Chris's teacher said: Apparently some grown men have had to walk around with nappies due to damage caused to their arse muscles. I thought it was illegal to promote homosexuality. Do you have any idea what kind of price these men command down on the so-called meat rack? Just ask all our London listees, espeicially the ones who moved there from somewhere else, drawn by the tales of nappy-wearing men with arse muscle damage. Yesterday I tried to visit Bob the Builder's website to see if he was promoting homosexuality or fisting, but I couldn't get past the first page. I was hoping for a bit of claymation arse cleavage. Mr Rusty's always keen to check out the competition. It was his fault I made that reference to "upstairs" the other day. Mr Rusty told me that no one pulls birds with big jugs by beating about the bush, you have to grab the bull by the horns. And like a damned fool, I believed him. I can only apologise and promise never to refer to massive tits again. Thanks to Ailsa for explaining the Stagecoach affair. I must admit I preferred it when I thought it was just a random bus-related rant from the on-form and off-trolley Murdoch. I'm lying, of course. It's rather natty really. No, that's just another in a long line of lyrics I've misheard. Anyway...... Mornin'! And it bloody well is as well. Notice I left the 'Good' out. That'll be something to do with the beer I got through last night. Dear Points of View, why oh why oh why are all pub quizzes midweek? Nevermind. So StuD has gone, then?? Startlingly quick on the uptake, me. This sends various worries fleeting across what nominally passes for my brain, you know. The main one being a feeling that this could be the beginning of the end, although it's made a lot less likely because he didn't leave after any sort of falling-out. Which is good, at least. I, for one, though, am a bit disappointed that there will be no more songs like A Century of Elvis and A Space Boy Dream. Pillory me all you want, but I like 'em. Probably comes from listening to too much Mogwai, Prolapse, Arab Strap, and various other bands who occasionally like to witter on a bit over a nice tune. Nothing wrong with it, if you ask me. It will, as Fiona said, be quite interesting to hear their fist batch of stuff written and performed without him. At least it will show us whether Belle and Sebastian is just Stuart Murdoch, or a sum of collective parts. I'd prefer to think of them as the latter, I guess - although I realise that the focal point and defining character of any band is their singer (especially if he/she writes most of the songs), but it would be nice to think that the other members provide their fair share. On the other hand, of course, it wouldn't, since that would mean that B&S are now a little worse than they were. Oh, I don't know. You decide. And then mail me with the conclusion you come to, cause I'm buggered if I can reach one. Other business: We got a post from Archel! Smashin' super grate. 1) Did you all read the bit at the end of my mail ? the bit that said it wasn't meant to offend anyone? I was just 'trying' to put forward the other side of the story, as it seems that so often only one viewpoint is put forward in the media. 2) Why do people assume that I am simply repeating stuff, as with the alphabet? Don't be so fucking anal. I DO have a mind of my own. I when I was a bit younger, I went throught all kinds of shit, and was beaten up daily, stuck in hospital ect.. Why? I have no fucking clue. They just did it to me. But I do know that I feel some kind of empathy with people who are gay, in as much as I know what it is like to be picked on unfairly, and suffer for somehow being different. I was lonely, and I spent a lot of time tghinking about my religion and life, and got to the root of what I believe., and how a lot of catholics do just repeat what they are told. My parents never forced views on me. I am NOT BIGOTED. You don't know how much some of the stuff people have said hurts me. some of the stuff people on the list have said. Hell, I even get called gay at school, just 'cause I don't fight, and 'cause I don't have a girlfriend. And people saying that i should do some research? fuck you. I know what goes on. I go to a catholic (but unofficially mixed religion and race) school in the southside of glasgow, in a working class area, and I have more experience in what those people say than you. And you say my arguments are shit? Well fine, if that's what you think, but holes can be picked in any argument, and It was one opf those mails where you just right what comes into your head there and then, and don';t think about how people will insult you for doing so. I could answer all of your jibes,and counter arguments, and I' will do so if you mail me privately. But If I don that, then you'll hust do it back, and It'll go on forever, because we all (I hope) have a strong belief in what we think. BUt just as I don't agree with what you believe, I respect your right to have an opinion (as long as it has justification). And that is one thing that I think is intrinsic in a christian way of life (not just being a christian, but living life that way) - respecting others opinions and beiliefs, and recognising that they are no less a person for disagreeing with you. I think that some people on this list have an attitude along the lines of "I know I'm right, so if you disagree then fuck you." and that is not a good attitude to have. I also tghink that it is cowardly of these people to pick on me publically just 'cause I don't agree with them. They should accept that I believe what I believe, and leave me alone. oh, and my teacher 'knows so much' about lesbian sex because a gay rights group mailed an eduational/information booklet to our school. so blame them. I actually think that it should be up to the parent whether or not their child should have sex education. And I don't think that a one parent family is any less of a family unit. and in the case of a gay male couple having a child, when the sperm from one of them is used, it is their child.,but not the other's. that could cause problems. And the whole thing about the paoedphile priests - just cause they are evil, doesn't mean that you can tag the entire church with the same stick. and besides (you'll all think this is soooo cliched) the church is the people who attend it and have their faith. the priests are messngers of this faith. the church is what the people make it. My thoughts are getting mixed up now. Becauser I have so much to say, and not enough time. biology test becons. I thought after the barrage of shit I recieved, I should leave the list. but hell. why should I? because some peole are narked at the fact that I don't share thier beliefs? no. I myself hate short posts. They are annoying to read. But I'll make an exeption here, and write one myself. My view on the gaythingy: CHILL THE FUCK OUT YOU FREAKS! Zeesus, you guys give me a headache! "NAHA! Baby Chris said something baaad, I don't agree with him, did you hear did you hear what he said? Well I'll bash his head in here on the Sinister-list! Serves him right!" Well buhuu to you. Even though I might not agree with BCCrystalballs, I'm not slaughtering him HERE. Can't you send him some personal mail instead? Sinister: Christian's and Gays....now where did those lions go?

Happy Valentine's.....sorry I am a day late but something came up yesterday. What follows is a really long diatribe upon the subject of Christianity and Homosexuality. I doubt if you will find anything offensive in it, but you may find it exceptionally boring. I had really hoped that this subject would go by without me feeling the need to comment, but ah hell, maybe I can do some good. I guess I should qualify myself first though. I speak entirely without authority and this is my opinion. Feel free to accept or refuse it, but I do not wish to argue it. I really want to go back to writing dirty stories involving stuffed bears and other stuff that doesn't make sense. A little bio so you know what direction I am coming from, I should also note that I share the name of the Pope who was there when Columbus arrived in the New World. He was also the only Pope to balance the Vatican's books and was involved in sexual scandal his entire wife. I do not think I will ever best him because is claimed to have had relations with 3 generations of women. I guess that makes me only prince of the cheap internet sluts.....my crowns keep falling away. I am a heterosexual Roman Catholic that was raised in Montreal and attended both Catholic and Public schools until one day I decided to stop going at around grade 10. I took one university credit course and that was called "Man's Religions" at the University of Western Ontario, King's College. (I passed) I was tested by the Governement of Canada for educational equivalency and as far as they are concerned I am a university graduate . They also consider me as meeting a journalism degree. Although my education cost me only 500 dollars and a text book, I have been reading since I can remember and considerable amounts of history and religion. My particular interest has always been about pre-Roman Celts in north western France which is where my blood comes from, however, for the last two years I have been devoting all my reading to the Second World War and the Canadian involvement. (Normandy was my family going home after 300 years) I am deeply religious in the forms of Roman Catholicism as has my family been before me. My mother is Anglican, but I was raised Catholic. At one time I seriously considered becoming a priest, but I did not feel it was my calling. My ex-wife (The Major's mom) is also RC and she had a brother become a fanatical monk. For those in Ontario and Michigan, these were the 3rd Order Franciscans kicked out of Lucan by the Bishop of London and ended up in Michigan. My ex-brother-in-law was kicked out of these robe and sandal wearing, cabbage eating, midget owning, underwear sharing, freaks because even he was to nuts for them. I only bring this up because I was brought up around priests who would tell a pregnant couple to live together before marrying because of their individual circumstances and my ex was brought up by the extreme Polish version. I live in a community that is very Italian and Polish, so I have been exposed to quite a bit of Catholism in my life. I have been studying the similarities between Christianity and Celtic religion as my primary interest. This has made me look at the influences of Celtism upon Christianity. It would be impossible to do this without looking at all the other religions at that time. Honey says Leviticus....18:22 to be exact. Nice book, at the time it was written it was a fantastic book because it was perfectly necessary. What we see is a written record of an oral tradition that was a few thousand years old. So that must be kept in mind. Creationism versus Evolution. Guess what, both are right. The question is more about whether you believe in God, in any form, or not. The book of Genesis did happen exactly as described. Here is the explaination. God created heaven and earth. Big Bang. The earth was without form and void. It did not start out wrong. Darkness was on the face....at first the atmosphere did not allow light onto the surface of the earth. Night and day? who can say when the earth started rotating? The moon doesn't so it is possible that an asteroid strike started us turning. Firmament and waters did actually come next. because that was the forming of the atmosphere, then came the oceans and continent called Pangea (Bill Nye the Science Guy....Bill! Bill!) Vegetation did come next. Animals came next, then came humans. And now we are on the seventh day. There is no use in arguing the semantics because basically it is accurate and since what we are reading is based upon and an oral tradition that was written a few thousand years ago, I think we should be fucking amazed at how much they got it right. Remember, this comes from desert nomads who had decided to take up shop in Israel. Archaeology has pretty much proven considerable amounts of the Old Testament as having occured. If we can't get an accurate and unbiased account of history from 100 years ago, what makes you think that people who were really bright, just good at surving, would be able to get this done better. They explained the things the best that they can and you have to accept that. We are talking about people who had the brains of ten-year olds today. Leviticus essentially is the framework of the religion at the time. It brought out all the same things that we do now with our laws and it was basically the rules that were necessary for the survival of the time. We have been living in societies for 10,000 years and we haven't figured out how to do it peacefully, so again why expect them to. The dietary laws were just as sensible as our own which tell us to avoid giving ourselves botchelism and salmonella. Their superstitions were no less silly than ours tossing salt over our shoulder. When you are a tribe of people wandering across a desert your life expectnecy is not very long. Procreation is essential to the tribe's survival. Think of it this way: You are in Egypt. You live in tents, there is no water to wash, you have no toilet paper, you have no razor, you have a foreskin, you have no tampons nor pads. This is not exactly the easiest environment for creating life. The Judaic sex laws grew from observation and not too much knowledge beyond the most basic on the concepts of life. People engaged in anal sex risked considerable infection and all kinds of complications. Oral sex? Get real. After settlement in Israel when there was water and life was much cleaner, things changed in a sense because they were exposed to other cultures. Although living in cities now, the laws stayed the same. Much of it based upon old taboos. So if a Christian is going to look at the law of Leviticus, first of all, look at the Commandments. More important was it to live peacefully in society than anything else. The rest of the laws are supplemental and are guides for living at that time. If a Christian invokes on law then they must invoke them all. That includes dietary law and worship. When Christ came around, the world was a very different place from at the time of the camp-out. The Jews were writing the Talmud and got so hung up on the most minute detail, writing reams and reams of scrolls, that the message of Christ was that they were missing the Spirit of the Law. Christ was outpsoken on quite a few things and in particular relationships. He pretty much talked about tolerance and love. Oddly, he says nothing about homosexuality. I guess it wasn't a big enough deal to him. The Greeks were not unknown for that kind of stuff and Christ spoke Greek so. Much of Roman Catholicism comes from the Pauline writings, though. Well, Saint Paul never actually met Christ beyond the apparition on the road to convert him. In fact, Saint Paul was on his way to "hit" Jesus. Saint Paul had a hate on for women after his wife ditched him for a Roman stud. So much of the RC position on relationships comes from a bunch of misinterpeted rantings of a frustrated guy. But then, half the books attributed to the tent maker weren't written by the same author. The best place to look for guidance on the subject is the Gospel of Saint John. That is pretty much the only Gospel that is written by the person who actually witnessed the events as they took place. There is a strong possibility that this was written by Lazarus, which would make sense. The impression given when reading this story is that homosexuality probably existed but nobody was overly concerned about it. However you do not seem to get a glimpse of how it was factored into the society. Depending on the period in time, the Romans more or less tolerated it and it didn't really matter. One of the things that Christ brought to the Jews, was basically the direct line to God. The Jews at the time were in mortal fear of God and there was no dialogue, just ritual. Christ brought love and dialogue to Judaism and that pretty much formed the basis of Christianity. A few Churches emerged in the and they all assumed some influences from local religions. The essentially emrged as the Roman Catholic Church, the Greek Orthodox and Church of England. All have differences in interpretation, but we won't get into that. From these sprang our current day Revelationists who are desperately awaiting the final days. If they were to read what Christ said on the subject they would see that they should get on with their lives as per intructions. Unfortunately they are control freaks with very closed minds and very large inflammatory mouths which the media loves to broadcast. The Roman Catholic Church has been all over the place and it all comes down to a one guy who had lead a life of debauchery coming out and saying sex was bad. Things were back and forth ever since, but that shadow doesn't help. Priests cannot marry because their possessions would go to their wives and family upon their death instead of the Church. A thousand years ago the clergy was a very lucrative business. What Christ taught us when he sought to make changes was that our relationship with God must be on the terms that we set with God as individuals. The commandments will never change, but the other laws must be fluid to meet the needs of our evolving society, the idea is the spirit, not the mechanical. Just as eating pork will not be a serious threat to us, neither now will anal sex, providing the proper care is taken. Homosexuals must make their own terms with God and work things out for themselves. Whether a person is born gay, or becomes gay is incidental because they are gay and that will not change. God made the animal kingdom have gays, considerably more than people think. Thus the discussion as to the naturalness of it is moot. Sex was the gift that God gave to humans, intelligence was the curse. But Jesus preached love and one message me made abundantly clear: worry about your behaviour in the eyes of God and keep your nose out of other peoples. Every Christian has a personal relationship with God, who is anyone else to go meddling in that? Delivering the message is not the same as meddling. This is where the confusion happens because most people don't look at the whole thing. Look for the answers with an open mind and you will find the Truth. If you look for the answers without knowing the questions, or having already decided then it will escape you. If you have read this far you amaze me. evenin' hipkatz once again refraining from posting to you krazee kidz has brought me good luck in the real world. if you're sitting comfortably, i shall explain; i was all set to launch a tirade against valentine's day,it being a corporate sham, hugely depressing etc etc. when lo!! i received two real life cards, admittedly one was from my flatmate who sent a card to all the girls in the flat, and the other was from a bloke i'm trying to tactfully get rid of, but still - it was heartening. and as if to make my life more exciting someone has emailed me one and and and, i don't know who its from. now, i suspect that it might be from one of you little darlings because this is one of the few places i use this email address. see the detective work!!! if it is one of you guys, please own up, or i'll start accusing you at random and that could prove embarassing for people who are already attached. the cunning fucker (what an image!) used a web based account and then deleted it so i couldn't trace him (or her). as for the rest of the world, my take on the stuee dee thang, is that we can't rilly comment until b+s emerge without him. i never really liked looper, except impossible things #2 anyway and somehow i always find myself skipping past a spaceboy dream. as for his presence, the rest of them will just have to start to smoking crack. section 28 - as hopefully should go without saying, i'm in general agreement with generally everyone, but having just read loads of posts on the subject, it seems that the whole thing has become somewhat of a tirade against babychris. give the poor boy a chance. without patronising (hopefully) he hasn't had much time to break away from his catholic teaching and learn about that sort of thing for himself, so i really don't think personal attacks are appropriate. and stagecoach charge twice as much to get to uni from my house as all the other companies - greedy fuckers - so i wouldn't use their pish poor bus service anyway. think i've covered everything there, except to wonder why, at 1:30 this morning did i suddenly realise that i wanted to get back together with my ex-boyfriend (ex for nearly a year)? i think it could be because we've remained friends, and i don't like his current girlfriend. she keeps pretending to like me, despite the fact that we're clearly uncomfortable in each other's presence and she keeps running to him telling tales of how i've been weird to her. maybe i am just weird with people. *sigh* no, i'm not going off on the depression thing, i'm just feeling sorry for myself for no good reason. business as usual then. oh, and i did have a good birthday, thanks to everyone who sent their wishes. stay beautiful, love and jaffa cakes, fiona "if we turn turn turn turn turn turn, we might learn learn learn learn" +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the undead Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail sinister(a)missprint.org. Right. Here, for what its worth is my view on the whole gay disscussion. Now, this probably isn't terribly well thought through, and the execution will doubtless leave something to be desired, but thats just my way, and you'll just have to put up with it. In short i'm in general agreement with Alisa et al, so i'll spare you all my going over that ground again - it would only bore you all, and certainly, it would irritate me. However, the history of the catholic church, as with the history of all supposed *moral* authorities [and in this, i include any religion you care to name, and quite possibly the entire human race], contain hypocracy in large measure. This should really go without saying, and i for one am not, and would not claim to be immune. As the Sikhs have it, no one can claim a monopoly on truth, and frankly, what people get up to between themselves is no real business of mine, and as such i feel i have no right to prescribe, still less to condemn the actions of others if no *harm* is caused by these actions. To base any such condemnation upon the Bible is still less acceptable, given that on the basis of that document, 'God'* is at best indecisive, and at worst, well, see the history of the Crusades... *'God', in the context of this document is a strange presence, given that the worlds major religions offer so much overlap i.e. Juruselem, the River Ganges etc, so what its absolute view on homosexuality may or may not be is essentially anyones guess, to which i believe an answer is unlikely to be forthcoming, so you may as well accept both the existence and practice of it, while condemning such abuse as occurs. My point i suppose is this; what the hell gives US the right to judge? Yes, bigotry is a pain, but intolerance should not be met with intolerance. Please remember this while writing me off as a tired, hand-wringing, wet liberal. Thankyou and goodnight, delete at will. (not that i regret my past, but if i had my choice as a child, or for a child, i think any positive modeling of love is better than an alcoholic hotbed of misery, perversion and denigration) (which CAN happen in a man/woman household!! ask ANYONE that i have ever met!!) Using this theory, are we gonna say that all the kids raised by only their mom or only their dad have turned out sick useless members of society? I like boy done wrong again. i didn't at first, but hearing it live changed my mind a bit more. i think stuart seems to feel it very intensely, the way he sings it. and the more i hear it, the more sense it makes to me, to my own life. i relate to it, i feel the same way, and i appreciate that song more and more for its simplicity and understated melody. and junglist breakbeat philosophy, brand new yr retro, all of that ****.
