,' and hoping to see her at the tramstop the same time the next day. but i didn't, and i went back to the tramstop (sprinting out of school to get there on time) every day for the next two months, and never talked to her again, even though i thought i saw her once in the tram that was just leaving on the only day that i waited for my friends before rushing to the tramstop. argh!!! and so that one stayed a crush. i think it can be cool when a crush becomes reality, but not if you find out that the girl/ boy is into the vengaboys and ocean colour scene, thinks that athletics is a good way to pass the time or thinks that any of the arty things that move you (a chagall painting, a bob dylan bootleg, a poem by don paterson) are 'wank' when you show them to them. but when they like them too things suddenly become brighter, like if you were on the beach in cyprus and a beauiful girl kissed you... anyhow, i've probably bored you all. is anyone apart from natasha and me going to 'track and field' this friday night? i'll be wearing my stow t-shirt, and i don't know what she'll be wearing, but it'll probably include at least one upside down badge. if we don't see you there, then hope to see you on monday at trash. i'm going to go and dream about the signed copy of dj shadow's 'endtroducing' that's being held until the weekend for me, and listen to my bowlie tape (which doesn't cut off in the middle of lazy line painter jane - anyone who wants a copy and has something pretty to swap me e-mail me privately). anyway, i've gone on too long (sorry list mummy) and i'll love you and leave you with a stanza by don paterson which needs holding to your breast and treasuring. love Marcus XXX 'and no trade was ever so fair or so tender so where was the flaw in the plan the night we lay down on the flag of surrender and woke on the flag of japan' from 'imperial' by don paterson ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the reborn Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail "sinister(a)majordomo.net". Just a quick question: did The Gentle Waves reached any position on the official UK charts ? (I mean both independent and the whole opn es). IŽm sure that "Tigermilk" will reach better than "TWATTYBUS". And a note for Ailsa Ross: itŽs not that I don Žt trust you (even though iŽve been waiting for months for your whole Bowlie gig), itŽs just that a guy from the spanish radio told me to make him a copy of the BBC gig (note for broadcast it). Sinister: sf looper show

just back from the sf looper show... they pretty much played what you'd expect (the album). the sound was pretty nice considering that rumors were flying that it might be bad, since the beulah show last night was hampered by bad sound (hearsay, but supported by several). overall a pleasant eve once Looper hit stage. IQU (k records) had an interesting set with a little more bite featuring one fellow on standup bass with a lot of energy... a couple of their songs had some minor tempo problems, but overall i think folks (who seemed there for looper) were pleased with a lot of their texture and catchy loops. one fellow next to me remarked tho, 'there's only so much theramin you can take in one night', and you know, despite being a theramin fan, i kinda agreed with him. First time I've seen Looper live and they did justice to their overall sound. Plus I enjoyed the accompanying video and the overall mood created. For those of you who don't know the 'great american music hall' in san francisco, its slightly antiquated, quaint, ornate interior complemented Looper's stylings well. out of the nursery, into your mailbox. in January 98 a friend gave me a copy of siniser and i fell in love with b&s.
