autumn brings a restlessness i cannot shake...so i've taken to consuming a double vodka tonic every night before i retire...still it does me no good and by 5am my frustration peaks. i put on b&s. sing a couple songs to myself,smoke a smokester or two, tell myself to do something productive. go walk around town or sit in the bus stop and watch the drunks stumble out of thirsty thrusday night into the headaches of friday morning...but do not move...stuck to the bed as if it were fly paper... *brier commented on how lucky i am to be a lisa b/c at least i have songs about me. at least i have demands to live up to...so i've composed him a little ditty...: how sad it is that brier fell in love with a liar. now his heart lyes all in shambles. and it is not a shame that he will never love again. he just sits and drinks and gambles. this is an easy one. i know you won't let us down. you seem like a spunky chap...* oh how i miss london. all these tales of gayiety leave me mournfully nosalgiac...had a brief stay there this past summer...caught chris geddes spinning at Upstairs at the Garage one evening...grinned and danced with many...had my hand kissed by some boy who told be i was the most beautiful girl there...so tucked and intimate...lala...i have been a rather laquacious little bitch...must tear myself from this terminal (such a cold word...cold words for a cold girl i suppose) -lisa ************* "...death is my cupcake, darling...." _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Sinister: foscarlando

i have never heard orlando but the new fosca lp is rather nice, a bit like baxendale(gasp everyone here despises baxendale! sorry to fosca then) i think only a smidge older a trifle melancholier. i always seem to join tape swaps out of habit and then stress over the construction of the tapes and then after mailing them i go and get a record and think gosh if only i had had this record before making that mic tape the mix tape might have been perfect. this time it is the demarnia lloyd ep, gosh she is wonderful. magical how a cd basically made up of her voice and a bunch of fog and tinkling can make me smile for nearly forever. apparently she has a new cloudboy record done too! and if i were german i would be able to see them live as they are going to tour germany(of all places) to celebrate the new record. i remember the good old days when brilliant records from new zealand were a weekly occurence and now it is more like bi-decadal(is that a word?). future bible heroes are the weakest of the merrit affiliated bands, true, well i have heard gothic archies so i don't know what i am talking about but i don't like the deification of mr merrit i was very uncomfortable watching him in san francisco a his minions paid homage in almost reverential silence and stpehin with an i lapped it up. i sat on the side and rubbed my feet on the carpet and then i heard someone say she say amy linton and stuart murdoch thrift shopping, maybe they were working out a trade stevie for wyatt. amy's second favorite perfect pop song is velocity girl, lovely. keith demarnia lloyd should get all of the songs on the next sixths record. yes. more daniel handler. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? So we're down in Chelsea on the first night of the NYC excursion, outside a Subway somewhere. There were a few street folks hanging round the corner, seemed to be gathering bottles and cans for the refund money. They weren't intimidating, just a bit loud. My travelling companions were putting yet another issue before the committee and I was just checking out the scene. I saw this really attractive blonde woman walking across the street towards the corner I was on. One of the street guys turned around and flicked his cigarette fairly hard and it smacked right off the face of the blonde woman. My lasting image of New York, a shower of sparks around the terrified face of a beautiful woman. Then there was a bizarre B&S related incident in Rebel Rebel records. We were inside for a while, and had bought some stuff. Outside, La Renard asks me 'gonny gonny please gonny gonny ask the guy for that B&S poster' so unwilling / unable to tolerate such haranguing I go back in and say to the bloke 'Here mate, that poster in the window, can I have it?' and he says 'No, its an album laid out flat'. Upon closer inspection, it turns out to be a display card. Undeterred, I head back in, lift said card and say 'Listen mate, this is a card, can I have it or what'. Record shop bloke gets all huffy and defensive, says 'Hey I don't think I like your attitude', and takes the card off me, visibly miffed. I go 'I'll give you two bucks for it', and he says 'You come in here giving out attitude, I don't like it' and I say 'Ah'm from Glasgow mate, it goes with the territory' and he says, get this 'Well, you're in New York now, we got more, that's why I won'. He really said that, THAT'S WHY I WON! Not many of us like NYC either...or at least the people, the record shops yes.... try Boston. It's the US city that's most like a european city (Edinburgh) at least in atmosphere.. Unis run the city, lots of shops and food choices. There are jerks here but when last i was in Edinburgh,(march/april) I got accosted by rugby roughs. Granted they were pissed, visiting from the south (and england lost) but it was still annoying. a highlight of that trip was Mogwai w/ And you will know us by the trail of dead... in Edinburgh at the liquid room (i *think* that's the name...) any one on this here fine list attend that show? I think it was around April 3-4-5. of this year...... BS content. I was peddaling my little (smoking congested) heart out on the way home from work the other day riding up a particularly trying hill when I heard "chickfactor" blaring from a car along my righthand side. Sinister: Sausage on a stick

Hello I've been dancing like a soul boy now for some weeks, stopping only for a change of shoes, a cup of tea, and a poo. It looks like the next stop on Robin's big dance marathon will be the Garage in Cineramasville on Friday, so work notwithstanding, I'll should see some of you there. Oh dear, I don't think I really know what "notwithstanding" means, so that last sentence was probably nonsense, like a sock on a clock. When I was little, about seven perhaps, Mrs Counsel's class, my favourite word for no reason other than the sound was "probably". People used to try to influence me with nice words like "dog", for instance, or "tractor", but I stood firm. My favourite bird was the oystercatcher. It's raining again, and the season makes me play Scott Walker records. I'm a bit of an agnostic when it comes to rain. Stuart writes about the changing of the seasons and I welcome that, but I can never work out if rain is a friend or foe. I think when the drops are big, and they splosh then it's lovely. Found out the other day that my friend has seven Belle and Sebastian t-shirts. He told me in a hushed voice. It was a bit of a shock, to be honest. I don't think I've even got seven t-shirts, or pairs of pants for that matter. Sinister: the pains of lisa-ism...

hark! i have been itching to post like a ten yr old come down with the chicken pox since two tuesdays ago when i discovered this intimate corner of the world...i adore corners. i fit into their tiny spaces rather well if i do say so myself... i am lisa. curse the name..its not so easy to live up to...the standards have been set. i now have a reputation to uphold: lisa has to "kiss men like a long walk home"; lisa has to be "beatiful/only slightly mental/beautiful/only tempermental"; lisa has to be "always looking for a fight" and "keep(ing) the neighbors up all night". and i dare not purchase the new album for fear of more demands...my hands are full enough as is...i've tried desperatly to keep up my side of the bargin. as for "kissing men like a long walk home"-that's the simple part. however recently there has been a terrible shortage in desirable men in pennsylvania (namely Ktown U)...(pish) whatever can a girl do? i suppose it's all for the better...kisses began to go beyond the long walk home...they continued (to my delight) up 4 flights of stairs, fumbling in my purse for keys, the door is thrown open, stumbling in half disabled by passion, and the rest is best when left to the imagination...achieving the "beautiful/only slightly mental/beautiful/only tempermental" peice of the puzzle required a bit more effort...none the less its been done...i have my neurotic tendencies to fall back on. i'm the pretty one shoved in some corner, back against the wall with a distant gaze that falls somewhere between the cracks in the ceilng and floor...as for "always looking for a fight"...that is the key to it all. what better to pacify boredom than drama?...the spice of life... count on capricious little me to have developed a list crush in such a short time...now i must cook up a scheme to get his attention...but we all know i will just go home and theorize about it until i have convinced myself that the job has already been done. curse such an extreme pacifism. kudos to whoever mentioned lenore...she resides in her little corner on my upper thigh...and to the boy who noted joan of arcs mention of breast feeding...i adore subtle obscurities... -lisa _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. I am reminded of this as i take my vespa down Garden Street, and all around me from the sky comes falling yellow confetti, like some out-of-place parade, leaves falling like a wierd victory celebration for me. The war is over, although i know my side lost. So why do i feel that a victory parade is in order?
