greetings and salutations I had a B&S dream the other night so I thought that I'd tell you about it so that you can decode my psyche and then laugh at all of my mental foibles. I was in a shopping mall with a couple of my friends but it wasn't just any old shopping mall it was the one from the film Mallrats which you should watch if you haven't seen it cos it's GRATE. Anyway while at the mall we bumped into stu m and belle (except in the dream she looked nothing like the real belle but I knew it was her anyway) and stu told me that the album would be out soon, meanwhile belle started singing the Ooberman song Why Did My Igloo Collapse and so I got all excited cos she was singing it rather well and I started jumping up and down and telling her not to stop. Then I woke up. Well that's about it for my stupid dream so I'll just quickly appologise to anybody who took my recomendation of Corduroy as a reason to buy some of their stuff cos I listened to the other CD of their's and it was total crap, hmmmm, sorry about that folks. Other news I went to the uni careers office the other day in order to ask about possible postgrad courses in IT or even a job that provides training. Was seriously freaked out when the careers councilor suggested that as I write and as I have a huge knowledge of/interest in music I should become a music journalist. Now admitedly it would be a great career but it's never gonna happen to someone with no experience and no contacts and I was just a bit shocked that she suggested it. On the cover of Kerrang James Iha looks a bit like Monica Lewinsky. Scary. I heard a great song by the Dead Milkmen the other day. I'm sure I'm really far behind, but it just made me smile and think of you all for some reason. The best bit goes: "You'll dance to anything by The Smiths / You'll dance to anything by Depeche Mode / You'll dance to anything by any bunch of stupid Europeans who come over here with their big hairdos intent on taking our money instead of giving your cash, where it belongs, to a decent American artist like myself!" I've got a new Miles Davis album, "Someday My Prints Will Come". He's taken his film down the chemist's to get it developed and now he's waiting for his photos to come back. Good old Miles. "This Life" has got a chapter called "Miles Smiles" but it hasn't got a chapter called "Miles Runs the Voodoo Down". Bit of a missed opportunity there. It's so easy to read that it's like not reading at all. Still, I feel that it's helping me get inside the mind of Young Britain. I've been trying to get a job translating sado-masochist website. They invited me to have a look round to get a bit of a feel for it, but I could only see the bits that "guests" can see, but there was a site map. They have a kind of agony aunt service, and there was definitely something in there about arse muscle damage. Sadly, I wasn't allowed to read it, but if I get the job, you'll be the first to know all about it. Sinister Portmerion - will there be any civil disobedience? I'm not going if not. This album by The Scream really does go up to eleven, doesn't it? How do they do that thing where they make an electric guitar sound like a big fucking car that's just slammed its brakes on? Can you do it on an acoustic guitar? Or does it sound like a toddler falling off his trike? Will there be golden copulations in the streets at Sinister Portmerion? I do hope so. Fucking in the bushes, things like that. Thanks to Mark for helping me out with Bob the Builder. You really are a diamond geezer. I've got headphones on so I don't have to listen to the stupid fucking neighbours, but the floor vibrates anyway. It doesn't half get my goat. I'm listening to "Ooh Child" because it was on "Ally McBeal" and I found it deeply moving. I also found Fluffy's monkey-related comment deeply moving the other day. I know us little ontarian sinister boys/girls can't stop telling you all how much fun we had at our meetup. My new little teddy bear, Jean-Louis, and my little moggies are not getting along. So Jean-Louis kicked their asses...Oh well... Went by the Condom Shack on Sunday, stoned outta my tree, and what were they playing but IYFS really loud so you could hear it on the street. I went in and bought some, ugh, well it's called Probe so you figure it out. But the little boy who was playing the CD had turquoise hair and a lip ring and was utterly gorgeous. And while the little man and I were talking to said cute boy, two guys walked in off the street and asked if IYFS was on the radio or if he was playing the CD...it was another B&S mini-meetup with complete strangers. Fun fun...I'm still trying to figure out what to sell at my lil'shop...lil' shop of horrors... :) It will have lot's of sweets and chocolates, even though I don't like them...and crips and soda...NO PEPSI!!! And if Diana doesn't have an art gallery I would like her to paint trees on all the walls. I would live above the stoor and big bird would visit me everyday...no that's Mr Hooper...how many remember him??? What a very good musical week. On Sunday Cinerama created quite a pleasant racket, on Tuesday Arab Strap were miserably brilliant while Stereototal were great P!O!P! from Germany, and on Wednesday Momus was quite literally completely bonkers, and GRATE. And yesterday I saw American Beauty, which has very little to do with music except for having some good 60s/70s ROCK in it, but is still brill. After Arab Strap I had to squeeze into a pub booth beside the ample bottoms of StuM, Richard, Stevie, Sarah and Chris. B&S members, eh? You don't see any for a while then 5 of the bastards turn up at once. I was tempted to ask if the new album would EVER be finished, but thought it wise to keep my mouth shut and not suffer a beating. Then who should I see the next night, but Wee Karn and old StuD. He looked vaguely contented. First off, I'd reccomend anyone to enter any future competitions run by The Gay Dirty Den, as the rewards for winning are many and varied. And also give you the means to start your own band. Though since I have no songs, I'll have to steal his Looper one which was quite simply Iantastic. Starry and others who participated in the campaign to waste the Daily Record's money for their Keep The Clause (Section 28) campaign will be glad to know that the Record were duly swamped with all manner of rubbish, including an old garden gate and a rancid mattress. Ho, ho. The Sinister village, eh? Since I'm the head teacher, that also makes me in charge of PE, so there will be no cricket or basketball teams, since I'm rubbish at both sports. I have no idea why Velocity made me the teacher (has anyone actually learned anything from me except how the delete button on their keyboard works?) but I'd very much like to take up the baton where Mr Bronson from Grange Hill left off, and generally be really nasty and wear a wig. Actually, can I be the Pub Landlord instead, much like Al Murray except a zillion times less funny? Jarkko could do all the work for very little pay while all the profits disappear down my gob. And I'd quite like to be on the footie team, if Lucy will let me and if my dodgy knee ever gets better. The idea of Lucy as big Ron Atkinson is one I find strangely appealing... Camden is sunny and it really couldn't look much nicer. Unless anyones already claimed it, i'd quite like to run the sinister village bus service, i mean no one would use it, but its kind of essential really, and besides, it'd give me an excuse to be rude to people who annoy me, which seems to be something of a specialism to those occupied in said occupation in Norwich [though they're SOO polite mostimes]. Failing that, i could run the multitude of sports facilities which seem to be in demand [Cricket, Basket ball, football even], unless actual experience disqualifies me [i *have* actually done these things...]. B+S content alert. No, really. I have to say i quite liked the stu d contrbutions, though i've not heard enough of Looper to really voice an opinion [i realise saying this may cast me into the outer darkness of tastelessness in some minds, but i'll miss him - in as much as someone who's never seen them live can], it'll be interesting to witness the difference [if any]... eventually. Hi folks, especially queer ones, Blatant list abuse about to appear I'm afraid, but as the TV programme known as Queer As Folk has been heralded in these parts I would give you all the opportunity to *WIN* the jeep from the series, 2 tickets to San Francisco (probably a shit prize if you're from San Francisco) and lots of Queer As Folk goodies. Obviously, it's not me giving away the prizes it's The Terrence Higgins Trust, and it's all for charity folks. One English pound per raffley type ticket. Mail me if you want one / some / loads. I know this isn't entirely practical over email netty things, but bollocks to practicals, unless it's in St Trinian's biology lessons or something. Ummm... oh I know I'll talk about The Byrds, they're great, Gene Clark is a songwriter extraordinaire, Mcguinn can pick a 12 string, Crosby sings like an angel, Notorious Byrd Brothers is a top album even though Gene had long gone, when he made Gene Clark & The Gosdin Brothers which is a fantastic pop album. Sorry, that was all in aid of getting the boy Moore to go and listen to some nice 60's pop. Run along Moore, do as your told... And while I'm writing to individuals I have just remembered that I haven't posted Mr Dean's Gene Clark tape so could you send me your address again Mr Dean as I've since moved. Sorry.
