i know it's lame, but i had a sinister dream last night, and i just remembered it, so i have to share. i was in scotland for some unknown reason with a friend of mine, and discovered that you could take a train to some station somewhere (mind you, i've never been to scotland before and am pretty oblivious to the geography) and if you filled out a form on a computer, honey would greet you at the station and show you a good time. (not like that, get your minds out of the gutter, people). anyway, the computer was on this podium-like thing, and it was the sinister computer. and you gave it your name, your time of departure, whether you wanted honey to meet you at the station or somewhere else, how much money you planned on spending, how long you were going to be visiting and all that stuff. so my friend and i show up at the station (no memory of any actual train rides, though), and there's honey looking like some kind of moustached-long-haired police officer with a little badge declaring who he is. then later his hair went short and the moustache went away. then my friend steve woke me up to get his camera back. so that's where the dream ends. still, it was amusing to say the least. now i just have this wonderful image of computers at train stations all over scotland connected by a vast network to honey's home, letting him know when sinisterines are coming for a visit. hehe. um, and since i just woke up none of that made any sense, i'm sure. sorry. -kerry "you'd better not be angry, you'd better not be sad. you'd better just enjoy the luxury of sympathy, if that's a luxury you have." -built to spill, "velvet waltz" +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the undead Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail sinister(a)missprint.org. Sinister: all the lonely people

wow! what a powerful inbox of e-mails i just read from you folk. my 2 cents on the whole thing: why do so many people view what other people do in bed (or various other generally private locations) as such a threat? i'm another one of those canadians on the list and we have some bill now that will give common law gay and lesbian couples the same rights as common law opposite sex couples. maybe i don't watch the news much but i haven't seen/heard anyone complaining about it. the second cent: one of my friends from psych gave a presentation in our seminar class yesterday on growing up gay. it was to give everyone an idea of the research that's been done. it seems that educating children/teens in schools about homosexuality (realistically, like using protection and such) actually will decrease the transmission of stds among other benefits. it's a lot like putting condom machines in schools. give everyone the right tools and they will then be able to make an informed choice. ok, no more about that.. i could go on and on... i would like to retract my earlier statement that all girls want is total adoration. i don't know what we want. i am begining to think that i just want whatever i can't have. i am going to visit the b/f in a bit over a week. i am scared. i feel like being apart i can see more clearly. i am there for over a week and i have severe doubts that we are still going to be a couple at the end of it. anyone know how to deal with a situ like that? i mean what if we break-up midweek? i don't know anyone in ottawa. how awkward would that be if i had to stay for the rest of the time?! i can't not go b/c i need to see him before making a decision. it's as if he listens to nothing i say and just says "i love you" we can't have a converstion b/c everytime i get started talking about something he responds "i love you". i want a boy who i can have philosophical discussions with. he's never taken a philo course and refuses to get into them with me. i used to think that we had the same values but i think it's just that i have values to which he doesn't object. sorry for blabing this to you all. needed to get it out and since none of you know me i feel safe. thanks to anyone who read all this. hugs and kisses, di "i respect those who have faith even though they are ignorant" -hemingway +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the undead Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail sinister(a)missprint.org. Well first off, anyone wanting to know my views on the whole subject of depression can search the archives to their hearts content, especially anyone who thinks B&S songs are too happy. Also, people who think you have to talk it like you walk it. Look at comedians like Paul Merton, Caroline Aherne, Spike Milligan. All depression sufferers at one time or another and you don't hear them banging on about it all the time. Not like Thom Yorke or little teenage Manics fans. Not that I am accusing them of faking it, but we don't need to hear it all the time. This has all been covered a while ago, so onto something else: Namely, the whole gay/Catholic thing. What if one finds oneself with one mother and NO father through no fault of your own? What's your God thinking of by depriving you of the normal family environment that seems so bloody important? If you are a happily monogamously married Catholic, if you find out you are infertile, do you have to stop having sex as you aren't going to produce children? What about when you hit the menopause? Do your paretns share these attitudes, and if so why are you laying it all at the feet of your teacher, if no amount of persuading by them would sway you from what your parents told you first? So how do you suggest we stop the next generation from growing up as bigots, if you can't teach them and bigotry is inherited? I used to cringe as a child when my dad referred to people as poofs and darkies and the like, but he's got more tolerant as he's got older and as our generation have shown people like him that basically people are the same no matter what colour their skin or what they get up to behind closed doors with another consenting adult. I hope we are all boycotting Stagecoach buses by the way. For those of you not aware of what Struan was getting at, Brian Souter, the owner of Stagecoach buses and one of the richest businessmen in Scotland has offered an obscenely large amount of money to the Keep the Clause campaign, also backed by the Daily Record which Starry has already advised you to bombard with your junk. Do you think they'd get away with "get these blacks out of our homeland" or "Fascism lessons for all" campaigns? Doubt it... I would like to say I think Chris is perfectly entitled to his opinion, but I just get the sneaking suspicion that it's not really his opinion at all, just something he's learnt from an early age like his three times table or the alphabet. But if I'm wrong, and intelligent people genuinely believe there is something intrinsically wrong about wanting to have sex with someone you love, then I lose a little more hope every day. Golly this was rather serious wasn't it. I sort of promised myself I wouldn't get up on my high horse about this sort of stuff any more. But what the hell eh? If were only the casual sex that upset them, they'd have done away with a good number of themselves by now. Catholicism is famous for rendering tons of guilt on its practitioners so let's not pretend they actually have objective viewpoints on anything. Furthermore, what Chris stated above implies that Catholics believe only homosexuals have casual sex and that hetero-folks only do it when they want a child. Oh what utter bullshit. This truly is the heat of the argument isn't it? Define family. Well, just because we can't create a life doesn't mean that we can't nurture it and help it to grow healthy. There is no perfect family, and I believe if you ask around in your obvious little world that there is no perfect family. Not only can we be equal but I could be an improvement. The physical nature of humans and animals in general has been around a lot longer that the notion of your religion. You have offended me but you have brought to light the teachings of the Catholic Church. The arrogance as well as an attempt at compassion. My government (Can.) is going through the same argument right now and one of the bigger arguments is Canada is not a church state. We are not ruled by one religion, we are protected to practice our religion even if it includes not following one at all. I want the same protection, awareness, compassion as everyone else without being reminded that I receive this only because I can be tolerated. My sinister belles and beaux, I'm not sure I've got Nicky D's point exactly, but the genius/mental illness thing - the best example in my little canon of knowledge is modern goddess Kristin Hersh. in case you've been unfortunate enough to miss out on her solo stuff and time with Throwing Muses, track down the song "Delicate Cutters" from the first Muses album. It was for years my favourite song in the world, despite the almost-irritating wailing sections (but don't let me put you off!), and will always be incredibly important to me even as music becomes less of a way of life (and, sadly, this is happening continuously). The fact that she wrote it while pregnant and half-mad does make me believe that it wouldn't have had half the emotional, 4 real power it has if she'd been, erm, chemically conventional. But at the same time Nicky is spot on about depression NOT equalling genius. It's almost always a fake, kids, don't let it take you in. It doesn't have to be so, but I think you can be pretty sure than anything that is marketed as such is about as 4 real as Lenny Kravitz. Um...Isn't having impure thoughts a sin in your church? It is in all the hilarious vicar-in-the-cupboard sex comedies I've seen. Which kind of buggers (scuse the phrase) most gay people, I'd guess. And it seems obvious that gay relationships do actually fulfil most of the above criteria, with the exception of procreation. I don't quite understand the phrase "a reminder of their love" - why on earth would they need a reminder? So what I'm saying, basically, is I think Chris is being a wee bit of an apologist, and perhaps needs to think a little more about his faith and his approach to homosexuality. But I do appreciate what he's saying, and I did find his letter enlightening in many ways. However, my favourite bit of his letter was the following: "In fact, all the catholics that I know are more tolerant of homosexuals that (sic) the people I know who are not gay." There's a free entry to the next Tigermilking (provisionally Friday 10th March, kids!) for the first person to send me an accurate Venn diagram representing the above statement. Mmm, GCSE maths... Sinister: pain and pleasure mixed together proves that we're alive

Bonjour, For this post I decided to take the interesting step of using the right e-mail account, rather than my mum's. This way I might avoid more scary messages saying I'm not allowed to post when I know I am (unless you've got fed up with me). Sorry to spoil your blissful skipping-in-the-fields-with-rabbits-naivety, but this post isn't very cheerful. This week I have mostly been thinking about death. I have come to the conclusion that there is an afterlife, even though I'm far too cynical to be religious. I have two little stories to show what brought me to this conclusion. Here they are: Story one ========== On Sunday the 13th my granddad died, which was very sad, even though it means he got to spend Valentines Day with my late grandma. This is the spooky bit. He died at 6:20pm, and my mother was in Coventry on that day. She came in, having no knowledge of the news, at 6:30pm and said "I've just seen the most incredible shooting star". Alright, this might be a coincidence, but... Story two ========== Sometime ago it was one of those glorious, hot lazy summer days. With this in mind, my friend and I decided to loaf around in his living room and watch MTV all day. Somehow, we managed to get around to talking about the songs we would like played at our funerals. My friend said that someone in his year at school had died last year, and he mentioned the three songs played at her funeral. At that very instant, MTV played each of those three songs back to back! Scary! So then, no B&S content. I know it's frowned upon to chuck in a "token B&S moment", rightly so. I did, however, buy The green fields of foreverland this week, and am immensely taken by it. I am also developing a very dangerous Isobel fixation. This isn't a token B&S moment, I'm being sincere. Also, if there are 1211 people on this list, surely there's someone on here who thinks Rialto, by Rialto, is the best album ever recorded? I didn't want to write anything yesterday because I was afraid of getting beaten to bits because I (whispers) got a card. I sympathise with the unbeloved amongst you, honestly I do. 23 valentines days have passed without a boyf (not my entire lifetime - my tale is not quite that sorry. I just haven't had one in February before). Were things to proceed at the same rate (and I sincerely hope they will not), I won't have such an enjoyable VD (did I write that? I think I did) until I'm 48. FORTY EIGHT!!! Shudders. Now, what was it that there Peter Miller said? Oh yeah... >>You don't need me to vote for you to know that I think you're special, especially if you've got a big "upstairs". That's the nicest thing I've ever heard in ages. It's great to know some people value a girl for her brainpower. Too many people in this world concentrate on the size of your tits. About time we had some more outrage on Sinister, isn't it? I'm SHOCKED, HORRIFIED, DISGUSTED, SICKENED, MADDENED and REVOLTED by the fact that some people can have such disregard for other people's feelings. I mean, how could Stinky Stu walk out on the band before I've ever even seen them live? It's not on and I'm very cross indeed. I saw an interesting programme on telly not long ago which was about dolphins. They showed two dolphins rubbing each others' bits with their flippers and they seemed to be quite enjoying it. They weren't making baby dolphins or anything, because they were both laydee dolphins, but they had big smiles on their faces and were making contented clicking noises. Isn't it amazing what they can get away with showing before the watershed these days? Some people think that dolphins are more intelligent than humans and you have to wonder... Then again, some people think that dolphins were monkeys. Right, I'm off to feed my postpet before he turns his little pink toes up.
