The story seems to be going a bit by the wayside doesn't it? Hello Sinister Siblings, with luck your Happy Sappy Day is happy enough. Peter Miller had this to say and it could use repeating: "Thanks for all the moral guidance we've been having. I must remember to pass it on to any ten year olds I bump into. You don't need me to vote for you to know that I think you're special," Cheers to Peter for that, though I did snip off the "upstairs" bit, sinister boy he is. I'm afraid the only moral advice I have to share is to wash behind your ears and wear clean underwear, because you really never know do you? I shouldn't have to tell you all how nice and such you are right? and no one wants a mercy vote do they? My list crush vote is staying right where it is thank you very much, my crush has been most wonderful to me. Yes, I even know who it is and even was one of the beautiful Miss Crush's matches. Random B&S content: I really, really don't like "Boy done wrong again". Not even the Black Sessions version. I dislike it even more than "Electronic" from Tigermilk. Anyone else have a B&S song they just actively don't care for? Cheers to Lovely Llew for introducing me to the joy that is the Elephant Six Collective, more brilliant stuff I had never heard of. I also must add I'm happy to have converted someone from the list to my personal favorite band K's Choice. Oh, B&S is next in line I promise you, but K's holds a special place in my heart. Massive cheers to the wonderful and lovely Erica on her last posting for having the only post in a month to actually make me laugh out loud. Yes, it is a "bunch of arse" and all the rest of that. Hmmmm, I may have to take her advice about "Playground Love", would Miss Scarlet lead us wrong? Someone mentioned Joy Division and so I thought I'd share this from Zen Entertainment: "Danny Boyle's expected feature about the Manchester music scene may be a biopic on the band JOY DIVISION, which became NEW ORDER after frontman Ian Curtis hung himself" Personally, I never really cared for Joy Division, though I did like some of New Order's stuff. At the risk of being lynched I must say Morissey just annoyed me. zoe mentioned her friend who didn't like B&S because it was too happy...well, I guess some people like being unhappy, maybe it makes them feel more relevent. Having been down in the dark places myself for a time I'm afraid I still can't see the attraction. Oh, but I must say that Pink Floyd had their moments. Even though I like Floyd my favorite album is the one many never heard of, The Final Cut. Speaking of slightly depressing bands, I've been listening to Black Box Recorder's "England made me" of late and I must say it's damn fine stuff. More random B&S stuff: does anyone know if the tab/lyrics/music book will include the odds and ends such as Paper Boat? I know the ep's are going to be in it but what about those poor homeless songs? Looking back I see this post prolly isn't as funny/filthy/relevent/twee/etc as it could/should be so all apologies for not passing the test, I was never very good at grandstanding. Its probably not too evident to the UK folks on the list, but such a huge portion of our American lexicon and consciousness were formed by the strip that its end is pretty scary. I guess in a way its really sad that Charlie Brown never talked to the little red-haired girl, never hit the winning homerun, never kicked the football and never got a Valentine, but I like it better that way. Snoopy never finished his novel, never won a battle with the Red Baron and never won a case in court. Life rarely works out the way we intend, and I think that was the essence of Chuck Brown and the entire Peanuts crew. It was kind of comforting to know that even though the strip had ended, Schultz would still be with us and hopefully recovering from cancer. Its doubly distressing to lose the strip and its creator in the same weekend, right before Chuck Brown's vaunted Valentine's Day. Hello ratbags, Happy Valentines day, because I love you just as much as I hate your guts. May I first say how lovely it is, however breifly to hear from Archel. Valentines day, eh? What a load of PIFFLE. Having spent last saturday morning selling heart shaped chocolates and countless cheesy cards to people who look like they couldn't possibly be snogging ANYONE, I've decided the whole thing is a bunch of arse. This said, I do have a half eaten chocolate teddy bear lying disembodied next to me - he can't stand up anymore because I've eaten his toes. Poor thing, soon he'll just be a little red ribbon tied in a bow. He looks a bit like Alexander 'Dont Let Your Mouth Write a Cheque Your Butt Can't Cash' Borgia's bear, only less furry. I hope no one is sad this Valentines day. Like Martin said, there are so many reasons to be single these days. One more being that couples are sappy, hand-holding losers, who tend to have a permenantly glazed expression and often dribble without realising. And a package arrived today, addressed to Eric. M Arthur. Ha bloody ha! This is plainly NOT FUNNY. I was registered as Eric.A MacArthur in the school records until the fifth year, a fact which went unnoticed until my name didn't get called out with all the other girl's names lining up for our exams. No, *I* had to go and sit in the canteen with a load of grunting cads rather than in neat rows in the hall with the rest of the girls. I don't think I've ever fully recovered. Have I told you this story before? Before I float off with a head full of popmusic and a heart full of nothing, I must advise you all to buy 'Playground Love' by AIR (released today). hello all sinister kids, Well, My subject heading does me in today. In honour of Valentines day...something from the Jam...haha. Well, Nothing says Valentines like waking up from a night of frightening Tornado weather and going to the dentist to get your Teeth Drilled. Oh, CAN YOU FEEL THE LOVE!! I can't...my gums are numb. <sigh> To all of you kids pining for that special someone...the one with the "haircut"...the one with the "smile"...the one who reads a book of poems in the park..the one you lost at the tube station... good luck, find love..and if you can't find it...buy it. :) No, not Prostitution... Also, someone...whoever...voted for me for their List Crush, thank you...You must be crazy...but thank you. Who needs a Valentine when you got a Belle and Sebastian based love?..eh? I had a good weekend, drank a little too much...I can't decide if my Hangover from Thursday was any worse than the one from Saturday. ladidaaa!hello my little miserable people.... i am back1(bloody hell...) m,yer i returned from my little adventure in sunny ol' canterbury.NICE PLACE!!!it's so....,so old...so nice and beautiful.i wish i lived there.anyway.today i had my first lecture after a LONG time...it was ok.now i'm going to another one.oh yes it's the v-day.mmm,right. anyway,in canterbury i had this lovely chat with one of my friends.we talked about our favourite band.why,yes!Belle and the boy Sebastian... anyway,she does own TWTAS but she never got to listen carefully to them.she is a major fun of the pink floyd-which i really don't like.i respect them but i can't listen to them.she also likes the tindersticks (thumbs up for that),the walkabouts(yey),nick drake etc.so when she asked me how i would describe B&S i did mention nick drake but she opposed to that.she told me that B&S are really a mediocre band and too happy for her.(do you remember that story with b&s being a goth band?how do people come up with these things?)so,anyway,she eventually came down to the point that she can't listen to them because they are too light and that she can't find any connection between them and nick drake -apart from hazey jane II. she said that drake was a manic-deppressed person and that his whole attittude is reflected in his music but b&s are far more optimistic and ,well,not as ,should i say 'profound'yer,sth like that.i don't know.for me b&s are b&s and i am not sure i agree totally-or even at all with my friend. hmmm,it was an interesting conversation though.indeed... anyway,got to go now.i am glad that after a long time i talked about b&s. ........ i really don't like pink floyd....sorry... luv,'cause it's all you need,zoe ....carry on my brothers...carry on... ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the undead Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail sinister(a)missprint.org. The following goes out to all you lovely, special people out there who find themselves alone on a day like this. Yes, it's an excuse for a crap list, and it's called "10 GRATE reasons to be single": 1: You can do what you want when you want. Well if your mum lets you anyhow... 2: Everyday has potential to be that special day when you meet your own special someone. 3: You can have a crush on someone different everyday and variety, not Emma Bunton, is the spice of life after all. 4: You don't have to go into shops you otherwise wouldn't dream of going into and spend important beer money on presents. 5: You don't often argue with yourself about whether eating dog biscuits is a good thing. 6: You don't have to go meet his / her friends and pretend to like them and get in trouble in a conversation about fast cars when you say you always wanted a milk float. 7: You can justifiably spend every day wallowing in misery playing your favourite Morissey / Joy Division records. 8: When hampered by single-itis your friends and family tend to overlook your alcohol / smoking / obsessive about music / lack of career / not doing your homework / not tidying your room / kettle fetish problems. 9: You can sleep on both sides of the bed and not have to hold your farts in, and even smell them under the sheets if that's your bag. 10: No one can lean over and breathe on you in the morning only for you to find their breath smells of coleslaw. 11: You can make silly lists of why it's GRATE to be single. Sinister: toronto meet-up...and happy blech day to all....

hello hello... happy valentines day and all that jazz. i remember when i was in highschool (being 6' tall and awkward...and having no guy wanting to touch me with a pointy stick) i called valentines day blech day and would dress all in black and sit alone in the corner listening to my bloody valentine and eating lots of anti valentines day snacks like apples and figs. take that corporate giants... usually the lovely and much more coherent debs writes to all the beautiful toronto crowd about the meet-ups but today you are stuck with me!!! poor you...i know. we are all going to get together this saturday, that is the 19th of february, at the green room between 7&8 to about 10:30 pm and then we are venturing over to blow up (i know, i know...but do you know place to shake your thang on a sat. evening..???) for those of you who haven't been to the green room before, it is rather tricky to find. you need to walk about a block and a half east of bathurst subway station until you hit the future bakery. you need to turn south here and walk until the laneway...turn right and you will see a big flashy/taky sign that says the green room. we'll be upstairs looking sinister. you can, of course, just decide to meet us at blow up....or you can email me privately if you need better directions or a possible subway station meet up!!! i'll wear my b&s pin...and most likely be wearing all black as per usual...and i am rather tall with black sticky-upy hair and brown horn rimmy kind of glasses...i'll probably be seen with pint in one hand, cigarette in other and foot in mouth. i, of course, look forward to seeing all your lovely faces....but if you have never came to one of our toronto meet ups then i am especially appealing to you...we love new faces!!! we won't force you to sing kumbaya or sacrifice you to the mods at blow up or anything. point blank, you are missing a wonderful opportunity to see me act like an idiot... once you see me dance like an idiot your self esteem will shoot through the roof and the world will seem like a better place again... see you all soon my pretties... xox and blech day figs... :) diana ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the undead Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail sinister(a)missprint.org.
