deary me, Once again i am wrong. Why do i think such crazy things, I knew full well it was on the 4th at the star and garter, i must have been mistaken as to what date it was last friday. Today is the first in over 1000 years when the date and year was made up of all even numbers, the last was 28/8/1888. Just though i'd tell you all. So i should be seeing you in the S+G this friday, i still need to find someone to come with me out of my nirvana loving friends. Today also i heared the first song emerge from the recording, it sounded ok, the people at school liked it anyway. I have to go to re-install Word to do my coursework on, and i suppose ill have to find my printer CD to re-install that too. My sister found someone at Uni with loads of bootleg B+S records, and that looper one, so I will be posting her some cassettes tonight. That bootleg from Paris costs £20 in my record shop. Sir Here is a data-posy we garnered recently from the information bicycle lane: "Shane Meadows, Nottingham's answer to Jean Renoir, is apparently making a half-hour television programme called "The Stars of Track and Field", based on the well-known song of the same name." We haven't been so excited since we saw "Slade in Flame". While we are talking cinema, may we join Nick Dastoor in recommending Michael Winterbottom's "Wonderland"? The finest film we have seen in many years, and one of the few occasions a Michael Nyman score has seemed like a good idea. (The other is "Drowning by Numbers") In fact, we stayed right to the end of the credits, caught in that artistic equivalent of jet-lag when you don't want the spell to fade, and noticed the curious dedication: "thanks to Stuart Murdoch". Hmmmm. Why does nobody talk about the Montgolfier Brothers on this list? Their cd on Vespertine Records is simply splendid. Indeed, they've got Alan Magoo so excited he called them "the new Felt" whilst trying to talk up his P!O!P!tones venture. This morning a new anthology arrived with a thump on our desk. Within it are a selection of aphorisms by the Scottish poet Don Paterson. For some reason, this reminded me of Sinister: "There are men and women who, upon every occasion one meets them, talk so seamlessly of themselves one wonders how they managed to listen long enough to have acquired the power of speech in the first place." jen's firestarting experience got me reliving my unbelievable bad luck with anything flammable. i mean, to set fire to everything once is tragic, but unlucky. twice, you're getting careless, but THREE times!! well, it gets you an unshakable reputation as a pyromaniac, and people *ironically* running for cover whenever you light a fag. the first time genuinely wasn't my fault...well not really. i'd had this bitchy slapping fight with this girl, which obviously i won, sort of. i then made the mistake of gloating (well she's a mingin' cow, what can you do?) and, umm, she retaliated by setting fire to my hair! we put it out fairly rapidly, in fact she helped, i don't *think* she meant the curls to actually light, but it was shit scary. it was so unreal, seeing out of the corner of your eye this flame working it's way up.... <shudder> the second time was a couple of months after i first quit smoking, and in a desperate bid to avoid thinking about nicotine, i was clearing out my room. we're talking piles of magazines, old coursework, lots of paper basically...and paper burns. fast. i found an old lighter, and me being me, starts setting fire to stuff. not big fires mind, i just like watching scraps of maths coursework burn. and then i couldn't put it out. i freaked like fuck, i was holding an exploration into pythagorean triples in a hand that was being scorched. i panicked completely and dropped it, into a bin liner full of...paper. the whole thing was going up, smoke everywhere, toxic fumes from the melting bin liner, and i couldn't get to the door. i was the only person in the house, otherwise i'd have probably just carried on screaming till someone got me out. as it was, i can honestly say that in times of utter desperation, you are a lot braver than you think. i put it out with a pair of jeans and my dm's. by the time it was out i was exhausted and in such a state, it was awful. i got into such shit and all, the house stank like a bonfire for a good few days afterwards. third time wasn't too long ago, one of my many culinary disasters not merely being inedible, but in fact burning half the kitchen...who'd have thought tea cosies hanging over hobs could be that dangerous?? luckily, i managed to dump all burning items into the sink this time. caused a lot of smoke, but not too much scorching. so, who's coming out for a fag with me then....?! the lovely honey, while slagging the new primals album (don't listen to him, it's fantastic!) said this: >Someone mentioned people whose favourite >childrens' television programme was only on in their region, to which >I can only say "Gus Honeybun". "It's me again yes how did you guess 'cos last time you were really impressed" Oh I do love to start a post with a betty boo lyric, sorry to all the people that it scared. well I'm back at uni now and so back in sinisterland and as I can almost hear you asking "what's owen been up to since he was last here?" I thought I'd tell you. Errmmm drinking mainly, oh dear. Though I was drunk enough on thursday to go up to a guy in a study at stow shirt and talk to him without getting all shy and feeling like a total prat, he said he was thinking of joining the list so if any strange folk from newcastle turn up here then I'm affraid I'm to blame. saw the video for dog on wheels on MTV last night, it's quite good really. Also had a dream where I had to fight my way out of a warehouse using a grenade launcher, I'm going to have to stop watching old episodes of the A-team on video (except for the one with boy george as the guest star...I couldn't stop watching that). going now but I'll leave you with a quote, don't know who said it but I like it. hey crazy kids (and older more statley listees) it's time for Paul's NME update! here we go: B&S are busy putting the finishing touches to their forthcoming album a spokeswoman has told NME. She confirmed B&S had one more week in the studio. No title decided upon. Out in late spring/early summer... NME can also confirm that contrary to rumours on the band's website, Stuart D. has not left the band but is finishing off the Looper album "Geometrid". The spokeswoman also revealed that B&S members were likely to feature on it..... i had a dream last night, but some of it is too twisted to tell you. Anyway, it was about being forced to sell a house for demoltion to make way for a shopping centre. it was my childhood home. Then I resat my highers and got the highest possible mark for geography. Then I spoke to some dolls which had been sexually abused by curious teenage boys. They asked me to help them. The had wounds and cuts. Anyway, thats what I get for being gedrunken last night. met my pal on the train. where was she going? to the same place I was. What was she going to do? same thing I was- visit her boyfriend. Where did he live? near my boyfriend. So we got together and I enjoyed the vodka and it was great. I guess you had to be there.... heres the b+s content: we listened to B+S too. and her a reformed goth too. and she liked it. Shocking. Toodlepips. all hail me...coming up is my first ever post with B&S content! here goes... i once had a dream and it was funny, so i have writted it here for you: i woke up one morning and i went downstairs and looked in the fridge for some breakfast. i was rooting around when i found some tuna sandwiches, so i took them to the living room and ated and ated. i had almost finished when brain molko out of placebo came in and started whinging at me in that whiney voice of his about how they were his tuna sandwiches and that he was keeping them in the fridge by means of a convenient way of keeping them fresh until he wished to eat them. so i gave him back the remnants and went back to the kitchen, where i found isobel campbell putting sprite thru our water filter. do you think i should seek help over this? what does it mean? should i not eat tuna sandwiches for breakfast? should i put refreshing lemon-and-lime flavour carbonated drinks thru my water filter? mr matthew hicks esq. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Whazzaup, homiez? Bad news: I broke both of my arms this monday, so I'm writing this with my nose. But I've got my cat here with me, so I'm ok. That was all a big fat lie. Almost got you there, didn't I? Sat on a train for five hours this sunday. There were these 3 idiots there, maybe 30 years old, who spent the whole trip on the trainbar (erm, you know what I mean). 20 minutes before my station they returned to their seats, drunk as hell. Now, I had my 70's jeans on. And my hair was rockin', it looked a bit like the hair that bloke from the Wannadies has, I had just washed it that morning (hang on, this will get more interesting, I promise). God they had fun, pointing at me and laughing. I had to go to the loo and I walked past them. "Well that cunt doesn't live on this planet", one of them said. And all the other ones laughed. "Yeah, what a fuckface." Ahh, where would we be without rednecks who have no brains? We'd all be fucking stylish, just like us here on the sinister. B&S- content coming up, so grab a banana. Or an orange. If you're not allergic to them, that is. Not that any of you know (or care, for that matter), there's the presidental election going on here in Finland. Only two candidates left, we started up with eight. A he and a she are fighting for... I don't know, maybe a big paycheck and free travels all around the globe. Well, the she (Tarja Halonen, like you'd recognize her name) has been the chairman of SETA, the finnish gay and lesbian movement. So she's cool as fuck, 'cause not many presidents anywhere in the whole wide world have been in such a controversial job, have they? Well, she held a party yesterday, trying to kiss the ass of the young population. So she held a concert. And hell, it worked for me. Now, I would've voted for her, even without being there yesterday. If I'd vote, that is. Politics bore me. Anyway, that's not my point. DJ Otto was there, spinning some records. And what did we hear? Northern soul. Fucking shitloads of it. And "String bean jean." And "Ease your feet...". Otto, we here at the tweeland salute you. Keep up the good work. AND the coolest sleazy chickrockband ever, Thee Ultra Bimboos played there too. I laughed out loud when they started the song "Liar", which they dedicated to the other candidate. Ultra Bimboos rawked. short leatherskirts. Great poses. ATTITUDE. hello list kids. Its Leyla here. By myself. Sarah-less. As you may have noticed she posted to the list a couple days ago...all by herself. I suppose we have broken up...maybe? Nah, not to fear...the endless self indulgent rants of our double posts will live on! Its 3am right now, and my mind is the clearest it has been in ages. I feel compelled to post something...due to complete bordome and confusion. Today I played a great pretend game..that I like to call "I'm a Rockstar". Yes... see. What I do is dress up, go out..and pretend that everyone around me is a fan. So...picture this... I go out with some boy...and we go have some dinner. As we park the car..I state "oh, no...so many of my fans are here". Its really quite liberating and fun. You must try it. Not only do you scare the boy you are with...but you also come across as pretentious and arrogant.. WAY TO GO LEYLA!! thats the way to pull the lads... anyway. I think I have grown obsessed with the idea of becoming some sort of fabricated person. With all this mass media..culture.. I just want to redefine myself..over and over again. Be a girl one day, be a boy another day..experience things from every point of view possible. Rich, Poor...Old..Young. You can't live until you have lived everyones life... right? This is very Ziggy Stardust isn't it? Great, I am a rock and roll cliche. It's allready been done. Everything has allready been done... <sigh> Some B&S content: I wanted to go see the screening of the "Dirty Dream #2" film... unfortunatly..I did not find out where/when the screening was taking place..before it was much too late. well, it is late... and I must dream.. if you are lucky..
