Her boyfriend took her to this ultra posh restaurant for her birthday, and while chowing down the suitably extravagant meal she noticed a lady sitting at the next table lean over to her companion and mutter disdainfully, "look at her...*sigh* what a waste! you know she's just going to throw it all up later on..." well! imagine! Erin also fends off unfair smack-addict accusations... Me, I'm not even especially thin and my grandma says, "now tara, I want you to know - god loves you, god cares about you, but God wants you to GAIN some WEIGHT!! Thin is NOT beautiful! it's unhealthy and disgusting, don't look at those magazine ads!" cheers, gran. And despite the flak (s)he gets, Corporus antichristus' posts make me laugh in the same demented way that erstwhile listee brad's did... Hope all you people going to the B&S shows this week have fun...but... what a coincidence! the other day i was on the net, and happened across a photograph of edie sedgwick and andy warhol, posing atop the empire state building. andy was looking lovely as usual, as for edie though, i couldn't quite make out her earrings, but i didn't like what she was wearing, and she could've stood to put on some weight; (not as voluptuous as i would have liked) - she definitely didn't have the child bearing hips that i find so damn attractive in a woman. < And Edie was wearing these really big earrings. They were wonderful. But I seem to remember that Edie was a bit of a mess in her later years.> ..upon squandering the last of her money she was reduced to fast food, tv dinners and the horrifying fact that, because of this, she'd be gaining 20 pounds a month for the rest of her life. she then turned to the drink. <maybe I just have my savings tied up in elastic and frozen foods. Hello everyone. I'm a new girl. Please be nice to me. There. That's better. I'm not quite so nervous now...... Someone asked about other bands having copies of Tigermilk. Weelllll.... If we can broaden the matter to just *celebrities*, then I can mention Stewart Lee. A friend and I (Elizabeth Daplyn, if you can remember her {I'm sure you can!}) went to see Lee & Herring on tour in April and, afterwards, Liz gave Stewart a copy of the album. Sweetheart that he is, he was eternally grateful, and gave her a huge old snog. Bless. By the way, to the person (Todd?) who was asking after her, she's tootling about in Oxford at the moment, being a fresher. I'm sure she'll be getting withdrawal symptoms and will be back soon. Then....nothing. Until now. I'm sure I had that album from the library, at the time I was dead mad keen on anything from Liverpool and you know how sensitive I am. I liked that China Crisis song too, where they're all looking dreamy in a haystack on the video, and some other group who had a song called New Dreams For Old, which must have been really shit. Next to the article about The Lotus Eaters, there's one about We've Got a Fuzzbox and We're Gonna Use It, who remind me a bit of a certain someone on the list, but I'm not telling you who in case I get called a stale bucket of wee. One of them witnessed a murder and had to get the hell out of Birmingham!!! As for The Belle Stars, they were surely one of the great bands of the eighties, I loved their songs "Three Minute Hero" and "Too Much Pressure", but it was a terrible shame when Neneh Cherry left. Why don't you get your new pal to write a "Where Am I Now?" article and send it into the list? I forgot to point out that Q Magazine features a picture of a Waronker on page 100. Thank you to whoever sent in that photo of Eval Keneval playing rugby. Claire, don't send me a tape, I've got some already. I recommend The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill for your pub. It's an urban hang suite, I think. At any rate, it won't get you the sack and it's dead long. I could down about twelve pints while it's on, no problem. I look forward to the clash of the titans, DJ PJ taking on DJ Divine in the Northern Soul stakes. Is the Symington Special seamlessly mixed? I bloody well hope not, or I've got no chance. Have I inadvertently opened a can of my fellow invertibrates? Apparently my mishearing is not only a common one, but is widely held to be the correct lyric. Just to recap I originally thought that the lyrics to She's Losing It went: "the first cup of coffee TASTES LIKE washing up" But I now believe that the actual lyric is: "the first cup of coffee CLEARS the washing up" I prefer the misheard version, so if anyone can prove me wrong please do. Sinister: Sinister soul weekender

Hello folks As there's been so much talk about MC Tag's triumphant return to the decks I though I'd add my tuppenceworth. John said that there were no Sinisterines there to witness the evening's twinkly little star perform, but that's not true, as I was there. Just because I never say anything, it doesn't mean I'm not listening. Anyway, it was a great night with lots of girl groups and northern soul. Generally the kind of thing you want to shake your booty too. The people were er, pretty diverse and fashion-wise it became clear that this season's look pour homme is a light-up t-shirt, a dog collar and some jackboots. For the laydeez it's looking like a very hacket version of Adrienne Posta in Up the Junction (with the 90s twist of getting pissed and doing the splits on the dancefloor.) There was a nice school disco feel to the evening as every time people started dancing the record jumped, especially when Tag played that Jane Fonda record to try and piss off the indie massive. This didn't seem to work, although one of his ardent fans did suggest that there could have been "a bit more Roses, mate". Anyway, everything you have heard is true. Saturday afternoon was spend on a wonderful shopping blitz where Tag set out to buy a "soul shirt", a pair of PJs and the world's dinkiest pair of shoes. You'll be sorry to hear that he didn't settle for the Winceyette pyjamas (Are they the ones you get sparks off? Anyone?) and got something tasteful in brushed cotton instead. I'm sure he'll let everyone have a feel. Well, one of you, anyway. You'll be glad to know that we were thinking about you lot anyway and the whole weekend was a bit of a Sinister trail of fame what with the search for the Duke's book (Duke, have you told anyone your real name so they can find it?), a visit to Cafe Pop which has been named Cafe Prog in Keith's honour and em, JJs house, which we passed about 10 times, everytime Tag saying "JJ's house". Of course, there was also the chance to finally meet that nice John Warrender and the lovely Emma IN THE FLESH. Meester Miller, you were also mentioned. This was when the Smile Dj who was not Tag played a song about going down the jobcentre and I said it was the worst song I'd ever heard. It was Denim and Tag says you like them. I know you live in Spain where they probably don't have pop music, but surely that's no excuse as this really, really sucked. Anyway, the whole thing weekend was as much fun as a barrel of monkeys and if any of you get the chance to catch MC Tag on his "Put 'em on the glass" tour you won't be disappointed. Just go and ask him for "something you can dance to", like Jamiroquai perhaps and he'll be only too happy to oblige. May the faith be with you.
